  1. BERLIN (AFP) ? Michael Schumacher may well be the fastest taxi driver in Germany after the seven-times world champion shocked a cab driver by taking over the wheel in order to be on time for a flight. Schumacher, 38, flew into the aerodrome at the Bavarian town of Coburg on Saturday and took a taxi to the village of Gehuelz, 30 kilometres away, to pick up a new puppy - an Australian Shepherd dog called "Ed". But when the former Formula One ace, plus his wife and two children, caught a taxi back to the airport they were short on time and, after a polite request, cab driver Tuncer Yilmaz watched in wonder as Schumacher took the wheel. "I found myself in the passenger seat, which was strange enough, but to have "Schumi" behind the wheel of my cab was incredible," Mr Yilmaz told the Muenchner Abendzeitung. "He drove at full throttle around the corners and over-took in some unbelievable places." Mr Yilmaz was well rewarded for the unusual journey - on top of the 60 euros (88 US dollars) fare, he was also given a 100 euros (146 US dollars) tip. Schumacher's spokesperson Sabine Kehm later confirmed the story. The German track ace, who now lives in Switzerland, retired from Formula One in 2006 after a glittering career and, despite test drives for his old team Ferarri, has insisted there is no chance of a return to racing. link
  2. Conspicuous by their absence: John Cena (who was on the latest tour of Iraq) Lashley (injured, but still surprising) That would ruin their big returns if they appeared on anything other than video
  3. Dolphins are winning this week
  4. Overall it was a pretty good show but I really think it needed the Rock well Dwayne is a homo
  5. Trish was off the roids or something she looked tiny besides those bazookas
  6. some awesome dudes in this battle royale
  7. I just can't imagine why the Marlins wouldn't have have tried to get him in the last trade.... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
  8. take off the taskbar so i could use the Maybin wallpaper lol
  9. Ryan Braun Fausto Carmona Diasuke Matsuzaka Alex Gordon Phil Hughes Homer Bailey Justin Upton Tim Lincecum Cameron Maybin Yovanni Gallardo Andy LaRoche Billy Butler Luke Hochevar Joey Votto Jarrod Saltalamacchia Jeff Clement Hunter Pence Felix Pie Clay Buchholz Joba Chamberlain of course it depends on what your needs are, but those are the guys I would look at... I didn't rank them though
  10. IMO we need a pitcher starter, a reliever and a 3B. I would like a lofton signing to groom maybin but tthat seems not possible. Opinions on our needs and who could be our next signing target ? thanks and GO MARLINS GO ! we do not need a reliever we do not need a starter we could use a 3b
  11. Go back to Colletti and get LaRoche. We're not going back to the Angels for Wood, so I would say he's the guy you want. The Dodgers need pitching prospects going forward and relievers for 2008. If there's a better 3B prospect/ready for prime-timer go get him but if we're going young(er) do the right thing and at least see if we can pry LaRoche away somehow. DREAMMMMMM, dream dream dream dream DREEEEAAAMMM! Sorry 2003, had to do it man. It appears that ship has sailed and may not be back for a long time. I believe the Dodgers would accept 2 relief pitchers for LaRoche. I doubt they wanna negotiate with the Marlins anytime soon. It appear neither are the Dodgers or the Angels are thrilled with how the Marlins negotiated the Cabrera trade. Then again this is baseball who know? ummmm no
  12. De Aza went into Winter Ball to work on hitting the off speed crap. Any word on how he is doing? The kid dosen't have the supposed power of Maybin but he sure does cover alot of territory in our huge CF and he makes defenses think about him when he gets on base. IMO, nothing wrong with a fast, base stealing contact hitter leading off. I like what you getting at Bob, I could not agree more he needs to be able to hit first to fit into that equation 13/73 .178/.247/.315
  13. With Teagarden coming up, does that make him or Salty tradable, or would they move him to 1st or DH. 1st/dh
  14. Carroll can play CF, as can Cody Ross So you're saying these are better options than Maybin? at this point, probably I mean if Cam goes all Hanley on us and blows up as a rook, that would be sweet but he prob needs some at bats in AA anyway Cody is more than capable, and I'm intrigued by Carroll i would like to see what carroll can do too if he does well we just found our left fielder for 09 if he plays like crud what did we lose nothing Carroll is a joke. .849 ops in 100abs in carolina and .958 ops in 318 abs with the topes last season ya he is a joke ramp brett was drafted as a third baseman any chance we see him return there next season? Please, let's not talk about Carroll here... He has no future... with anybody. Yea, an outfielder with good power and can play all 3 outfield spots at age 24 has no future with anybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
  15. The point Lou is trying to make (an extremely good and accurate one) is that it makes no sense to start Maybin in the bigs in terms of contract status and team level of competition. It does more good to the team to put a Ross or a Carroll or Amezaga out in CF for the time being since the Marlins aren't competing this year. It only improves his confidence and game, extending is tenure for when the team actually needs him. He is 20 years old for christ sake and struggled in his limited ABs last season. There is no reason to start him in CF opening day. Your extremely crass mode of discourse is very consistent with your complete lack of knowledge of the game. I understand that... But that's not a good enough reason to hold him back right now. Cameron Maybin WILL get 200+ AB's this season. 20 years old or not, arbitration 3 years from now or not, he will get 200+ AB's. Do you disagree about that? You guys beat around the bush and don't get to the point. Are you retarded? Every single person here thinks Maybin gets 200 at bats this year. If he comes up in April, or if he comes up in July, he'll get his at bats Not one single person has argued that... I think
  16. If Maybin needs some more time then it's not the end of the world if Cody is out there for '08. If all goes well, maybe Ross can learn how to hit righties, too. If that were to happen... Hello, 30 homers. Cody wouldn't stay healthy enough anyway

  18. Amezaga was a real good defensive CF and with a good arm too, just sayin' Amezaga does not have a good arm, and he was a much improved CF, but not a good one
  19. Has Mr. Seabol signed somewhere else? I think most of his year last was can be credited to the whole, you know, PCL thing, but being able to re-sign him to a minor league contract for depth would be nice. Seabol is out in Asia
  20. If something happens where we dont get anyone through a trade etc... Are there any 3rd baseman in our system that could start at third? Holly within the organization you would be looking at Lee Mitchell or Grant Psomas. Psomas had a horrendous season, therefore he wouldn't be promoted. Mitchell with a strong spring could win the job. I even believe they could try yet another position change for Brett Carroll and move him to 3rd base. He could man the position til Matt Dominguez is ready Grant Psomas is a first baseman and a terrible third baseman, Brett Carroll hasn't played 3b since 2003 but if we feel like somehow getting worse at the hot corner, by all means, let's just throw sh*t out there and see if it sticks
  21. Jackson makes me puke. he's just 24 though
  22. f*** that, Brennan is good
  23. Lofton is a good option. He made $6mil last year, $3.8mil the year before He hit .296/.367/.414 in 490 at bats there's no chance we can afford him
