How do you put in Josh Simpson who has no business on ANY mlb roster in a 1-1 game in Fenway when you have one of the better RPs in baseball not having pinched since Tuesday

Awful call by the spreadsheet

Oh bud this isn't anywhere close to the spreadsheet.

Spreadsheet would have had Josh Simpson on a hidden row.

Good outing by Sandy. Questionable decision making at best putting in Simpson. The lack of quality lefties in the bullpen is putting us in a bind. Need to address that in the off-season as well.

Would be nice to see Nardi on something besides a milk carton.

There’s no way Bendix can be watching this and nodding his head going “yeah, this our guy for the future”.

Josh Simpson was a nice story. 32nd round pick scratches and claws his way to make it to the majors. Unfortunately real life is not a Hallmark movie with a happy ending. I think this was his last hurrah and the fat lady is singing Cade Gibson's music. He's not much better though.

Thank you for your service Josh, you will always be a Marlin and did more than 99.9 percent of baseball players by making it to the majors. You can see Molly the travel secretary for your arrangements on the way out.

Claydumb just said he sees Simpson being a “key piece” moving forward. He also said Rony was going to pitch if we had taken the lead. Come on, man.

I couldn’t believe they brought Simpson in for Roman. That dude is a monster and not your typical lefty hitter he’s good at staying back and taking the outside breaking ball to left field (his splits are pretty much even as far as average and OPS and 3 of his 4 homers have been off lefties). In reality, he struggles against the slider low and in from the righty when protecting against upper 90’s fastballs (hence Sandy having success against him).

Whoever is in charge of making a decision like that REALLY fucked that one up. I know I have the luxury of watching him every game but these days, the analytics and video should be enough to prove that lefty-lefty isn’t always the move
