Marlins To Promote Connor Norby
He's got a +.800 OPS at every level since his first year and was the #82 prospect in all of baseball before last year (Baseball America). I agree I would not have him that high and he swings and misses a lot but he has hard contact rate. At the very least he will be better than your buddy Stowers unless he actually dies on the field. Also, he "keeps receipts" and is not real happy with your disparaging remarks so expect him to come out of the gate with a big game tonight and hold on to your hamburger hat. He also promised to give Stowers a bro-hug, so I expect them to both homer tonight as the Marlins win 7-3.

Marlins To Promote Connor Norby
He's currently our #3 prospect on MLB. #1 Hitting prospects. Let's go!

Do Bellozo and Munoz make the team next year?
Assuming we have at least 4 core starters. They are both young, going to turn 25 next year. Both have shown flashes but will either stick or should they go back to the minors for seasoning.

2024 Roster Moves Thread
just to put to rest the thought of gleaning anything from ridiculously small sample sizes, here's a fun one: In his Marlin career, Jesus Tinoco has pitched 9 innings, given up 3 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, and has struck out 11. Clearly he is the greatest player ever. He might even become almighty if he ever got to pitch against Kyle Stowers.

Jazz to Yankees
Serna batting .394 with an OPS of 1.044 since being traded as a 22 yr old in AA. Agustin with only a .838 OPS in his first try at AAA for us, 22 hrs and 20 steals (what? I didn't know this either) on the year, and playing a LOT better defensively doubling his percentage of thrown out runners (albeit, a small sample size) and the rest of his defensive metrics trending upwards as a 22 year old and catcher (you know the position we are historically pathetic at this year). Abrahan "Baby" Ramirez just finished his first season of stateside ball with a robust .348 batting average, a career high OPS, and a BB/K ratio just 1 shy of 1.0, Also still shy of his 20th birthday. Glass Chisholm- 0-1 in NBA2K and failing to crack 100 with the modern NBA rules, literally at the little league world series while his team is in a dogfight for the division, a no-show in Madden last night, and about one bad stretch away from tearing his UCL completely. But someone is Cedar Rapids has The Script's "Nothing" on repeat. "Oh I wanted Jazz but all I got is nothing".

Jazz to Yankees
Jazz is like that guy from Hell's kitchen that said he was always "hunnert". The problem was his output/ product is always "fitty". Eagerly awaiting an update on glass Chisholm's mini Madden tournament this weekend .

MLB Considering Rules To Keep Starting Pitchers In Games Longer
The Marlins have actually been experimenting with this at the low levels. If you watch or read the box scores, they sometimes steal like 9 or 10 bases a game. MLB tweaks the rules, like to stimulate stolen bases- bigger bases, limited throws to first, then the analytics guys come in and take advantage to the extreme. It is happening in all sports and completely changed the way they are played for better or worse They ❣️have embraced the analytics finally with the bendix era but the problem is they were so far behind the curve in the first place that it will cause a lot of short-term suffering, i.e. the abysmal product we currently have. Technology, analytics, and AI have crept into all aspects of society and the evolution of it has created optimal strategies and cost savings (think self checkouts, computer screen ordering at a restaurant, etc. ). Ultimately it is up to the consumer to accept it or reject it. But I digress.

2024 Roster Moves Thread
Victor Victor is involuntary retired. Basically he threw a tantrum, deserted the team, and they told him to kick rocks. And they signed him to get his little brother, kinda like Jazz opened up the market for Bahamians, of which we have a few decent prospects in the Dominican league As for gladiators, Shirley you can't be serious.

2024 Draft
Marlins 3rd round pick Gage Miller was the first 2024 draft pick to get promoted as he was moved up from Jupiter to Beloit. He looked really good at Jupiter in a short stint and is getting reps at both second and third base so far. Miller raked at Alabama with an OPS over 1.000 all three years and has an exceptional BB/K ratio as well.
-
Noble Meyer/Thomas White
Noble has been terrible since going to high-A. Probably time to shut him down for the year and work on his mechanics and start fresh next year. Thomas White has been improving and has a lights-out slider. Right now him and Snelling have passed Noble on the prospects list imo.

2024 Roster Moves Thread
Victor Mesa Jr. was having a pretty good year at AAA and is out for the year with an injury (back, I think). He's still just 22. Victor Victor Mesa or Victor Mesa Mesa, we don't know his vector? What is your vector Victor Victor?

Jazz to Yankees
I imagine they will stay in Jax through the end of their season and then we will see a few of them in Miami. Probably will get some fall league reps on Arizona too. No reason all three don't break camp with the club next year, unless we pull that service time bs

August Game Thread
Bellozo slowly trying to sneak his way into getting some ROY votes. Kid is not like the other journeymen starters, he's only 24. Interestingly his Marlins lineage spans the Ng to Bendix era. We got him in a trade for Jacob Amaya (Bendix) who we got in a trade for Miguel Rojas (Ng).

Luis Manuel Leon
Very hard to find information on this kid but apparently we signed him out of Cuba on May 23, 2024 for $1 million dollars. He is the younger brother of Astros prospect Pedro Leon. He just turned 18 last month and the Cardinals had the inside track on him but something went awry and the commissioner's office declared him a free agent. What we do know is he is already 6'2 and has bulked up from 160 to 175. The buzz on him is he grades out as one of the fastest runners anywhere. Allegedly, 6.2 speed over 60. Have no idea if he can hit, who signed him, and info is very scant. Does not look like he has played in an organized game yet. Cuban prospects can be tricky, but we might have a good one here. Anyone else have any more info?

2024 Draft
They went cheap on Morlando so they could sign Carter Johnson away from college. If you flip the two picks, that's the correct spots they should have gone but the draft cap makes things complicated at times. They don't really go cheap in the draft. They spend their allotted money like every other team does. The Marlins have just been horrific at drafting the right guys. It is an inexact science, but we have had some truly asinine draft strategies in recent years like drafting 23 and 24 year old college pitchers. The player development is a huge problem and today they completely cleaned house which is fantastic going forward. Again the team will succeed by putting their resources towards sharp drafting, key international signings, and shrewd trades. They are taking all the right steps in that direction it appears.

Jazz to Yankees
Don't want to see him get hurt but yeah, the sun is going to rise tomorrow morning as well. .250 for eternity. Gotta admire his consistency year over year.
-
Oz fired
"Reports are the Marlins are overhauling their PLAYER DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT". Long time coming, our track record, or lack thereof, speaks for itself. I have no idea why anyone would have an issue with an issue with this. Yet another step in the right direction.

Jazz to Yankees
No rush to call anybody up. The goal is not to win this year and hopefully get lucky with the draft lottery ping pong balls. Snelling has been lights out as well since the trade. It's going to really upset a lot of the negative Nellie's when these guys actually succeed. The farm is deep and young. We are coming.

Jazz to Yankees
Since everyone is overreacting to Jazz's small sample size (and Stowers), might as well point out that Jared Serna is batting .444 with an 1.176 ops at Pensacola in his first crack at double-A. Yes it's only 11 games but since the chicken littles keep crowing every hour about Jazz's latest 1-4 with a HR, might want to point out it's not all bad news.

2024 Draft
It is really mind-bogglig and hard to explain that we really haven't drafted an impact bat since 2010. That year we drafted Yelich and Realmuto. Outside of that, despite drafting high we have swung and missed badly on a number of premium picks. Outside of a couple pitchers we haven't exactly lit it up on that side either. Josh Naylor and JJ Bleday are the only two bats we've drafted with any amount of success in the majors and neither Is exactly a superstar. This is a huge reason why we are where we are at this point the past few years. We went with a number of hitters this year and a few of them are off to decent starts. Carter Johnson is the guy the Fish are really banking on and he's looked ok so far but as a HS bat he's still a long way off. A couple others, Trimble, Jenkins-Cowart, Miller show some promise, albeit with a really small sample size. Morlando had exactly one at=bat before he got hurt for the year. So it's wait until next year to see what he offers. Drafting, international signings, and trade acquisitions are going to be the key to our success long-term and it is imperative we figure out the draft part sooner rather than later. I trust resources have been allocated to show improvement in that area. We really have had some horrific drafts in about the last 10 years when you look at it. Thus, why we cannot sustain success.

2024 Roster Moves Thread
Saw he was waived the other day and thought he might be worth a shot. He had good stuff but was promoted pretty fast and never adjusted. He's still relatively young and maybe some Mel magic can help. Doesn't throw all that hard though.

WTF is wrong with people rooting for team USA basketball?
Maybe because I have been betting against them every game. How am I doing? Absolutely reprehensible team to watch. Broadcast just as bad. Serbian played their guts out and Curry bailed them out big time. +14.5 never in doubt. Without Trinity Rodman the US Women's soccer team is in the same boat. Noah Lyles, drama queen. You want a real American here, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. Watch how she acted after the race, all class.

August Game Thread
X-man has been on an absolute heater and the only reason to watch the team at this point. Has hit for the cycle, 21 game on base streak. With a hit in the first he is currently batting .388 I'm sure he'll come back to earth , but he's flirting with .400 Say the line Peter, "He gets on base".
