Countdown to 25th Anniversary Weekend

Personally, I think a lot of people like the teal better and want the teal back because it reminds them of a better time in Marlins history.

The Marlins have made the playoffs twice.  Both times in teal.  And they won it all.

It’s been pure pain and suffering since the new uniforms were introduced.

I like the new uniforms better but it’s becoming more apparent to me that I’m in the minority.

You’re wrong at least with me. I wanted teal back right away when they first announced the new look. I’ve never liked this look and I thought the look leading up to it was bland.

When the 2012 uniforms came out I thought it was going to lead to a lot of creative options for selling merchandise.  That never happened.  The logos and marks were never developed any further past the initial offering (aside from what the league puts out for every team...holiday hats etc).   They also lacked an interesting primary logo. Using the hat logo as the primary is weak IMO.  The original primary logo with the leaping marlin over the baseball was awesome.  Every team should have one.  The Mets skyline logo is a good example of a solid primary.  The cardinals had a single front facing bird standing on a bat juxtaposed over a baseball.  Also solid.  2012 era marlins merchandise was just the Art Deco M placed on various colored shirts and hats

Ok I'll be the one to point it out. Those caps, if they're the ones being worn for that upcoming series, are inaccurate compared to 1993. There was no white outline around the logo in 93, the entire logo was off centered, there was a slight difference in the shape of the top fin, and of course there was no 25th anniversary patch on the side either.

Not to say they don't and won't look great but I had to mention it.

Here's a side by side, on the left is the one they'll wear in 2 weeks, on the right is a 1993-95 cap...

@SilverBullet1929 nice observations.  The hat from last night compared to this Hough pic shows more consistency between the fins and the position of the head.  However the offcenter logo and the white outline is still apparent.

The Rays 20th anniversary hats aren’t true to the original but it is extreme and apparent to even an untrained eye

Off centered logo was done by Sports Specialties that's the brand the Marlins used in 93 not New Era.

and @SilverBullet1929 that's not the hat that it will be used at the game. That's the stupid retro collection badly done.

This is it :

I thought the first caps were centered on the entire logo but eventually they centered it around the F. I don't know when the switch happened though.

Looks like in 2002 when Loria took over the logo was moved.

Also I noticed the 93 Sports Specialties have a no white outlined in any of their caps, but New Era has a white Outlined in their black one in 94

I like the updated look on the fish hat, not so much on the Rays one.

The Rays cap isn't meant to be like the original. It purposely adds a yellow outline to the 1998 logo on a cap that is the light navy blue of the current Rays caps. It's meant to be a clash of the 2 eras, it isn't meant to be a 1998 replica. The Marlins fashion cap that has the current logo on a teal cap is more in line with what the Rays were trying to do with this cap.

The Marlins cap is supposed to be a 1993 version so it "should" be accurate to 1993 even though I agree with @SonOfJack that the updated one is technically an improvement.

Ahh... I knew it wasn't the exact one but I thought the errors were the same so I thought the pic I used still showed my point but good to at least see the fin fixed.

They are going to leave the hat on the field? Won't the umps make them take it off?

it's covering a sprinkler

Gods I hope they go back to this. Even if they just switch the F to a M just bring back the logo and the colors. So much better then the current one.

Every internet discussion about uniform redesign includes some random dude constantly posting some terrible design he  came up with.  Said Guy reposts the design at every turn.  It’s awful. I run the risk of being that guy but the cap logo I posted in the Dimelo thread is fairly uncontroversial.  It’s essentially the M from the batting practice hat without the upcurve.  It bears close resemblance to the font used on the original F.  Honestly though if the Twins can have a TC on their cap then I don’t see any reason why the Marlins have to have an M.

Speaking of that thread, did the Marlins stop asking for input on the new look?

I haven’t noticed any polls in quite some time.   Maybe they got a consensus and moved on to other topics.   Maybe the Dimelo intern went back to school for summer session

Maybe they finished up the new look and submitted it for 2019.
