He's not getting a 400mil 10yr extension at 31

no but a 10 yr / 325 - 350 mil deal is quite plausible with another top notch season...

he will get the term.  the term would see him chasing both 500 hr and 3000 hits if he remains healthy....and there really is no indication he wont stay healthy...

Those are big numbers.  Those numbers sell tickets. Tickets = revenue.

And players have been signing contracts for terms that take them into their early 40s, so its not that far fetched.

Will get get 40 aav?  probably not.  But he isnt just tacking on AAV to the term he already has.  He will get at least 10 years, unless something drastic happens this season.

right only 350 million over 11 years (told you he was getting the term)

I never said he wouldn't get the term or that he wouldn't get a raise either for that matter so I'm not sure what you're boasting about? He didn't get close to 40mil per year which is what I was saying was dumb all along.

Just feel like he'll "settle" on getting a raise to 35mil or something a season for the remainder of his contract and not a fresh 10yr deal.

He was never getting 40 mil AAV but you start high.

We were never signing him anyway, so who cares.

This is NOT a fully fresh 10-year deal.

It starts this year and basically guarantees the 6/$180M that was previously part of his opt out, and adds 5/$170M to the end of it with no opt out.

Right, but if he had opted out and signed this upcoming winter to 10 years it would be a fresh deal.

So its argument for semantics really.
