1. dude whats all this sh*t that the player has to be white,Says who.... the people will jump on an Alien's bandwagon if it's putting up monster stats...for now on watch what you say around here... 688452 Compare how the media treats Barry Bonds with how it treats Mark McGwire. 688463 Right because when the media quoted him for saying his racist comments, and when it quoted him adoring himself and when they wrote about his spousal abuse problems, and all his ties with BALCO and potential steroid use.... Their intent was to bring him down. His rep is crap because he as a person is crap. You don't need to lie on a piece of paper to make Hitler look like a villain. And when McGwire has real BALCO connections, when the Federal Government says they have tapes implicating him with steroid use, when he actually has to go to a Grand Jury Hearing to testify about the steroid operation that did exist at BALCO, when his workout-buddy says that McGwire was the middle-man to him having obtained steroids, when his trainer is leaked to have said that he did supply Bonds with roids in the testimony, when more than one not credible person say he used steroids, including his mistress, and when he basically admitted to using steroids, and when no one comes to his side to defend him.... Oh and when McGwire speaks ill of black people, thinks he is God's Gift to everything and beats up his wife... Well then I'd probably have to side with you. During the 90s the media was all over Griffey's nuts. He was a media darling, I guess that was racism too.
2. Pujols should, but anyone that is big and hits homers is assumed to be on roids nowadays. But it has to be a power hitter. That's the catch-22. JP should be the toast of MLB but he isn't because he isn't a power hitter. Pujols is one of the best pure hitters ever, yet people just see another big guy as another roid freak.
3. It won't be a big liability. Sure we don't have great guys in the pen, but using each sparingly will only help them I think. None of them will have to worry about being over-used. Plus for our pen to cost us a playoff berth, almost every single relief pitcher is going to have to blow it. With so many solid guys to choose from it's just really hard to think we won't have some guys that have great seasons in the pen next year. We are in a much better position than we were in at the start of last season with regard to the pen.
4. Discuss. 688316 Don't love it, but it's better than commercial rap. Plus in the context in which it's played it's pretty good. You go to a bar and you will hear all this popular rap crap and then when you hear a reggaeton song you welcome it. It'll pass because it's not a genre you can take very far but as a short stay, it's relative diversity to everything out there, and because it's not much worse than anything mainstream I find a hard time disliking it.
5. Wednesday, rookies and veterans alike shook hands, slapped backs and asked how they had spent their winters. Marlins newcomers, such as relievers Chad Bentz and Jim Mecir, spent part of the time introducing themselves to their new teammates. Juan Pierre, who isn't scheduled to report until Saturday, was not only on hand, but also pleading with Marlins trainer Sean Cunningham to have his physical taken Friday along with pitchers and catchers, but before the rest of the team is required to take theirs. ''Because I want to beat the cavalry,'' Pierre said. from the Miami Herald, actually the main story was on Bill Robinson, also worth reading: http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/10919603.htm 688254 Good thing Trot Nixon is not on the Marlins he might take that as Pierre hinting that he is a bum and questioning whether or not his daughter should be prioritized as high as she is.
6. Reggaeton >>>>> Commercial Rap It's commercial yeah, it's cheesy but at the very least it's got flavor. Although it shouldn't have gotten this big, only so far you can't take this thing until it comes off sounding the same.
7. cobaincola replied to MVPosey's topic in Sports
I'm not so sure Bonds will win it, even if he hits .370 and breaks the home run record the writers may not be so sympathetic to the fact that he used steroids. He'll be right up there, but I don't think he will win the NL MVP. It's going to be either Pujols or Delgado, and i'm going with Delgado. 688235 That's a good point, if Bonds doesn't have a head and shoulders year above everyone else, Pujols will probably win it.
8. Interesting that Spooney will start the season on AAA roster. Looks like we may not get him till May or June depending on the state of the bullpen. 688275 From what I've read the reason the Marlins are not rushing Spooneybarger is because they see him as their closer of the future. 688302 Makes sense, if they need a strong relief pitcher down the stretch they can bring him up. The pen is deep enough as is, a couple of relief pitchers aside from Mota should emerge really strong at the start and that should be enough for then.
9. Arent the french authorities investigating on whether or not he was doping? I hope he wins #7, the French will hate on him even more. More importantly, Lance Armstrong has been a huge inspiration, not only for cancer patients but for everyone, this is one of the best stories in history. 687646 The French are always investigating him....and have nothing. 687648 Well they found those syringes in his room before.... And they have that doctor of his who said he gave Lance steriods.... And that ex-teammate who said Lance did 'roids. I mean if we had this such evidence on a certain black, bald, big athlete we'd have nailed him to the cross already. But no, Lance is white and a cancer survivor, so its okay. 687674 There's more evidence than that, a ton more, but if it makes the world out to be a better place than you want to give it credit for I guess it doesn't suit a sad malcontent like yourself.

12. A-Rod doesnt prepare better than anyone...trust me...go to Houston for that guy Frontrunning Red Sox fans on this site? That means alot...on a Marlin message board where the average age is 12. Since when do players get salary after they play their season? That was a pointless comment. Maybe Trot is sick of getting s*** on by the Yankees and their "we are the greatest attitude"...he had his teammates back, thats all... And who knows the context of how he was interviewed, Im sure there was some major manipulation in gettting these answers out... BTW, Id pay a guy 4.5 mil for 50 games than 25 mil for the 2nd coming of god and his .286 BA...what a joker... 687448 I don't care if A-Rod does or doesn't want to prepare better than anyone. That's not the point, he said he is going out there at 6am because he wants to get a head start on the competition. Nixon took personal insult to that, why? That comment whether truthful or not wasn't directed at anyone. As far as getting paid right after the season, don't try to pull a fast one. He's a baseball star with a large contract for him to try to single out A-Rod as this elitist is so insanely hypocritical it's stupid. If you don't see why the 'limo-driving' comment was stupid, there is nothing more to say. Nixon is such a blue-collared guy... The whole not a Yankee thing? Where does he get his material from? Wasn't Schilling a new face to the Sox locker room? Shouldn't he realize A-Rod in his first season isn't going to be as much of a Yankee as people like Williams, Jeter and Posada who have been with the Yanks their entire careers...isn't this obvious to anyone that isn't stupid? A-Rod is the second coming of God? Oh yeah according to Sox fans when they THOUGHT he was going to be a member of the Sox...
13. But A-Rod can slam anyone he wants...and hes not an idiot...w/e...I love how the Marlin fans are at his nuts because he donated money to Miami... 687435 LOL...you couldn't be more wrong. Have you not seen all the Frontrunning Sox fan on this site? A-Rod was even booed during a Heat Game at home, you have NO IDEA what you are talking about. It's just coming sense, Nixon just said some really stupid things. Alot of players trash talk, Schilling, A-Rod but few have ever spouted so many stupid things in one interview regarding another player. A-Rod says Schilling has a big mouth and should keep it close Schilling said that knocking the ball out of Arroyo's hand was pathetic. Nixon takes insult at the fact that A-Rod wants to prepare harder than anyone else in the league? That's a cop-out, pathetic really. Oh and the whole 'limo-driving his girl to school' Where does he get off saying that, his salary last year was 4.5 million for playing less than 50 games! Schilling has an ego, A-Rod has an ego, Nixon is just stupid.
14. cutter is here too :plain 687140 haha cutter is still around. I remember everyone would just bash him. Does he post alot? 687143 nah i was kidding, i dont think he is here 687162 Oh so he isn't PhishPhan?
15. Childish... Yeah A-Rod will have his limo driver bring his girl to school...got to feel bad for blue-collar guys like Nixon, LOL... Plus A-Rod's comments weren't targeted at him, his motivation for working out as intensely as he does is because he wants to be the best, the way to be the best is to prepare better than the rest. He isn't taking away from anyone else. Why would he? No one wants to be the best of the worst. The whole A-Rod isn't a Yankee...what does that mean? If it means that he hasn't played on the Yanks his whole career like Jeter, Bernie and Posada...well yeah...thanks Captain Obvious so I guess Schilling isn't part of the Sox? Or is it just for people that contribute to the success of a team? Because he doesn't even have any right to talk then because he played in less than 50 games during the season...

17. and oh yeah, you replaced your best pitcher and rotation workhorse with a 38 year old 5 inning pitcher who is a prima donna and hates pitching in hot weather. 685748 Yep the same guy who had the lowest ERA of any starter on your team last year...

19. You take shots at our staff for who our 5th starter is? Especially when he is very effective in Pro Player (1.55 ERA in 5 starts) and usually keeps us in most games he pitches? And again, he's our 5th starter. I'm just glad we didn't? spend 13 mil a year for 4 years on a pitcher with rapidly declining skills. 685730 Rapidly declining skills that still blow away anyone in your rotation. The Marlins have more problems beyond Valdez, their top two are injury machines and they have no 6th starter to step up, Dontrelle Willis looks like a gimmick pitcher who got figured out, and yes Ismael Valdez blows big floppy donkey dick. 685740 LMFAO... First off Pedro has serious health problems, Beckett and Burnett can and one of them more than likely will post better numbers than him next season. Check out Burnett and Beckett's WHIP last season. As far as injury prone machines, Beckett's only been sidelined because of blisters and Burnett has only had one significant injury which resulted in the TJ surgery he came back from incredibly strong. To count on Burnett blowing out his rotator cuff and Beckett losing months because of blisters on his hand....is well....stupid. Dontrelle is a gimmick pitcher that got figured out? He had a 4.02 ERA last season, and he is 22 years old you dumbass. He really imploded big there...no way that he can even regroup at that over the hill age of 22 from such a horrific season... Damn your stupidity is mind-numbing. Valdez is a fifth starter, in the context of being a fifth starter he is hardly a liability. Plus those rankings were calculated basically on an injury-free rotation for everyone. Who doesn't have injury concerns on their staff? The Cubs? The Braves? The Mets (LOL)...

21. Braves staff is over-rated, if everyone is injury-free I do think the Cubs rotation is the one to beat. Wood, Prior and Zambrano are all Aces and Maddux is one of the best number 4 guys in the league.

23. No, there shouldn't be. Asterisks are for people that need to be told how to think. Every baseball fan that cares about baseball will always place a mental asterisk next to the accomplishments of Bonds, Giambi and Sheffield because they cheated. As far as those whose names were tossed around by Canseco, IMO it's just way too little to implicate anyone especially when Canseco's own accounts are wrong. Apparantly, the spring training game (Mariners vs. Angels) in which Canseco said he had approached Boone about steroids while conversing with him at second base after getting a double was one in which he never actually got a double. Of course that's hardly a surprise, the guy isn't exactly the most credible man in the world, but he's definitely not a complete liar either. I'm sure that some of the guys he implicated took roids. I think McGwire did do steroids, and Sosa probably as well but some of these other guys like Palmeiro who had maintained a consistent performance for 10 straight years while not suffering any serious injuries at all is hard to swallow.
24. Are you just trying to play the big name artists from the 90s and early 2000s? Just as a suggestion you might want to consider adding bands that are a bit more regional. I don't know if that's something you can or would be willing to do. I only offer the suggestion because the newer stuff isn't something that most people have a significant appreciation for and while some regional bands have been around a while, and have very large fanbases within their primary marketing sector they haven't gotten exposure most elsewhere. Bands like Piebald, Guster, Dropkick Murphys, etc. (New England for example) I don't even know whether or not Flogging Molly is all that popular in South Florida haven't not really stayed there all that long in the last few years. Regardless, I would think that bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, and Jane's Addiction are essential for another alternative rock station.
25. I really don't see the point in a Spanish rock station. Who is going to listen to it? Hispanics that listen to rock will listen to established rock first off. I hated when they put Spanish rock on Zeta on Sunday nights. Older people who listen to spanish music all the time won't just suddenly jump on this rock. And most of the Hispanic youth is listening to hip hop anyways. So what is this good for unless it plays nonstop reggeaton (which wouldn't make sense if it's spanish rock). 682879 They are playing reggaeton, not Spanish rock. It would be preferable if they would have switched Zeta to Spanish Rock instead of the reggaeton/hip-hop/dance trash they're playing now. There are plenty of good Spanish Rock bands that are hardly played on the other Spanish stations in town. Of course, Zeta was awful in its own right. Perhaps this will eventually lead to a true alternative rock station down the road, one that doesn't play Linkin Park and Hoobastank every 30 minutes. 683499 Serioulsy who listens to spanish rock? I dont know anyone who listens to it. I was in puerto rico in January and there wasnt one spanish rock station there. 683525 I don't know anyone from South America or from Mexico that listens to alot of the Carribean music for instance. Just cause it's not big in Puerto Rico doesn't mean it's not big elsewhere Puerto Rican rock ceases to exist, it's abundant elsewhere. I guess the biggest mainstream acts would be: La Oreja de Van Gogh, Mana, Jaguares, La Ley, Los Enanitos Verdes, Juanes (somewhat I guess) etc. It's usually popular with Hispanics from 20 - 40, that have direct ties with Latin America especially if it is outside of the Carribean.
