  1. As his lawyer I can attest to the consistency of polly's analysis.
  2. 162 games. Best athletes are able to forget a loss and shit performances.
  3. Bush's net worth is relevant. If it weren't, any schlub with enough connections could purchase a team. His net worth is very relevant. If Bush isn't a majority shareholder, it's not really his team. May the majority shareholder lets him be CEO of the team, but it won't be Bush's team. I don't think low energy Jeb is going through all of this work to be a bitch of the team. Time will tell, but I still think Jeb pulls this off. Just don't expect a change in financial strategy that involves spending money. There are minimums to franchise ownership, and my guess is that Bush comes in right at the minimum. Hopefully this is info that gets released after the purchase.
  4. The new ownership group isn't going to fire sale. Get real people. Jeb won't spend big because he can't spend big. He's likely going to limp into franchise ownership. This isn't Robert Kraft buying the team. It's low energy Jeb Bush. Dude is worth less than 22 million bucks. If he wants to win, it's going to be in a style closer to Loria's than ownerships with money. Basically, get ready for Loria 2.0. Likely an improvement over the worst owner in all of sports, but not enough to get anyone panties wet.
  5. Isn't Taiwan just a Chinese island?
  6. Jeb knows all about spending big and not winning: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres16/also-rans.php I think he will fit in just fine here as an owner.

ESPN is just a channel people put up on a few TVs in bars these days. It's shit. It's like CNN. If so many lobbies didn't have it plenting 24/7, no one would really be watching it.
  8. Will ESPN even be around for these marlins games?
  9. May 1st
  10. No you don't.

Does Dr. B watch ESPN? If so, one.
  12. If the sale is finalized before the statue is finished, and Bush doesn't care, it's still going up. If Bush and co don't want the statue, they will have to negotiate it before the sale or take it down after. Loria is a prick for plenty of reasons but one of his qualities is his persistence. He's going to get the statue.
  13. I gotta get back to watching bosch. I really liked the first season. I'll probably rewatch and follow it up with season 2 and 3.
  14. It's going to be the Bush group.
  15. Were Jose's friends having a drunken picnic on the jetty when Jose tried to jump it? SB Edition: Excuse me, sir, but your comparison is unfair. In your hypothetical situation, the two victims are not in the same vehicle as the driver. Jose victims were on the same vessel. While I agree with you that all three deaths are the fault of Jose, or operator the of the vessel, your comparison is inequitable.
  16. Let's see what happens when he's slumping.
  17. The bid process isn't as formal as it seems. It followed whatever format Loria wanted to create. I could literally be a one page letter of intent. Who knows. From different reports, there were really only two "bidders" and Loria has control over the selection. MLB rules and regulations regarding the sale of a team doesn't apply to the teams bidding process. You bring up a good point though regarding proof of funds or at least equity. Because Bush/Jeter don't really have it, Loria probably did include a penalty if an agreement takes too long to finalize or falls through. Who knows. I would. Now is when the ownership group is going to need to show proof of funds and get the approval from MLB owners to purchase. They have a long road ahead of them, because all of the reports show they need to raise a lot of money. My guess is that a Bush connection to some financial group will be used and they'll buy the team.
  18. Something to consider when looking at how competitive the marlins might be in the future is that Jeter is hyper-competitive and I doubt would be interested in being associated with a shit team that just loses. Which make it bizarre that he partnered with low energy Jeb.
  19. fwiw David Samson isn't a talentless dummy.
  20. If I purchased the marlins I would completely rebrand and turn a small section of the ballpark into a "blast to the past" displaying florida/loria miami marlins stuff/championships. I'd keep the championship flags, obviously. Everything else from the team colors to the homerun monstrosity would be radically changed. I would distance myself from the loria marlins as much as possible. So I would either get rid of the statue asap, or negotiate it not being added to the ballpark during my purchase. Maybe I would have it put in the locker room to discourage my players from doing a few 8 balls and getting shitfaced and driving into a fucking pile of rocks with two passengers. Who knows. Also, selling more merch would be nice.
  21. It's not done deal. Bush/Jeter "won" the bidding process but all that means is now the marlins and bush/jeter will start negotiating exclusively with each other. There might be a penalty involved if bush/jeter walk away, but I doubt they would expose themselves to that, especially considering how few "bidders" there actually were. My guess is that bush/jeter need to raise more capital, and that's what they're doing right now. They obviously have extensive networks between the two of them, and they likely will find the money to buy the team, or they will get the money from a private equity group or bring in another parter. Who knows, but they cannot afford the team without outside investment. This brings up another potential problem depending on what the financials look like. Will they have a different financial approach to running the club than Loria did? It's really impossible to tell. It's not hard to be better owners than literally the worst owner in sports, but it doesn't mean they will invest more $ into the team. They might be better in terms of building an organization and not being the laughing stock of baseball, but if the don't have the money, don't expect a spending spree. At the end of the day, this is a business and they will have to answer to their creditors. Time will tell.
