Something that McKeon said about AJ
Well those extra innings in Spring didn't seem to hurt Dontrelle too much. I know Dontrelle is a special guy and not everyone can be Dontrelle but AJ is the guy with the best stuff on the staff but he's an idiot and a jackass. At least we get some compensatory picks when he signs elsewhere as a free agent. Too bad we didn't unload him before the deadline.

Something that McKeon said about AJ
They may make the playoffs but at what price? Oh brother. What are they playing the season for? For next year? Yeah we should save AJ's arm for next year when he'll be [over] paid $15 Million by some sucker. If your going to be a starting pticher you should expect to pitch 200 innings. Maybe that's too old school, but that's what I expect a "superstar" to do.

Something that McKeon said about AJ
What you are seeing is vintage Jack McKeon managing and the results it brings. Don't blame AJ or Beckett for that matter. All those early season complete games are coming back to haunt the Marlins. I don't care about pitch counts either. AJ has had Tommy John surgery. Now Beckett has "shoulder tendinitus". They say it's bothering him in the back of his shoulder. Uhmmm....that's where Bump's was bothering him as I recall and it ended up he had a torn labrum and had surgery to correct it. Of course Bump didn't pitch all that many innings in games BUT he sure warmed up constantly without being used and that had to contribute to the injury. Jack is a pitcher's nightmare. I am sure AJ will not like what Jack said. The Marlins may be sorry they didn't fire Jack in July! Having watched Jack's managing all season, this was all predictable with more to come I might add. They may make the playoffs but at what price? 937856 Do I disagree with some of the moves Jack makes, sure. But I really love all of these people who are willing to peg all the blame for everything on the manager. Fact is he did more with less than Leyland, who is supposed to be this great manager. AJ and Beckett are a couple of whiny bitches ad primadonnas. How could AJ be hurt as you allege if he's still throwing it at 97 mph? His injury is between the ears. As other have pointed out, if he pitches rather than throwing he'll be more successful. And guess what? He'll also put less stress on his arm and elbow. Changes speeds, locate your pitches. Speaking of not pitching many innings, Beckett has the least amount of innings of the big 3. These guys (AJ and Beckett) just need to step up. It looks like Beckett may be starting to come out of it. I think his problem is that he's not interested unless the game is important. At least he looks disinterested. He doesn't like a guy who wants to take the ball every 5th day during a 162 game season, only in the last month of the season and playoffs.

MarlinsAddict Looks Ahead: Astros Series
sorry didn't know you had such rules. I am relatively new to this board but it seems very active with smart posters. My buddies and I are trying to broaden the Marlins fandom on the blogosphere (which is unfortunately pretty small for a team as successful as the fish). So again sorry if I broke any rules. Is my signature OK?

The "George Bush hates black people" VIDEO
First off the Video is hilarious. I had heard the clip a million times on Lebatard's radio show but the video is even funnier. Of course Kanye West has the right to say whatever he wants. Contrary to what the leftists constantly tell us, we are still free to say whatever we want about the president and the government. If Bush were the Nazi they claim he is they would have all been put in concentration camps long ago. That's the problem with the left. It's all about hyperbole. Depending on what day it is Bush is either a dumbass or an evil genius. These two things are irreconcilable by the way. Nobody is more pissed about the perception that the Fed government was slow to react than the president and his advisors. I assure you they didn't want this to happen. Even if they didn't "care about black people" they care about the polls and the president's political capital. Remember he's got 3.5 years left to run the country. I don't think what Kanye West did took courage. What Oscar Elias Biscet, the opposition leader in Cuba does when he speaks out against Castro takes courage. He's in prison for disagreeing with his "president". It take no courage to make jackass out of yourself. I do it all the time in the privacy of my anonymous life, it's actually quite easy. I'm sure doing it on National TV isn't much harder.

Hey AJ.
I hope he gets all his money. Pretty soon (if not already) the Yankees will have more dead payroll than live payroll. I love it when these guys fall all over themselves to give guys contracts like Pavano who is stealing his 39.5 million. Love it. In Beinfest I trust!

Potential for New Marlins Owner?
The city has put in their part. Miami is a huge city with many areas in needs to improve first(transportation, crime, education, the budget) beforte investing more money in a team thats not theirs. This is Lorias team. If he wants the stadium that bad, he needs to ante up his money. 937682 If you think that NOT building the stadium will do anything to alleviate these problems, you're not only mistaken your naive. Most of the money committed to this stadium by the city and county is coming from specific sports and entertainment related budgets/taxes. The ed and transport issues require fundamental gov. reform.

Local10.com Poll
I've sat in that stadium for a rare sold out game and have felt the entire structure shake. It's a wonder that there hasn't been a calamity yet. There aren't enough bathrooms and speaking of which when you are walking through the labyrinth of tunnels what's that liquid that's dripping everywhere. Gross! OB has got to go.

Then they should build an "Orange Bowl" Museum and fill it with warm and fuzzy pictures and memories. They HAVE spent millions since the Dolphins left, in upkeep and renovations and the building is still falling apart. A baseball satdium on that site would have a smaller footprint and allow for more parking. Keeping a building around for sentimental reasons is about as smart as getting attached to a ballplayer that is overvalued. See http://www.floridafishfan.blogspot.com to see what I'm talking about. And about the history of the OB, give me a break. Does it have more history than Tiger Stadium or Ebbets Field? These are buildings and when they start to crumble they need to be torn down. Spending 100+ million dollars on renovating that piece of junk and allowing the Marlins to get away would be a crime against this community. All for a small private school that most of its fans didn't attend. Give me a break. A true Marlins fan blog: http://www.floridafishfan.blogspot.com

Local10.com Poll
I say yes. Tear down that eyesore and build the Marlins stadium along with a huge parking garage and a people mover to the jackson metrorail station. The canes play 6 home games so they could easily move to Joe Robbie Stadium (I know it Dolphins Stadium but I don't care). Even the Orabge Bowl game isn't played at the Orange Bowl anymore. MarlinsAddict Looks Ahead: Astros Series
Our upcoming series against Houston could determine whether the Marlins or the Astros will be in the post-season. With the Astros currently scheduling Clemens, Pettitte and Oswalt for the weekend series against the Brewers, it looks like we may face some combination of Astacio, Backe, or Rodriguez in the first two games, and then Clemens and Pettitte on Wednesday and Thursday. However, I would not be surprised to see Garner juggle the rotation, give Oswalt an extra day of rest, and start him against the more potent Marlins lineup on Monday. Whether we face two or three of the Astro's big three pitchers, any of which would be the staff ace on most other teams, we should have a different one approach to the game when facing Clemens, Pettitte and potentially Oswalt, and another approach when facing Astacio, Backe, and Rodriguez... read the rest at your home for in depth Marlins analysis: http://www.floridafishfan.blogspot.com
