I respect that he is an ICON. However, I find him boring as hell. He's always so far behind the play from the crank of the bat to the reaction of the crowd that I can usually guess the outcome of his call before he finishes the call.

 

I understand that people like him but I prefer Geffner or DVH. Geffner has energy and makes calls much more interesting.

I have the exact same feelings towards DVH. I respect the guy and I appreciate his career but I don't personally enjoy listening to him for the same reasons.

There’s something about radio broadcasts that are superior to TV. The delivery is less hyperactive. You don’t have the generic FOX music going to and from commercial (which is the same for all fox regional stations). The sound mixing is more pleasing. It’s a better experience all round.

I tried that once, but the tv was a bit behind and I don't know how to put a delay on the radio broadcast.

Geffner is great too. DVH has definitely slowed over the years but he still has that great radio voice.

Just heard the clip now... wow... how come Dave doesn't sound this great now? Amazing clip, totally defies the way I think of him when I think of him nowadays.

I do this a lot. If you are streaming audio through mlb.tv and watching through a fox sports go stream they’re both delayed and you can pause the tv to match the audio and video. If you’re watching another team you can do the same but all through mlb tv. It’s really the way to go.
