May 31, 20197 yr Sorry for the midseason uniform thread.. Watching the giants series and looking at their orange on black cap it got me thinking about our cap. The black on black issues have been thoroughly discussed already. I think the inclusion of the Marlins kind of forces them into that box. The Marlin design is neat but it really only works as a black silhouette and when you put that against a blue M the whole thing falls apart. Caps don’t need to be intricate. What if they did away with the Marlin on the M and made the M blue with a red drop shadow. You get a simple cap that stands out and will stand any test of time. Credit to whoever made the various script "Miami" of different colors on the Creamer board. I basically took that and isolated the M on the color combination that I liked best. Thoughts? May 31, 20197 yr I'm loving our actual cap more and more even with the too dark/too much black issue but yes that idea is excellent too. I think the simple yet elegant shape of our M is one of the best details of our uniforms so emphasizing that on a cap would be great especially in that color combo.

I actually don't think the cap suffers from the "too much black" issue. It's the uniforms where that become a major problem.

May 31, 20197 yr Author My feelings about the design have changed as time had gone on. The main elements I like: the logos; the font; the colors. I think they could just be applied slightly different. Some nights the hat looks great. Other nights I feel like it’s too dark and the fish wrapped around the M becomes a bit much for the main cap. Maybe good for an alternate cap or sleeve logo. I like the way that blue M looks against a black cap. Pitt and SF use black uniform fonts and their contrasting color as their cap letters color. It really works for them. Baltimore’s orioles script looks better in orange than it did in black. But they don’t have a letter on their cap. Maybe the font should be blue too. Maybe not. I liked the original marlins script better in teal than when it was changed in 03.

It really stands out and shows off our gorgeous blue that is mostly just an outline color now. And yes cap logos and wordmarks do not need to match to look good.
May 31, 20197 yr Remember too that the original teal Marlins wordmark is what allowed the names and numbers and later the caps to be black because there was enough teal to balance out the black. What we have now are some amazing colors that go unnoticed in certain settings. Sometimes we look like smudges of black on TV.

I give the players a lot of credit for doing their best to dress up the uniforms with colorful cleats, arm sleeves and gloves. The new identity is good. I just feel like these couple items I’m suggesting could really put it over the top.
May 31, 20197 yr I absolutely adore how the uniforms look in this picture below... notice how much black there is (caps, numbers on front, numbers on back, names, undershirts, and even accessories) yet the teal wordmark and pinstripes do so much to compliment the black and balance out the entire look... I messed around with the fanatics shop pictures and here’s a rough look at what a blue script and blue M would do. For me I really like the blue M on the hat. I could go either way on the script but when I look at the shot of the 97 guys getting their rings it moves me toward wanting a blue script. [ATTACH]3008._xfImport[/ATTACH]

June 1, 20197 yr Author I prefer their twinkies. Hostess chocolate cupcakes are their best product. HoHos could have a place at the top but the existence of Little Debbie Swiss cake rolls make the HoHo amateur hour
June 2, 20197 yr I prefer not to eat boys though. Yeah, me either. Not sure what @SonOfJack's diet is but I don't want any part of it.
