MLB Draft Day/s- 7/13-713

Featured Replies

Arquette with elite power and arm

Cannarella elite speed and glove

Compton elite power

Williams dunno much about

Good to get some elite traits. Development will be key as always. All college means if they do well we could see in 2 years.

I just don't post as often because I'm usually on mobile and the interface on the site for a while has been really bad on mobile, for me anyways.

So far so good with this draft, though!

I don't have a clean list of all 21 picks but yes we did draft all college players. 1 sophomore, all juniors except 4 seniors and 2 fifth year players.

As with most drafts, it will take some time to tell how successful this year's draft was.

Certainly an unusual strategy to pick no high school players at all. It seems like the emphasis is going young in the international signings and being closer to ready with the draft picks. We will see how this plays out.

Could be a few things and they work in tandem.

All college guys means they should be able to be placed in higher levels (Advanced A) sooner, if not immediately, and advance a little faster / take less time to develop. That bit I'm sure is obvious.

The other part here is it may tell us how confident this front office is in the younger players in the lower levels of the system, and they don't want to rush these guys, allowing them proper development time.

If they're right, we get to really start the cycle of the Rays Way. Layers of development that can replace certain players every three to five years as we trade them off for better potential value.

Peter "Daddy Dix" Bendix is about to go on a legendary run as the longest-tenured Marlins GM/POBO.

@pollythewog go fall off a curb onto a crash pad and fall off the side and scrape your elbow. Don't laugh at my truthful post. You butter cream puff.

If the past is any indicator of the future, you don't want Polly the mush to agree with you. His takes are MarlinManiac-esque.

Your senses are pretty sharp Michael, so at least I enjoy your take and insight.

Remember this is the same mush that while me and you were praising Agustin Ramirez after the Jazz trade they called him a future backup catcher.

King of small sample size.

i also want to say the majority of the people on here didn't care that Jazz was traded and approved of it overall save for a few Jazz apologists/homers.

Problem is the satisfied majority rarely speaks. Jazz had one (1) great weekend and it was immediately a terrible trade. He then reverted to normal Jazz form. Which was, being carbon neutral as far as the ream record is concerned. Would like it if Serna picked it up a bit but Agustin has been nice, at least.

And we already got a room.

Editing in - Jazz remains a detriment to his team as well.

Yankees are 53-43 right now.

33-32 when Jazz plays.

20-11 otherwise.

The only time he was a positive to the team's record is when he thought everyone on the team hated him (2022) and he HAD to focus on baseball.

Are we looking at the same Jazz jizzum? TheJazz I’m talking about is on pace for a 4WAR season while missing 50 games.

jazz clearly loves being a Yankee and the media here loves him so good for him. Sounds like both sides happy with the trade.

Yes, the same one who somehow makes the teams he's on better by not being in the game.

The records are all there, man. As I've said, 2022 is the only time his team was better when he was playing.

Ran the numbers for each year thus far cause I had some time.

Every single iteration, with that one exception when he thought his teammates hated him, did his team do better when he was not in the game.

For his career, Jazz is costing his teams just over nine wins over a 162 game set.

So much for your 4 WAR player there, Polly.
