There were some minor trades throughout July last year, but no huge deals until 4 or 5 days before the deadline.

I would say the first real domino to fall was Puk to the D-Backs 5 days before the deadline for Devison De Lo Santos. Randy Arozarena was the next day.

I'm guessing they move Sandy and Sanchez, wouldn't be surprised if Bender gets moved too.

Yankees To Acquire Ryan McMahon - MLB Trade Rumors

The Yankees have a new third baseman. They are acquiring Ryan McMahon from the Rockies, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The Rockies will receive two prospects in return. One of the two prospects is left-hander Griffin Herring, per Jorge Castillo of ESPN. The other is right-hander Josh Grosz, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

I think the bigger story there is the Rockies finally acting like the terrible team they are and finally trading some pieces away to start a rebuild of some sort.

Tigers To Acquire Chris Paddack From Twins

The Tigers have acquired right-hander Chris Paddack from the Twins, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. An earlier report from Rosenthal and Dan Hayes of The Athletic said the two clubs were in serious discussions about a deal which would send a minor leaguer to the Twins for Paddack. The minor leaguer is catcher/first baseman Enrique Jimenez, per Robert Murray of FanSided. The Tigers are also acquiring Randy Dobnak in the deal, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Astros aren't exactly the stingiest team. I also had not realized how many option years were on that deal.

Now I don't see him being a 37.3M player this year and probably won't be next year either but Astros can totally swing this.

I thought he was owed more years and dollars guaranteed than that, well yeah that's not awful then.

Time flies, I can't believe he's been with the Twins that long already.

Editing in - it's more a case of Hayes' decline overall. This isn't as bad as I've made it out to be.

Hayes has great range and glove, that's about it.

Both Rogers twins traded today.
