The Marlins look to continue their strong play in game 2.

Pitching matchup:

Marlins: Sandy (3.63 ERA)

Phillies: Vince Velasquez (3.52 ERA)

Stats to note:

While Velasquez's 2021 ERA is the currently best in his career, his BB/9 (5.6) and HR/9 (2.1) are the worst in his career and his K/9 (11.7) is a tick below last year's mark (12.2). This has led to a very weak 5.36 FIP. His only strong peripheral is his H/9 at a career low 6.5. The Marlins have hit him well especially the past 3 years. This could go either way.

Across 7 starts, Sandy has a 2.44 ERA in career against the Phillies. Although it is worth noting that 75% of the runs (12) and earned runs (9) that he has allowed vs the Phillies were in the 2 starts where Jorge Alfaro was his catcher.

Just trolling

Feeling a little bit more confident.  I graduated to shortstop yesterday.

Mods, has anyone ever broke up a win streak in a gm thread?   That would be hilarious.

Are you asking if we had a win streak going and someone else randomly jumped in and made the next game thread?

If so, yes. We lost that game. That person was banned*. Nobody did it again**.

*They weren't really banned but we were mad at them.

**It totally happened again.

PLAY THE BALL!

PLAY BALL!

Aaand a good beginning.

Good good

Todd with his usual insightful commentary of

"Adding NO Harper, adding NO Realmuto"   instead of saying "subtracting Harper and Realmuto."

Second verse, same as the first, two down.

1-2... now give me 3
