Cabs Goes Lightly
I like that Cabs is limiting his Winter Ball.? Nine games (split betwen OF and 3B), he's hitting .406 (13 for 32) with 2 HR, 2 doubles, and 7 Ribbies. Seems he's properly focused on a long, productive '05 Season! Great! (Reference, Joe Frisario, Official Marlins site) 651200 Incredible performance really. He clearly has outgrown the Venezuelan league. 651209 it won't be long til he outgrows everything else this is soooooooooooooooooo exciting he's truly gonna be special 651370 yeah special until he leaves us in a couple of years and goes to NY for like 115 million dollars. beter enjoy him now while he is still here. 651483 :lol

Official Carlos Delgado Thread
This just in: Marlins offer Delgado one-year contract TSN.ca Staff with files 1/8/2005 Two years removed from their second World Series victory, the Florida Marlins have entered the Carlos Delgado sweepstakes. Multiple baseball sources report that the Marlins have offered Delgado a one-year contract believed to be at least $10 million US. A portion of the money is backloaded, similar to the one-year, $10 million contract that catcher Ivan Rodriguez signed in 2003. Delgado's agent, David Sloane confirmed there were negotiations with the Marlins but would not comment on whether or not an offer had been made. Related Info Report: Orioles restart Delgado talks Delgado: Mets are an attractive option "I have spoken to (General Manager) Admin Beinfest and I will no doubt be speaking to him again," Sloane told the Palm Beach Post. "I don't want to characterize the discussions as good, bad or indifferent, or anything that was said." The Baltimore Sun reported Friday that the Orioles have persuaded Sloane to submit a contract proposal as a starting point for negotiations. Last month, the Orioles made Delgado a three-year offer for less than $30 million. The New York Mets and Texas Rangers are also interested in signing Delgado, who is believed to be seeking a four-or five-year deal worth upward of $15 million a season. Delgado, 32, made $19.7 million last year while batting .269 with 32 home runs and 99 RBI.

Marlin's Catcher
Welcome to the boards There's a good chance the Marlins are going to lock up Paul LoDuca for many years. As for backup, it looks like Matt Treanor and Josh Willingham will fight for the position in spring training. 644891 Pual LoDuca... Yuck! He reminds me of Jason Kendall in a bad way. The pirates gave in to fan pressure and signed him long term for WAY over his vaule, then when he started to suck they couldnt trade him. Any remember CJ? Catchers should not be signed long term :confused 644907 Don't complain. It's not like there are any good catchers on the market right now.

Arriola: Marlins have no deadline for agreeing...
It is incredible how slow and maze-like this stadium deal is going. The Marlins are not going to pay cost overruns because everybody knows that this stadium is going to surpass $550,000,000. If the state legislature doesn't agree to pay the cost overruns, than that will close the curtain on the Marlins in South Florida. I don't want to see the Marlins move to another state, but the way this is going, it would be for the best. http://terraserver.microsoft.com/GetImageArea.ashx?t=1&s=12&lon=-80.2197737056055&lat=25.7799612296136&w=600&h=400&logo=1&p=2:-80.21978633:25.77633992.jpg It would be very hard to build a stadium to the North of the OB. They would have to demolish part of the turnpike, which would be a disaster. I think the east or the west would be fine. +Mguru :cowboy

Jeromy Burnitz
He's hit more thatn 31 HR's each of the last 5 seasons. However, his average sucks alot.
-
Jeromy Burnitz
Jeromy Burnitz seems like the veteran left handed power hitter that the Marlins need. He hit .283 with 37HR and 110 RBI. Cons: -He strikes out alot. Though Burnitz also brings a lot of pop to a lineup, a low average and frequent lack of contact are part of the package. Let the buyer beware.
