  1. “Many fans and people in the baseball world want to reverse this trend” ok…is this really true? “Along with the pitch clock and the rules to incentivize base stealing, the league is hoping for a more action-oriented game and better entertainment product.” I see the pitch clock rule as an excuse for scoring runs, not saving time. The above quote states the truth, but I thought originally when the pitch clock rule was in implemented it was for saving time? My point is, it’s not a coincidence that the bullpen is a nothing burger, just so scoring can be up. By this rule, I wouldn’t be surprised if velocity goes down appearing like it’s for inning control when it’s actually geared for more home runs. In the article they admitted that a pitcher has no control when a ball is at play yet they think pitching for contact will increase more innings pitched? This is plausible but batters hit for power these days making the strike out pitcher a lot more necessary with better K-rates. I could be wrong but didn’t SO pitchers become more prevalent because batters started hitting for power? If a league says they want a better ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCT that should be red flags, unless your a sports fantasy junky.
  2. Even LeBron’s health trainer couldn’t keep Jazz off the IL. Lebron has played more years than Jazz has days without getting injured. Get well Jazz, you superstar.
  3. I thought you like guys that had high K rates? We traded no one of importance but Arraez. If you really believe the Marlins farm didn’t vastly improve because of rankings, just remember 4-5 yrs ago we ranked as a top 10 farm system. I could be wrong on that however. Rankings aren’t so accurate and even if they are there’s a lot that can go wrong, injures, poor player development & bad trades Gallen for Jazz for example. The pitching rotation will be stacked fully by mid season next year. Let’s see what happens.
  4. Don’t forget the G.OAT as well. I’m pretty sure Justin Fields was a dynamic superstar in your book? Not being mean here, but ground control is saying you need to come back down to earth.
  5. Jazz makes Cooper look like an iron man.
  6. It’s very hard believing that a team can whiff in the draft as they have an it not be an internal problem? Bleday will be a stud in a couple yrs, yet I’m convinced If he was a Marlin at this present time, he’d be in the minors looking like another bust right now. Don’t get your hopes up, this draft should show that they prefer saving bills when they didn’t draft the prospects you wanted in the first round. Cutting corners like this is definitely effecting the farm systems and we wonder why player development is so handicapped. btw I enjoy your posts.
  7. Jazz lucked out when they eliminated the shift. He’d basically be an auto out or HR if they didn’t. Guy could double his run production with a skills and a different attitude.
  8. Seems like the bats wake up when Jazz is out of the lineup. I mean how can you produce when there’s a .250OBP guy leading off? It effects the moral but don’t except you to understand because there’s more to batting than getting on base. Imagine being a cleanup hitter knowing that there’s no one to clean up because the leadoff guy went down on strikes and adjusting his bling thinking he’s the next Acuna Jr.
  9. Lazardo seems like a starter who could be an elite closer with that max effort one inning mentality. Bullpen shouldn’t be a problem by mid season next year with the flux of starting pitchers that will emerge here soon. I’m just reiterating what’s already been said basically.
  10. “Jeter is the worst defensive player of all time by advanced defensive metrics, with a career Defensive Runs Saved total of -155. Yep, you read that right, the master of the acrobatic play that we have all come to attach his name to ended his career negative 155 defensive runs saved. But wait, there has to be a logical explanation for this. However, there isn't. One can realize that -155 is actually much lower than the actual total when you account for the fact that Defensive Runs Saved started being tracked in 2003. Luckily for all of the Jeter fans out there, there was still an advanced statistic to rate players defensively during the early years of Jeter's career. Unfortunately for Jeter and those firmly believing in his exceptional, Gold Glove earning fielding abilities, the statistic of Total Zone Total Fielding Runs Above Average was in existence. Over the years from 1995 to 2002, Derek Jeter was rates as -89 Total Zone Total Fielding Runs Above Average, while only playing seven full seasons at shortstop. Jeter simply made flashy plays, played in New York, and had the "golden boy" face/image, which managed to somehow propel him to 5 Gloves despite putting up RDRS (BIS Defensive Runs Saved Above Average) totals of -13, -27,-16, 3, and -9. Yes, you read that right. Derek Jeter won four Gold Gloves with a negative Defensive Runs Saved Total. To put in perspective how egregious it is that Jeter won the Gold Glove with a RDRS total of -27 Defensive Runs Saved. And to really put in perspective how bad a -27 RDRS is, you have to go back to 2009 just to find another career shortstop who had a season with a RDRS as equally bad as -27. That is tied for the fifth worst season total for RDRS for a shortstop in the history of Fangraphs recording the stat, which goes back to the 2003 season.” https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/dztzmm/derek_jeter_is_statistically_the_worst_fielder_in/?rdt=57048
  11. I have a feeling her nephew is around 12-16 and knows little about baseball if Jazzzz is their favorite player. MLB is a market they want to reach the youth.
  12. Maybe. But what’s their excuse for wanting Rogers? Dude can’t get past the 5th with barely any SO. These knee jerk reactions have to be influenced by another motive. Someone can’t get over the Jazz trade and I’m guessing you didn’t like NG getting fired? Who knows, The deciding factor could have been as simple as one team being over stacked and didn’t mind throwing in a mid aged prospect.
  13. Sherman came in with guns loaded, firing Marlin icons (Dawson, Jack Mckeon & Mr. Marlin). He’s also fired or went through 2 GMs and 2 coaches after this year. That’s something Loria could appreciate being he did the same things. Sherman and Loria are mirror images right now. Success or failure in a modest time frame usually becomes transparent that it always starts from the top. If the foundation (owner) is unstable then it will eventually lead to rebuilding again and again. So here are some examples, Loria hired Sampson (brother in law) a nobody errand boy who talks fast and is quick witted. Sherman hired Jeter a HOFer who had no experience at all. These owners clearly don’t understand the importance of a healthy resume. You can tell Frankenstein to build through the draft, or through FAgency and he can but that doesn’t mean it be successful. That’s what has happened thus far. Now Bendix might actually have a resume under his belt so time will tell, If so, then Sherman corrected one of his own problems even if he is a cheap skate like Loria. If I had to choose who is worse, Loria gets my vote alone just for changing those classic teal uniforms.
  14. Here’s one issue for me, if Sandy returns back to form, most likely in 2026, the blueprint should already be in place, yet you mentioned that Sandy should be traded for maximum value. However the Astros and the Giants teams you mentioned probably wouldn’t agree with this based on their history. Trading Sandy is exactly why you need a greenprint once the blueprint is checked though. Sustained success through the blueprint is nice (Rays) but it shows that even a hiccup can turn your season into a setback. You have to buy insurance so you can protect the franchise a little bit.
  15. Maximizing returns on the goal of saving dollars can only get you so far. Regardless If the theory is right, at some point FA or extensions are prevalent in winning championships (Dodgers, NY, Atlanta). No way am I saying that we have those payrolls but you have to spend or we’ll be just like the Rays. Yes, they do well on what you’re saying but I’m sure the Ray fans had enough of them not spending when the time is right. They are basically a farm system too are they not? They just are better than us.
  16. The line in the sand should stop somewhere. I thought Arraez was that line but I’m reluctant again after the trade deadline. However if they trade Lizard, Alcantara, Garrett, Meyer or Cabrera without it helping RIGHT AWAY, makes no sense and will show if they really want to contend or basically be a a fam system for other teams. I’m not opposed to any trades as long as it lines up both with the present and the future. Like mentioned from the post above, they should have done more in FA last year given the fact that we made the postseason, the fans deserve d it. . The only reason I wasn’t angry was because Alcantara was injured and I knew Lizardo couldn’t carry the load like a true ace.
  17. Sport leagues have players who are in good graces, especially ones who can help the sport. Jazz is good for the growth of the sport which I care little about. No need to bet because the league will never let Jazz go 0-16 in NY. He could have 5 errors but only be credited with 1. Same goes for hits.
  18. He wasn’t a core player statistically, but he was a team captain in the Mattingly era. Rojas never caught napping like Jazzzzz.
  19. I like these kind of players rather than the 5 tool guys who aren’t great at any one area and never end up doing much. I still prefer quality of quantity, yet we didn’t get either of those. Not complaining. Nice post!!
  20. True, but I don’t like adding a vet inning eater when you can just find a scrub or tax the bullpen. We need a cleanup bat, I’d also like a catcher while I’m at it. J. Sanchez you can pack your bags buddy boy reinforcements are on the way.
  21. Do you think any of our pitchers besides Luzardo, Alcantara & Meyers can net a bat worth getting? I can see Cabrera as a possibility or one of our top pitching prospects but I’d like to see a trade that really improves the lineup, kinda like Lopez for Arraez.
  22. The starting rotation should be stacked in 2025, so much so that they can add some starters into the bullpen (Weathers, Cabrera, Sixto etc). This should free up some capital on a premier bat this offseason. Building around Burger and Edwards plus some of those power bats we acquired in trades can put us back in contention. Atlas, it won’t happen (spending that’s why they hired Benatrick.
  23. Won’t happen, he’s good for baseball. His only hit today should have been an error. I think the only way they turn on Jazz is if him & Judge have a conflict of interest.
  24. Jazz was given every opportunity to do his thing though. That’s more than most players could dream of. You mentioned “no core” but Rojas, a true core player was sent packing. I won’t mentioned who could have played a part in that. Also, another oddity, last years playoff run at 10 games under .500 began right after Jazz went down. Ok, I can’t help myself, Mattingly (not defending) he and Jazz had their quarrels, Jazz won that situation. Sorry for the rant, I’m just thrilled he’s gone.
