Pitching matchup: Marlins: Sandy (3.63 ERA) Phillies: Vince Velasquez (3.52 ERA) Stats to note: While Velasquez's 2021 ERA is the currently best in his career, his BB/9 (5.6) and HR/9 (2.1) are the worst in his career and his K/9 (11.7) is a tick below last year's mark (12.2). This has led to a very weak 5.36 FIP. His only strong peripheral is his H/9 at a career low 6.5. The Marlins have hit him well especially the past 3 years. This could go either way. Across 7 starts, Sandy has a 2.44 ERA in career against the Phillies. Although it is worth noting that 75% of the runs (12) and earned runs (9) that he has allowed vs the Phillies were in the 2 starts where Jorge Alfaro was his catcher.
