    Week 5 WR

Johnson, Holmes and Walter definitely. I would go White over Walter if SF's defense wasn't as good as it has been ... but the Cardinals secondary have been terrible so Walter has a good match-up.
  2. Phillies beat Colorado 5-1 on the back of a complete game by Cliff Lee. Yankees currently up 6-2 in the 7th against the Twins.
  3. My predictions: ALDS Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels: Angels in 4 New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins: Yankees in 5 NLDS Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies: Rockies in 4 St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: Cardinals in 3 ALCS Yankees vs. Angels: Yankees in 6 NLCS Rockies vs. Cardinals: Cardinals in 7 World Series Cardinals vs. Yankees: Cardinals in 6 MVP: Matt Holliday
  4. ALDS Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels: New York Yankees vs. Minnesota Twins: NLDS Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: ALCS ??? vs. ??? : NLCS ??? vs. ??? : World Series ??? vs. ??? : MVP:
  5. Can't blame Rodney if he implodes here. Silly decision to leave him in, regardless of if it works or not.
  6. STRIKEOUT!!! What a game. C'mon Twins!!!
  7. According to Yahoo this is their roster: Baker, Scott Crain, Jesse Duensing, Brian Gabino, Armando Guerrier, Matt Liriano, Francisco Mahay, Ron Manship, Jeff Mijares, José Nathan, Joe Pavano, Carl Rauch, Jon Bolded names have already been used in this game. Manship would have to be next you would think, but really, they're all starters left. Duensing has been pencilled in for a start tomorrow if the Twins win so you would think he would be a last resort. EDIT: Damn Rab you're fast!
  8. Agreed Rab, plus he did a bad job to get back in time. The Twins are burning way too many arms in the bullpen imo .. if this game goes more than another two innings they may have to burn one of their starters. Actually.. just a thought.. because this is still considered a regular season game, this means the Twins would still have access to their extended September call-ups, right? It's not as if they're using a 25-man roster for this game ... right?
  9. Casilla did a heck of a job with the slide considering the throw had him by a mile. It was such a close call that either way the decision went I wouldn't have been upset.
  10. OMG!!! What a game!!! Twins tie it, and with 1 out and 2 runners on the corners, the Tigers get a DP including throwing the lead runner out at home on a sac fly attempt. This is one of the best games I've seen this year. We now go to the 11th!
  11. Inge just saved the game for Detroit with a diving stop. Going to the 10th inning.
  12. Hell of a game so far. Tied 4-4 going into the bottom of the ninth. Nathan just got a huge DP to keep the game tied. Go Twinkies!
  13. I think the point here is that the Tigers are in the midst of a crucial weekend series to clinch the division and their best player is out drinking something fierce until the wee hours of the morning. He then proceeds to suck the next day, which was probably the most crucial day for the Tigers to win. What a moron.
  14. Uh oh, wait until Erick gets ahold of this thread... For the record, I agree. He has made some boneheaded decisions, no doubt ... but overall he has done a good job with the talent he's been given.
  15. No offense as you've obviously gone to a lot of trouble with that, but what a load of crap. (It doesn't even deserve a justification)
  16. I can't believe what has happened in the AL Central over the last week. The Tigers have pretty much looked like shoe-ins for the division over the last few months but they have choked big time - losing 6 of their last 10 and including their last 3 straight. All they had to do was win a game over the last few days and they have just looked pathetic and lifeless, like they're not even playing for a postseason birth. Cabrera went 0-4 tonight leaving 6 men on base. Tomorrow the Twins take Pavano to the mound against the Royals and the Tigers do have Verlander going against the White Sox - both SP's on short rest. If they are still tied after tomorrow, they will have a one game playoff in Minnesota on Tuesday (not Monday due to MNF). I really hope the Twins take this, I don't think Detroit really deserve it anymore after the last two weeks.

  18. I'll buy it for eleventy trillion dollars.
  19. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP)—Police in Puerto Rico say a Florida Marlins minor leaguer has been shot several times in a drive-by attack. Police spokeswoman Maria Rivera says 21-year-old shortstop Osvaldo Martinez was wounded while driving Wednesday through the city of Carolina, just east of the Caribbean island’s capital, San Juan. Police officer Wanda Abdalah later said that the victim was recuperating from surgery and is stable. Marlins spokesman Matt Roebuck said in a statement that the team is aware of the shooting and they are trying to get more information. Martinez was signed by the Marlins in 2006 and plays for Class A Jupiter. He played in 130 games this season, batting .254 with 45 RBIs. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-marlins-prospectshot&prov=ap&type=lgns No idea who this guy is, I'd never even heard of him! :| Hope he recovers...
  20. What the hell is wrong with you...
  21. I'm not getting my hopes up but we still could be really in this. Colorado's next series is against the Cards - who have both Wainwright AND Carpenter going in that series. BELIEVE!
