Extend DLC ?

nah, but he'll be an easy piece to trade at the deadline if he keeps this up.

So, I take it you're on board with another rebuild?

you hate DLC. why wouldn't you want to trade him lol

also, the rebuild is already underway.  He's not going to be a part of the future of this team and if he's doing well at the deadline his bat would very much make him a desired acquisition for a number of teams - not like trading him will be the reason for us to miss the playoffs at this juncture.

I wasn't ok with the original sherman rebuild, i'll NEVER be ok with this team rebuilding every time there are some guys who are doing well and thus should be extended to we magically have to tear it all down again because our owner du jour won't pay their salaries.  I don't give a shit really what this team does this year.  There's nothing that makes me want to watch them. I canceled my auto-renew for mlb.tv for next year too and won't pay to see the games unless they start actually trying to win.  i'll don't even bother following boxscores most days and have no idea when they win any longer.  I'll can kinda just gauge things by how people talk on here and I'll go maybe once a week to kinda give myself a recap and see what guys stats are overall.

i've really checked out on this landfill fire of an organization. This year they finally took my "Give a shit" from me and I just don't care if they win or lose. Maybe it will come back later on - but I highly doubt it with how awful our owner is.

I do think that he's too flawed to be an everyday player and his ceiling isn't that high.  However, he is having a much better season than I expected, so who knows .  That doesn't mean that we should extend him. I would take Brian Anderson as a caution here.  Extending him (I was in favor of it at the time) after a decent season would have been a mistake.  I'm OK with trading DLC while his value is high.

I'm against this rebuild and all rebuilds. An organization should be competent enough to build a major league roster and their minor league depth at the same time. Only cheap ass owners have to do one or the other.

I still watch because I love to see the development of young players.  I'm looking forward to see what more of our young guys can or can't do.

i'm not against ALL rebuilds. But I am against them when we all know the org will NEVER spend on vets to fill in the gaps as-needed as the team starts becoming competitive. I was against the initial one when Sherman bought the team and I am really against this one because....who the fuck rebuilds the year after making the playoffs finally?!  It says a lot when there were multiple FA's available for reasonable prices in both the 2020 offseason and this past offseason when we made the playoffs and both times they did absolutely NOTHING.

I wish i was a wealthier man so I could blow money on advertising and publicly shame Sherman and demand he sell the team.  But oh well, not gonna happen.

Scott toed a fine line there giving 2 2-out hits, including one by future Marlin hitting instructor Javy Baez but got the job done...

aaaaaaaaand that's two wins in a row again...i can change my name back! woooooooooooo

LET THE BANNING OF TREVOR ROGERS SUPPORTERS BEGIN!

Yeah, though I disagreed with doing nothing after 2020, I could at least buy the argument of them still not being on their projected contention timeline, along with the revenue concerns after covid shut everything down.

Doing nothing after last year was completely inexcusable, and was/is a complete slap in the face to whatever fans are left.  Bruce promised he'd spend when the time was right, and how could the year after a playoff year not be the time?  The excuse of a new front office is just that - an excuse.  I get there's an evaluation period of what Kim left behind, but this dude wasn't hired 2 days before the season started....there was plenty of time to actually sign some guys - especially when more and more quality players were still on the board late in the offseason with dropping price tags.  It goes back to Bruce being cheap, and I don't believe anything he says anymore until he proves it with his wallet.

Who exactly did we want to sign? Most were declining assets seeking long term contracts and the ones left over signed rolling opt outs.

Would have been nice to sign a catcher that hits and breathes but really who do u guys think we should have signed?

Who cares if the guys had opt outs?  That's even better for Bruce - it would help the 2024 team while you work on rebuilding the system.  And the alternative to following up a playoff season is what we did - nothing?  Yes.  Way to build excitement in your brand.

I listed like 4 guys that he should have signed on some other thread ages and ages ago back when we still had a glimmer of hope for the offseason. I'm not going through all of them again.  I do remember Teoscar Hernandez though being one of the main ones I wanted and he signed a freaking ONE YEAR DEAL in the end.  Bruce could have easily overpaid a bit to get him for even a couple years and he would have been an upgrade over Soler to boot while barely moving the needle on the payroll in terms of how much they spend versus other teams. Bruce isn't even willing to release Avi off this team because by god he's not gonna pay someone to not play for him (Even though he's done nothing but hurt the team for his entire time).

There are ALWAYS guys that can help the team in the offseason, it's not all just Ohtani level guys.  I mean he didn't sign any pitching depth either ffs

Teoscar is doing well but he is going to decline. 1 yr at 24 mil is not something we are going to do. Just not feasible Sherman or no Sherman. The season was lost when Sandy went down, then the pitching injury dominoes fell.

That's when it was time for the future. I don't see why we can't compete next year if our pitching bounces back healthy. Yes we still need bats.

You kinda just proved there's no point to following this team as even a 1 year 25mil deal is way too expensive for our owners so that also means we'll never see any other actual useful FA signings in the future.

Soler's salary was off the books. So It would have barely moved the needle in terms of payroll and still upgraded the team going into the season.

Sandy was also mediocre all of last year and they still made the playoffs. The fact he went down should have had nothing to do with doing zilch.

Don't keep giving them excuses. Because he isn't going to spend this offseason either as we're now back in rebuild mode yet again.

Gotcha.  So do nothing because one guy was down.  Good approach to making the team better.  Good approach to making fans believe in your product so that they come support in order to be able to afford better guys.

That approach has gotten us where we are.  Instead of adding guys here and there every year, we're stuck with two options - A) hope we can somehow sign 6 bats every year, or B) do nothing and wonder why we don't get better.

If one signing that hasn't worked out (Garcia, which looked dumb before the ink dried) makes him not want to spend a relatively small amount of money (in baseball terms), he needs to sell the team.

I see that a few people that are Done With This Team are still posting daily.

This is a good thing.  We need more Marlins fans not less.

Yes, Bruce is a cheap, alligator armed prick.  But this is the life of a Marlins fan.

The home playoff games at The Depot in 2027 are gonna be amazing.

Also worth noting.....you sign the guys with the intention of making this year's team better, and if it still doesn't work out, you trade them at the deadline to help make future teams better.  All the other teams do this except us for whatever reason.

I'm pretty sure we've all said we're over it, but it's such a habit after years of doing it, that we'll still post.

I'll proudly say I haven't watched a game since the beginning of the season.  I even changed my MLB notification settings to 'final score' only, just so I can continue to see how bad they're doing lol.
