The Murder Weapon may have been dumped in a canal. Chris Reyka Murder Weapon May Be In Canal Reporting Carey Codd POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) ― Detectives could have a break in the murder case of BSO Deputy Chris Reyka, and it involves details of a possible dumped murder weapon. According to a Miami Herald report, a key witness in the case told detectives that he believes the weapon used to kill Reyka was dumped in a Pompano Beach canal by someone dealing with a gang suspected of robbing several area drugstores. Detectives are looking for the weapon that could link someone involved with the gang to the crime. The report states that the same weapon used to kill Reyka may have been among those used by the gang in their drugstore robberies. Timothy Johnson, who was already arrested in December, is considered the ringleader of the gang. However detectives may be looking at the possibility that Johnson's brother, and his sister, Consuelo Jones, may have devised a plan to hire someone to get rid of the weapons. Until now, police had been tight-lipped about divulging whatever little info they had on the murder that occurred at a Pompano Beach Walgreens store on August 10, 2007. In the early morning hours Reyka was conducting a car theft detail in the area, and was about to approach a suspicious car parked at Walgreen's. "We don't know what trouble he got into but he got into trouble," Miami Police Lt. Bill Schwartz told CBS4's Sharrie Williams. Miami police said that Walker, who worked in the domestic violence division, had been cleared from duty at 11:00 p.m. Monday night and they are not sure why he was in North Miami Beach. "We don't know why he was here," said Lt. Schwartz, "Perhaps he came upon something that required police action." Walker was shot multiple times with a high-powered weapon. There were casings everywhere said Lt. Schwartz. In addition, there were blood trails leading off in different directions away from the car which seems to indicate others were injured," according to Lt. Schwartz. "The car had been shot multiple times, also Walker also shot death, we don't know how many times." Officers in flak jackets, helmets and rifles walked around the scene as investigators searched the area for clues. One of those clues includes a 2001-2007 white Ford Taurus. Police say the right rear side of the car has damage and bullet holes and may be connected to the death of officer Walker. On Tuesday officers from the city of Miami and North Miami Beach, and FBI agents were searching the area for clues that could lead to any suspects. Nearly 12 hours after the shooting and murder, police officers removed the body from the vehicle and transferred it to the Medical Examiner's office. His body was transferred to on a gurney with an American flag on it on a Miami Fire Rescue truck. As the Walker's body was being transferred a City of Miami police officer was knocked off his motorcycle off I95. Apparently the unidentified officer, apparently collided with a white Mercedes. The officers was loaded into an ambulance and transferred to a nearby hospital. He was responsive and police said he is expected to recover from his injuries. "He was a good, humble guy. He was no trouble. I can't tell you no flaws." A woman who didn't want to be identified who lives a nearby apartment complex where the incident happened said she heard the gunshots. She also said she saw 3 men running from the scene carrying a riffle. "Last guy saw me, he saw me still in his hand riffle," she said. Police said they are questioning 3 people including 1 who was found wounded about a block away from the shooting. CBS4's Ileana Varela talked to investigators who said they have one person in custody that was wounded in the arm, however they don't know if the wounded person was an innocent bystander or someone who was involved in the shooting. While police were searching for clues on the scene, they found a high powered rifle which was taken to the lab, said CB4's Ileana Varela. Schwartz said Walker's murder would be jointly investigated by the Miami Police Department and the North Miami Beach Police Department. Walker's death is the fourth fatal shooting of a South Florida law enforcement officer in the past six months. Miami-Dade police officer Jose Somohano was fatally shot in shootout with a suspect in September. Broward sheriff's deputy Chris Reyka was fatally shot in August while looking for stolen vehicles behind a drug store, and BSO deputy Paul Rein was shot with his own weapon while transporting an inmate to court in November. LSU wont be better than UM for long just remember who we've gotten to commit so far and what pisses me off is that he actually said he "Bleeds Orange and Green" and its either "Go to the U or get beat by the U" he just f*cked himself over.
