  1. I always attend Fan Fest and couldn't help thinking about the good old days when Fan Fest was held on the field and the players would play catch with the kids. Some of the players would be in the dugout and you could go there and sit and talk to them. The kids could run the bases and it was broadcast on Fox Sports Net. That was awesome. Much better than the last few years. I wish they would go back to having it on the field. Last year they were replacing the sod but when I looked out on the field yesterday nothing had been done to it yet so why not have fan fest out there. I hope management reads this.

    Abe Nunez

In the Sun-Sentinel there is an article that says who is invited to Spring Training and I don't see Nunez listed. I could not believe this. I was sure the way he played this winter that he would be included.
  3. For a good part of last season I kept on saying to myself 10 million dollars for what. For the first two months or so he did nothing and I could not believe how many passed balls there were. I did change my mind quite a bit during the play offs as I felt that Fudge really put in tremendous effort to win the World Series. I also felt that our young pitchers really did well with him calling the games but to be perfectly honest. yes I would have loved to have him back but I totally agree that they should not sign a 4 year deal with him especially for 10 million dollars a year. He kept on saying how he loved playing in Miami so he could to be near his family so now his children will hardly see him during the playing season and also he will not be able to enjoy his beautiful house in Miami all because he could not agree on 2 million less a year. How much money does he need. Isn't his family and trying to defend the World Championship more important than that. I just hope that Ramon Castro can work well with our pitchers and his numbers are as good as Fudge''s so we can all say who needed him back.

    Andy Fox

We now have the first player from our 2003 team gone. Andy Fox has signed a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training with the Texas Rangers. He was a good guy and I wish him luck. When they didn't put him on the playoff roster I figured this would be his last year with us.
  5. I was at opening day last year and I hope to be there this year to see the Marlins get their rings. How exciting. I can't wait to see how our team performs in 2004 and who will be on it. If we get back most of our players I think they will have a very huge turnout. Last year was my first opening day I ever attended and it was exciting.
  6. I am so happy to see Dontrelle get this award. Can't wait to see him pitch in 2004.
  7. I also heard that someone was inpersonating him in Chicago and that he is here in Florida. I hope that the newspapers write the truth tomorrow. When I heard this story originally I couldn't believe that an intelligent man would say such a thing like this. I am glad that it wasn't true. I still can't stand the man after what he did to us in 1997.
  8. I have dsl also and I pressed 56K and it worked. Try that.
  9. I am so proud of our MARLINS. Many times over the years I would feel so bad for the players especially in 1998 when they just weren't ready to contend with the big boys but it sure feels good to see that these same players have now grown up and are so talented. Jack McKean has been wonderful for this team. He doesn't rant and rave but in his own quiet way he lets the players know what he wants and they definitely respond to him. I can't wait for the play offs. GO MARLINS!
  10. I am thrilled to have Conine back with the Marlins. He is a veteran who has World Series experience and is a good contact hitter. I really like the moves that Beinfest makes. In a quiet way he gets things done the right way. GO MARLINS!

    Fox Game

Next Saturday, Aug. 23rd the Marlins and San Francisco will be playing their game on Fox at 4:00 p.m. They will have the Phillies game at 1:00 p.m. and then ours will follow. I was really surprised as I don't remember a time when Fox ever broadcast one of our games. I think that Beckett will pitch and I sure hope that the Marlins play good ball and that Beckett pitches the way he is capable of.
  12. I e-mailed Bernadino this morning and told him what I thought of his article. I am so sick of all these reporters being so negative of the Marlins. They are negative whether the ownership does something positive or negative. I hope that he loses his job reporting on the Marlins next year.
  13. I totally agree with you. Hank Goldberg is a horrible individual. He thinks that he knows it all. I don't know why he hates the Marlins the way he does but he is a fool to think that last years team is better than this years team. Why didn't we win last year with that team if they were so good. Can he answer that question. All we had last year were pitchers who walked everyone (Dempster) and lots of hitters that continuously struck out (Preston and C.J.) and a good hitter in Floyd but with health issues. I wish there was some way to stop our local radio stations from constantly putting down our team. I wanted to say one other thing. Everyone keeps on saying how few fans there are for the Marlins. I know of many people including myself that love the Marlins but can't go to every game. I do go sometimes but I try to watch just about every game on T.V. The Marlins do have many, many fans whether they want to believe it or not. I am so sick of hearing about the attendance all the time. I do believe that the very hot weather and constant rain does ruin the attendance to a certain degree but what can you do this is what we have.
  14. I agree with McKeon on stealing bases. So many times when a player steals and makes an out I get furious why he attempted to steal a base. I like the fact that only Pierre and Castillo will have the green light always and the others will have to get the signal to steal. I am really beginning to like our new manager a lot. While I liked Torborg very much as a person there were many times that I didn't agree with his managing. When Hollandsworth was having such a tough time in April hitting he should have given him some days off and played Banks but he just stuck with him. McKeon wants to win games and he will do anything he has to do even if it might hurt the feelings of the players. I am beginning to think that there still might be some hope for this season if we can only get Atlanta to go into some kind of slump.
  15. I have been extremely disappointed in him. At first I was thrilled that he was going to be playing for our team but to tell you the truth I now believe that Redmond and Castro could have done a better job than he is doing. What drives me the most crazy is to see all the double plays that he hits into. I was glad to see that Torborg got him out of the 3rd spot last night but I think that he has to hit even a little further down in the order. I would rather see Lowell (3) and then Encarnacion (4) and then maybe Pudge. In my opinion he is nowhere worth the $10 million he is being paid.
  16. I was not impressed when Tony Perez was the manager because he stopped our running game almost completely. That is one of the main aspects of this team that they can run whenever they want and it makes the pitchers very nervous. I like Torberg. He has a good relationship with the players. The one thing I did not like last year but he seems to be correcting it this year is giving his bench a chance to play more. It is important to have all players swing the bat as otherwise they lose their timing. Just look at Redmond. Last year he hit so well for us when he caught but so far this year he just strikes out. He needs more playing time but to be honest I have more confidence when Pudge is catching. As far as Leyland goes I read an article that said that yes he was a very good manager when he managed a winning team (1997) but did nothing after he left us for Colorado. Anybody can manage a real good hitting team. I did like Boles very much. I thought he did a great job with all the young players we had in 1998 but the problem with him was that he didn't stick up for his team enough. Too soft spoken. Sometimes a manager does have to fight for his team.
