December 17, 20196 yr Calling Willie Mays 3000th hit in 1970 vs the Expos. Thought this was interesting during the slow off season. just 50 years ago
December 17, 20196 yr Awesome clip, thanks for sharing it. I never saw/heard it before. DVH is an icon and we are lucky to have him
December 18, 20196 yr I respect that he is an ICON. However, I find him boring as hell. He's always so far behind the play from the crank of the bat to the reaction of the crowd that I can usually guess the outcome of his call before he finishes the call. I understand that people like him but I prefer Geffner or DVH. Geffner has energy and makes calls much more interesting.

I respect the guy and I appreciate his career but I don't personally enjoy listening to him for the same reasons.
December 18, 20196 yr There’s something about radio broadcasts that are superior to TV. The delivery is less hyperactive. You don’t have the generic FOX music going to and from commercial (which is the same for all fox regional stations). The sound mixing is more pleasing. It’s a better experience all round.

Watch tv broadcast while listening to radio coverage of it.
December 18, 20196 yr Mute TV. Watch tv broadcast while listening to radio coverage of it. I tried that once, but the tv was a bit behind and I don't know how to put a delay on the radio broadcast.

DVH has definitely slowed over the years but he still has that great radio voice.
December 18, 20196 yr Just heard the clip now... wow... how come Dave doesn't sound this great now? Amazing clip, totally defies the way I think of him when I think of him nowadays.
December 18, 20196 yr Mute TV. Watch tv broadcast while listening to radio coverage of it. I do this a lot. If you are streaming audio through mlb.tv and watching through a fox sports go stream they’re both delayed and you can pause the tv to match the audio and video. If you’re watching another team you can do the same but all through mlb tv. It’s really the way to go.
