  1. We don't need to know what honeydew does to you in your private life.
  2. Nah. He has a .649 OPS. He was really good in the playoffs last year but that was about it. Dude is always hurt, too. And to think the Yankees traded Jordan Montgomery for him.
  3. I mean, yeah, but the post I quoted said that the team's vibes have been off since the trade. That isn't true.
  4. Yeah Bell's option is for $16.5 million. Even with as well as he has hit since coming here, he is still OPSing just .747 on the year (and he wasn't great in 2022 either). There is next to no chance any team offers him that kind of money. I would be surprised if he doesn't opt in.
  5. I actually wouldn't mind it so long as it's a one-year deal. Yeah he's been bad here so far but I don't think he just suddenly forgot how to pitch. The dude has been nails for his entire career. Unless the wheels just suddenly came off the second he put on a Marlins uniform (which I guess is actually a legitimate possibility seeing as how, well, Marlins), I am willing to bet he'll be much better next season.
  6. The team was going south long before the Robertson trade.
  7. All I had to do was read the title to know you were the one who made this thread.
  8. They are two games back in the loss column...
  9. I think the thing with this team is that these guys are resilient. That isn't a question. They have shown the ability to pick themselves off the mat after tough losses time and time again this season. So I actually do think they have the intestinal fortitude. It's just that they don't really have the overall talent. Even with the deadline additions, this offense is still trash, and the pitching hasn't been as good since the break (and that's even with Sandy starting to get back to his old self). I don't know. I think they still have what it takes to make the playoffs, because the field of competition is pretty weak overall (evidenced by the fact that they have gone 11-24 since the break and are still right in this thing). But I also think it's pretty clear that there is a dearth of talent here (which I think everyone pretty much knew all along).
  10. I wasn't sure if you were serious or not so I actually looked this up...and you weren't lying. Yeah this confirms my original statement all the more.
  11. Meh. Weird texture. Stringy things attached. Probably my least favorite fruit on its own.
  12. I actually think fruit salad enhances some fruits. For example, I don't like bananas on their own, but I think they are great in fruit salads.
  13. At the very least, they are playing meaningful baseball in late August. It's a start. Even if this team doesn't make the playoffs, there are a lot of reasons to be hopeful for the future. Kim seems to know what she's doing (at least to an extent). It's just a matter of whether or not Bruce opens his wallet at all. I'm not even saying he has to spend like crazy; just spend money in the right places.
  14. It's @mystikol87's fault for being vegan.
  15. I will say that ketchup ruins hot dogs (yes I completely understand the conversation was about burgers but I figured I would throw in my two cents even though it wasn't necessary).
  16. I'm not disagreeing with you that we could use some SP depth, but I feel like this same thing could be said about any team in baseball. Injuries, regression and strange, unplanned for variables are factors for all 30 MLB teams. I actually think the Marlins are in better shape than most teams around the league when it comes to quality starting pitching. Lizard is almost certainly just getting gassed. He's never pitched this much before. It also could be a little bit of hitters learning him, but his stuff is so filthy that I am confident he will be fine. Braxton was good last year as well, so I don't think it's a fluke. I think he's legitimately good. Sandy has really started to right the ship lately. Tons of great pitchers go through weird rough patches (look at Verlander in his latter years in Detroit, for example). I think he'll be fine. Eury is still a kid, but he has looked thoroughly dominant in most of his starts. If Rogers is our No. 5, that's pretty damn good. So even though I agree with you that this team could absolutely use more pitching this offseason because things like injuries are basically inevitable, I think that could be said about literally every team (which you kind of alluded to by saying you can never have enough SP depth).
  17. Yeah the only thing I really like it with is eggs. Completely agree that it does not belong on pretty much anything else.
  18. Massively unpopular opinion: bacon is overrated. Decent, but not great. Flame away.
  19. He's already starting to show signs of it, too. He has a .312 OBP this season. Yeah the power is still there, but the dip in walks is alarming given that he has always been a solid OBP guy (not to mention the fact that he used to be a consistent .300 hitter and hasn't even really sniffed .300 since 2019). So naturally, he'll come to the Marlins and his power will disappear, as well.
  20. Hazing ritual for the new guy, apparently.
  21. This team needed bats more than anything and they got them. Lorenzen was nothing more than an average pitcher at best before this season. I'm completely fine with the Marlins not going "all in" for a guy who has spent most of his career as a reliever and is suddenly having one decent season as a starter at 31 years old.
  22. Cueto is a club option. They are almost certainly not going to pick up that $10.5 million. @Rydawg
  23. Seriously. The fact that Loria has actually chosen to lambast Jeter for this just goes to show that his focus was never truly on baseball. Him criticizing Jeter for trading Yelich and Ozuna is even more hilarious given how many firesales Loria sanctioned. I'm not going to sit here and pretend Jeter did a good job, but Loria is throwing really big stones in a really small glass house.
  24. For those wondering about the context: https://nypost.com/2023/08/14/derek-jeter-blasted-by-ex-marlins-owner-jeffrey-loria/ Well Jeff, you "destroyed" multiple contending rosters. Which is worse? I'd say failing to build a winner in a decade-and-a-half as owner is also a horrible thing to do, but whatever.
