April 16, 20242 yr I do get the idea that "we had a plan for him and this is just executing that plan"... that actually shows competency in theory as you aren't wildly deviating from an outline plan. BUT all of that goes out the window when that supposed plan gets in the way of winning. If you have 4/5ths of your "best" SP out, and your team is struggling to get wins, and the one guy who is your best SP at the moment is the one you option down then obviously winning is no longer the priority. It wasn't so on the nose last year when Eury went down while the team was playing well and had other SP carrying the workload and so on. The team wasn't so reliant on just Eury. But in this situation its like, its like if you have 3 flat tires and you decide to remove the one good tire before you get to the shop. It's like playing Jenga and removing that one piece towards the bottom that's supporting everything and you know that pulling it will topple the whole tower over. It's purposely losing. It's an awful look for a franchise and fanbase that should be far from this.

Say the team gets a few wins over the next few weeks and Cabrera comes back and gets some wins and/or Luzardo or Weathers pick up some of the slack. THAT would have been better timing for this. I just hate that they sent down literally their best SP. And of course the season is likely lost and it shouldn't matter that this even happened but it does matter in terms of the message sent to the fans. The message of don't bother watching and the first month of the season hasn't even ended. Awful.

I don't believe this will happen but hypothetically... if they kick this season down the road and are actually competitive in 2025 with a healthy and strong Max Meyer then are we crazy and this is actually ok? I guess its an age old question at this point. Saw someone on Twitter saying basically who cares, just watch the team play the games and don't think so much about the details and the business stuff and if they win they win and if they lose who cares. Sometimes I wonder if that's the only way to watch this franchise.

Come on man!

Year A comes and then it's wait until year B, it'll all come together, wait until year C, wait until year D, etc etc. They made the playoffs last year and instead of building on momentum, they purposely go backward? Why should I have any faith in any plan they put together? There's zero evidence that Bruce will ever spend, especially when it's "time".....when is a better time than after making the playoffs? It's pathetic.
