I believe they want to keep Sandy, because any normal team would do that.

They should extend Sandy for 17 years

Curious what @TheMarlinsProject makes of this

Not the most knowledgeable on this subject and from what I can tell there were 12 guys in the department. Seems a bit redundant in this day and age when you can watch every minor and major league game and have video of it to breakdown on a daily basis.

Feels like we are modeling our approach after the Brewers and Rays and they are far more analytically based than the old-school approach of passing the "eye test". It's not like the results were overly impressive either way. Never like to see anyone lose their job/livelihood but the reality of years of business experience is that a lot of people just aren't very good at their jobs and when they do get fired it is long after they should have in the first place.

I'm reminded of the scene in Moneyball where all the old heads are around the table and Brad Pitt points at Jonah Hill and he says "he gets on base Billy". That's really what it boils down to, it is a data analytic-driven world and anything not focusing on this is going to be sub-optimal going forward.

I did see that the Marlins posted a minor league hitting coach job opening. Feel like I'm not alone in thinking the player development side, in particular the hitting approach, is the far more important and pressing matter at this time.

That's kind of a lot of words that say nothing but you asked for my opinion.

Ekness has horrible strikeout numbers. Need a DP badly.

Hes got great k numbers in the minors and has very nasty stuff (when he knows where it’s going), but he’s clearly not ready to be in a 2-1 run game against the Red Sox.

He did have decent number in the minors. So maybe just off to a slow start at the big league level and he will get that in order once he has more innings.

And he should get more innings but not the 8th inning in 2-1 game against red sox
