Chen Done for 2017 and 2018?

Featured Replies

Don Mattingly seems worried that Wei-Yin Chen is going to need surgery for his partial UCL tear and would miss all of 2018 after missing most of this year. Another great Marlins FA pitching signing!

I called this shit. He was stalling to get 2 years off minimum instead of 1. His contract should be void if he knew he needed surgery and knowingly put it off.

Should I be ashamed of be a Taiwanese now !?

No he should be ashamed for robbing the Marlins. But his agent is a genius if this was the plan the whole time.

His agent wouldn't be a genius without the help from Mike Hill…

I get the feeling it was the plan, and Mike Hill should be made to account for it. But of course, Loria gave him a pass on it.....Hill HAS to know stuff on Loria. Only way this makes sense

yeah this shit should have been done a LONG time ago.  I'm pretty sure everyone here knew surgery was the only option on the table.  What a POS.

What a fucking joke. Again and again pitchers try to rehab these partial tears and nearly every single time, it doesnt work. You may be able to pitch with a partial tear but once it starts hurting, its game over.

Wasted an entire season instead of getting the surgery done.

I think Hill has an alphabetized rolodex of all dick pics of personel in major league baseball.

We will now be paying the salaries of both Volquez and Chen next year and they probably won't even throw a pitch for us next season.

Nice job Hill!

Feels all but certain that this team is gonna get stripped down in the offseason.

why are you guys blaming everything on Chen, don't the marlins have doctors and do MRI and all the latest tech shit? they could have seen this miles away.

Yes the Marlins have doctors to help players hit the ball further.

The medical staff gives all the reports and diagnosis but it's the players choice on what they'd like to do and Chen has consistently avoided surgery hoping he'd get better, inevitably delaying the time line for him to ever actually be better. Instead of saying he had a tired arm and trying to rest it all season he should have had surgery in April.

You must have had insider access to his visits to the medical offices too to know these things as facts. Nevertheless, they cleared him to play.

He has a tear that he's had for quite some time and he has turned down surgery with the hope that more rest makes him better... and it hasn't.

What did I say that hasn't been reported publicly?

either you work for the Marlins or you speak Mandarin

TODAY: After meeting with Dr. ElAttrache, Chen received a good diagnosis and won’t require surgery, FanRag Sports’ Jon Heymanreports.  While Chen’s elbow ligament is inflamed, it is believed that the PRP injection he already received is the only treatment required for the time being.

Really don't know it's good news or not…

Wow that's extremely surprising considering how long he's been having discomfort and how it continues to surface even with all the rest he's had already.

And yes it's good news. We're stuck with him for 3 more seasons, there's no reason to want him to stay injured even though he's been such a bust so far.

What I mean was, does he really didn't need any surgery to back to full healthy ? already have two straight seasons with the elbow issue and could continue if any treatment besides the surgery couldn't 100% fixed his elbow…
