June 4, 20188 yr And some would've questioned their motives originally. They got literally the exact haul for Sale that I think we would have gotten for Jose that same offseason had the tragedy not happened. They've done the whole package in terms of rebuilding their team on the fly given that they've drafted well, signed IFA guys like Luis Robert who will also be a force in a few years, and have done a great job amassing talent for guys like Eaton, Sale, Quintana, and soon to be Abreu. They will have a similar trajectory to the cubs to me. I think they will continue to be bad this year with some promising players coming up towards the end of the year, start off next year bad while eventually being a team no one wants to play towards the end of next year, and then being a contender come 2020.
June 4, 20188 yr I want Gorman or Casas just based off the limited things ive read, but any hitter will do it for me. I hope we can also sign whoever we pick fast and actually use some of the rest of the year for development instead of what we've done the last 2 years and never played the 1st rounder we took until the next year.

June 5, 20188 yr Author I'm not saying Casas is a guaranteed bust or anything, but he has some limitations to his game (likely 1B only with raw power, bat might not develop). He just doesn't seem like a first round pick to me. I would be happier with Gorman than Casas, but I think the Marlins ultimately get Casas or Edwards. But, yes, I'd be more comfortable with a Casas pick now that Kelenic is off the board. Yea I got ya. It's not that Casas is bad it's that their seems to be better possible picks. And I know very little about all these guys and even I thought the same when I read the little bit I've read about him.
June 5, 20188 yr The one guy I would really not like is Edwards. I even went to his HS in elementary and middle school and i still wouldnt like it. Undersized guy with limited power and not a stud level hit tool screams bust to me.
June 5, 20188 yr He looked super tiny when they had the camera on him. Ya, and i think that is something that can be overcome, but the fact that he doesnt have a ++ hit tool is a major concern for me in combination with the size. That and i'm not a fan of the prototype of below average power and speed and defense combo as I think it is more likely to bust than other potential prototypes.
