January 31, 200422 yr So far, this offseason has been quiet for the Marlins. Last year, by this time, we got Pudge, Redman, Hollandsworth, etc. This year, we re-signed players (which was important), got Oliver, and traded away key players as well as losing Urbina and Pudge to free agency. I have to admit, last year I was a little more excited. However, I am looking forward to defending our title. How would you grade our offseson so far?
January 31, 200422 yr We kept payroll in check signed who we REALLY needed to sign brought in quality young replacements (choi, benitez, neu) A- (the minus is b/c we didn't get Vlad, had to leave some room)
January 31, 200422 yr Signing the Core of Our Team back Bringing in a Dominate closer Lee for Choi: unloading payroll for a future star Bringing in Oliver: to patch the "hole" until A.J. gets back bringing Trader Jack back I'll give us an "A"
January 31, 200422 yr We will give it an A most probably espn will say D-,and then we win it all.......again..
January 31, 200422 yr B+ If we get Cordero it will be an A. I'll agree with the B+ ranking. The bullpen could be better.
January 31, 200422 yr B, they did a good job keeping the core together with the money they had but I can't give out an A grade because they did not have one of the best offseason's and only the best offseason's get A's.
January 31, 200422 yr i say C+ .... we really havent done much to improve the team if you think about it. I mean yeah we sorta fixed the bullpen (with neu, and bringing back Fox) but the best is Benitez, he was a steal for a closer at $3.5 but we really havent done anything bad ... i loved the Choi signing and i like the fact that we're giving a shot to Castro. Now if we do get Cordero that would be a B- .... which its not bad at all
January 31, 200422 yr A- because we have our infield signed for at least two years... Plus we upgraded in the closer department...
January 31, 200422 yr B+ as of now. But if we get a stadium deal done I say this offseason was an A+.
January 31, 200422 yr B I probably would give it an A, but I really don't think trading Redman was necessary. And I've never figured out why so many people are so high on Neu. He's proved absolutely nothing in the major leagues and to me he looks like nothing more than a mediocre at best reliever.
January 31, 200422 yr Horrible... C+ We didnt get a power bat to replace Pudge. We almost didnt go to the world series, imagine without another big bat. At least we did get a left hander to fill in the 5th spot and then to fill the bullpen along with Benitez. We also got a good solid bench player if we get Cordero. We also lost ANOTHER big Bat. Derek Lee, 30+ Homers and could of kept on going and producing. Also Alot of errors without Derek lee at 1B, Just watch.
January 31, 200422 yr B+ In retrospect, should have kept DLee. Bullpen is still a bit of a question mark, but will probably hold their own.

January 31, 200422 yr A Keeping a Championship team pretty much intact deserves atleast that much! :thumbup
January 31, 200422 yr i say the team A+ off-season though a C+ because we could of kept lee or maybe sign lopez or guerrero maybe even guiellen. but we keprt good players and we will add ke players if were doing good in mid-june. Overall bullpen C+ outfield A- pitchingA++++++ hitting B- in-field A- overall i am hoping for 88-74 season
January 31, 200422 yr Rankings: Infield: Kept A-Gone (mistake), Castillo, Lowell. Lost D-Lee, Pudge. Replaced Pudge with Castro, and D-Lee with Choi/Conine/Cordero. RATING: C Outfield: Kept Pierre, Cabrera, Conine. Lost Hollandsworth, Encarnacion. RATING: B Starting Pitching: Kept everyone except Redman, added Darren Oliver as a stopgap for Burnett. RATING: A- Bullpen: Here's the biggest problem. Lost Urbina, Helling, Almanza and Looper(no real loss). Gained Mike Neu and Armando Benitez. Re-signed Fox. We lose our best relief pitcher and best long-reliever, gain a good closer and a very unproven new guy. No lefties to be found. Getting a decent lefty was supposed to be a priority. RATING: C
