I have only been to Benihana a few times since the price is kinda wild but their food was infinitely better to me than "hibachi" from a regular place. October 4, 20232 yr Hibachi is like a strip club for chefs. It's whatever, I've only gone like twice but I can imagine one day being really hungry and just snapping at the guy and being like yo hurry the fuck up I'm starving just cook the food asshole.

October 4, 20232 yr While the food is good, much of the Benihana (or equivalent brands like Saito's) experience is the show aspect of it, and it's also an "occasion" type place rather than somewhere I go consistently. That said, they all do pretty much the same show over and over again even at the different brands, so are you really going for the show? So it's more good food, with entertainment to do for something out of the ordinary, at least for me. A downside - the table arrangement makes it difficult to visit with anyone on the other side of the table if you go with a group that fills the whole table.

It is still awkward being at a table with 4-5 other random people

Yeah, when I went recently, we were there for my dad's birthday so we took up the whole table with family and his friends. I'd agree it's odd with others there.
