REAL FANS - Do we make Jeter suffer another year of us not attending?

Featured Replies

I guarantee you there will be people on this site that will justify the Marlins not spending money in 2021 (if that should happen).

It’s in some people’s nature.

They absolutely need to be spending money by that point.

Like @Michaeljust said, it has to be smart spending though. Not Loria impulse spending.

Personally, at that point if they're not spending, I'm going to be a bit pissed, unless it's within reason. Like Free Agent A wants an 8 year $180 million deal but realistically is worth only 5/100, then fine. Smart spending is what I prefer. But yes, by then, they need to be spending something to improve the team.

When does a team not overpay for a Free Agent #1 starter?

The Marlins are going to need either a #1 or a #2 in free agency in 2021.

See, people are already setting up the potential justification to not spend money in FA 3 years from now.

I agree with all of this and I’m doing all of this.

However, in my case (and maybe yours too), I don’t have blind faith in Sherman/Jeter.

If they don’t spend money (substantial money to fill holes that will vault the team into the playoffs) by 2021, I’ll never enter the ballpark again nor will I watch games on TV.  I’ll root for a different team.

I can’t predict how I’ll feel two years from now because it really depends on how things have progressed.  I don’t have blind faith in jeter specifically.  Actually I was and still am quite nervous about his ability to execute the plan correctly.  What I do agree with is the direction they took.  Only time will tell if they’re the right people to be making the calls   If it becomes clear they haven’t created a farm system that produces quality players then it will be time to call for jeter to sit back and be a Magic Johnson type of minority owner and  hire someone with a track record for building an organization

in the meantime   I’m rooting hard for him by nervously so

You're assuming pitching - I meant in general. I do agree with that statement, however. Pitchers have been getting overpaid for some time now, so that'll more than likely occur. But again, long as it's smart!

Saying they shouldn't hand out bad deals like Loria liked to is a bad thing now? You're a lost cause if so.

Sure, justifications, call it what you want, but you should be on that board as well - it needs to be money spent well, not just money spent. Like when I bought these speakers and a monitor last year. It turned into money spent, not well spent. They're just sitting here. I don't want something similar with the team.

Jesus man no one is advocating giving out bad deals.

But they will have to pay big money for a #1 or #2 to make the playoffs.

Do you think this current roster and farm system is making a deep playoff run in 2021 as presently constructed?

Yes, and that's money well spent and not just spent. We're on the same page here. Let's move forward. ❤️

That's your fault. Unbox them and set them up.

It is my fault! Impulse buys, awful. Well ... OK not true, they did get a lot of use for about six months, so for a few months they were under "well spent" category, but now ...

How do you use your computer without a monitor?

Sounds like my marriage.

How do you use your computer without a monitor?

I used that monitor for rhythm gaming, actually. But now my new TV has a low latency mode for gaming so the monitor has been rendered unnecessary, and since the TV has its own speakers as well, the speakers that were bought were unnecessary.

How do you use your computer without a monitor?

Paperweight, door stop, cup holder, clothes hanger, hamper, shelf...

Must be a very small drum set to fit on top of the computer.

Oh yes, quite. Have you heard of finger drumming?

Wait, does this make us real fans yet since we're not talking about baseball now?

How can a computer be a clothes hanger or hamper?

You lay your clothes on top of it, whether they're dirty or not determines if it's a hamper or not.
