December 17, 200322 yr I wish the Dolphins would pull off an 1997-1998 offseason like the marlins did..... just start with prospects and wait till they become good and win the superbowl..... dammmmmmmmmmmm lol dood there are no propspects in football...its just a draft.
December 17, 200322 yr no its not to get a free agent ...its been reported and quoted by beinfest that the money was not to aquire another player but to stay within the 60 million operation zone...so in other words it was a salary dump to stay within 60 mill
December 17, 200322 yr can we say overreaction? Exactly. We traded Mark freakin' Redman. It's not like we traded Beckett, Willis, or Burnett. Redman had a good year, sure, but he's still a soft-throwing lefty with a tendancy to get rocked, who was was going to make way too much money in aribitration. You can talk about Williamson or any other deal all you want, I don't believe they existed myself. I wouldn't trade Williamson for Redman and I doubt Boston would either.
December 17, 200322 yr oh and Redman benefited big time by our ballpark.... he wont do this next year unless he plays in a pitching park and even then, he wont have our d behind him
December 17, 200322 yr oh and Redman benefited big time by our ballpark.... he wont do this next year unless he plays in a pitching park and even then, he wont have our d behind him It still doesn't justify why we gave up a solid left hander for a DAMN RELIEF PITCHER. Did Bean threaten to beat Beinfest up? This deal is a joke. Everyone is talking about How Redman choked in the playoffs or that he benefited from a pitchers park but there is no reason to trade him for some scrub. How the hell did we go from Scott Williamson to MR. King Scrub? If we don't use this extra money it will be safe to say this was a Fire Sale.
December 17, 200322 yr first year playrs that make 300k are worth more than u think... u gotta take the financial aspects in mind. same with choi.. lee is better (at this point) but the salarie difference makes choi valuable and a good aquisition. we dont have to worry about choi and neu until they starts artbitration yrs in 2006 2007

I don't know whether this deserves a :lol or :confused :banghead
December 17, 200322 yr so ur saying a player taht is making the minimum and is solid is not worth redman who will put up a worse era and make 4 mill, but since hes a starter, hes worth more? if i was a gm with a payroll budget, i would think the deal is solid.

He is a damn mediocre reliever with limited potential. Heck anyone can sign a damn mediocre reliever for a cheap price. In this day of age there are not many solid left handed starters in this league. Beinfest could of got more than just King Scrub.
December 17, 200322 yr i like it. neu had an awesome era like in the low ones until the end. i was keeping an eye out for him in yahoo fantasy. also redman maybe got lucky with us. his era will prob be in the middle 4s through the rest of his career. neu is young and we need bullpen help. Wow. The Yalie actually completed a post without a spelling error. Now, if we can just teach him to capitalize the first letter of a sentence!! :party

I spoke too soon. He needs help with apostrophes too. :banghead

December 17, 200322 yr Let's calm down guys. We traded a pitcher who played his best ball last season. This is the best time to trade him, when his market value is high. And while what we got in return doesn't look very appealing on the outside, the fact is we acquired a decent reliver with potential, with the possibility of cash or another prospect. Some people keep forgetting that we HAVE to work under a certain budget. A budget other teams don't. A move like this needed to be done to continue to keep the MOST important players on the team for now AND in the future. Beinfest is a GM in Major League Baseball. Do you guys honestly believe he does not know what he is doing? And while our ideas might sound better than what has actually happened, everything he is doing is the Marlins best option. There is a reason why we won the World Series last year and why he was voted as the best executive this season as well. Let's calm down people, and see what happens.
December 17, 200322 yr His K/BB rate was awful and I'm expecting him to be our weakest option in the pen.
December 17, 200322 yr I do not like this deal, but I will wait till all the chips fall in place before getting mad or calling a fire sale here. Let's wait, the chess match is not over.
December 17, 200322 yr His K/BB rate was awful and I'm expecting him to be our weakest option in the pen. Just wait until he starts doing what he did in college and in the minors.
December 17, 200322 yr Im 50/50 with this deal Neu is not bad and CHEAP but Beinfest could had done better than just Neu. No, he couldn't have done better than Neu, otherwise, he would've. What makes you think he could've done better? Do you know the deals that were out there? And why wouldn't Beinfest have gone with the "better" deal?

Red Sox deal would have been better but he was situation that he need to trim payroll. He had no choice and took cust cutting move.
December 17, 200322 yr Neu is solid, Big Red was arby-eligeable eligible. Just that decrases Big Red's value. If you thought we were going to be able to trade Big Red for a Pujols type player then... You are the biggest idiot on this planet.
December 17, 200322 yr the more i find out about Neu, the more i'm liking the deal Finally, 1 convert.

You are the biggest idiot on this planet. So you don't believe the Redman-for Williamson rumor? I think it's safe to say that Williamson is much better than this Neu kid. We have to pick up a solid free agent now because we've gotten rid of 1/3 of the world series team already. People are already starting to call it a firesale. (which I don't think is true) We need to regain credibility, and most importantly, we need to make a move if we're going to make another run at a championship.
