  1. Uh, no. It's only dead this time of year 'cause there's nothing to discuss in the Minor League level. Come April this board is buzzing just as much as the MLB one. No need to change it IMO.
  2. cgator, I just want to make sure that this week is the final week, right? Postseason won't count for the Pick 'Em game?
  3. Friday, December 25 San Diego Sunday, December 27 Miami Green Bay Cleveland New Orleans Baltimore New England Cincinnati N.Y. Giants Atlanta San Francisco Arizona Indianapolis Philadelphia Dallas Monday, December 28 Minnesota 10-6
  4. I've been catching it on Hulu when I'm bored....it's fine, I don't think it's the greatest or anything. But I did get a huge kick out of Taco trying to "scare" the little girl by dressing up as the toy she loved- him giving the throat slash gesture and pounding his fist into his hand as she was excited to see him, as well as his angry grunting was hilarious. That was my favorite part of the series. I cracked up when he was outside the window with the knife.
  5. Friday, December 18 Indianapolis Saturday, December 19 New Orleans Sunday, December 20 Kansas City Houston Tennessee Arizona N.Y. Jets New England Baltimore Philadelphia San Diego Denver Pittsburgh Seattle Minnesota Monday, December 21 N.Y. Giants 10-6
  6. I just saw a dinosaur walk past my window.
  7. Stickland might be our next Gardner / Nelson / Sanches.
  8. We also re-signed Clay Hensley to a minor league deal.
  9. I have to agree with some of the earlier posts, I think Philly gave up A TON to get Halladay. Yes, Halladay is better than Lee, but I don't think it's by THAT much. They sacrificed a big part of their future and gave up a #1 ace for someone who is just as comparable. Remember we all wanted to commit suicide when Santana signed with the Mets, and it's not like that one has really killed us. I'm not as bummed about this if Philly had both Lee AND Halladay.
  10. Looks like my lead is gone for the first time this year. DTrainFan is ahead by 1 with my calculations, with 3 of us tied just behind. Will be an exciting last few weeks. If I end up losing by 1 I'll be kicking myself that I shouldn't have admitted I got an extra point.
  11. I have a feeling we'll be outbid... And, I don't know, I'm not that high on Capps. He blew way too many games last year.
  12. Good deal there for a potential quality starting catcher who will be platooning.
  13. Thursday, December 10 Pittsburgh Sunday, December 13 Minnesota Tampa Bay Kansas City Jacksonville Indianapolis Baltimore Green Bay New Orleans Houston New England Tennessee Washington Dallas N.Y. Giants Monday, December 14 Arizona 9-7
  14. I have absolutely no doubt that we will pick up another Gardner / Nelson / Sanches / Calero on the cheap as another reclamation project who will turn out to be a great pick-up ... just not sure who yet at this point. I am also very excited about the prospect of RVH in the pen ... if they only keep him to be a 1-inning relief pitcher and keep Badenhop in his long relief role, I think he will be VERY effective.
  15. Bring back Kevin Millar? :confused
  16. According to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, the Phillies have signed free agent Ross Gload to a two-year contract. Source: MLBlogs.com & Rotoworld :( Not the biggest loss in the world in terms of personnel, although I do think we will miss his pinch hitting tandem off the bench with Wes ... but for him to go to the Phillies just sucks, he will do much better for them than Stairs.
  17. JJ & Cantu for Perez, Smoak & Holland?
  18. The Rangers are exhibiting strong interest in Marlins third-baseman Jorge Cantu, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com. The Rangers are in the market for a first-baseman and designated hitter. Cantu would fit that bill and has the ability to fill in at third base as needed. Morosi suggests pitcher Brandon McCarthy as a trade target for Florida, but the Marlins would almost certainly want more. In November, we heard Cantu is "almost 100 percent" certain to remain with the Marlins through the winter. Source: FOXSports.com & Rotoworld Would Uggla stay if Cantu was traded? Also you'd want more for Cantu than McCarthy...
  19. Do the Nationals think they'll actually be contending next year? Honestly, what a stupid signing.
  20. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Rangers and Rays have shown interest in Marlins reliever Matt Lindstrom. ESPN.com's Buster Olney reported just a few moments ago that a trade involving the reliever was "imminent," so there's a good chance either the Rays or Rangers landed him. Lindstrom had a 5.89 ERA and 1.65 WHIP this past season but boasts a high octane fastball and slider combination. Source: Rotoworld For those who know the Rays and Rangers systems, what prospects would be a fair trade in this scenario?
  21. I suck at proposing trade ideas, but do you think Lindstrom for Callaspo is a fair trade? EDIT: Nevermind. I keep forgetting about payroll limitations. Callaspo will be too expensive.
  22. Thursday, December 3 N.Y. Jets Sunday, December 6 New England Indianapolis Philadelphia Denver Houston Pittsburgh Carolina New Orleans Cincinnati Chicago San Diego N.Y. Giants San Francisco Minnesota Monday, December 7 Green Bay 11-5
  23. Marlins president of baseball operations Admin Beinfest addressed the local media on Thursday, advancing the upcoming Winter Meetings in Indianapolis. Among the highlights were: * Expect Marlins to be active in Indy. * Eight internal candidates for five rotation spots: Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco, Sean West, Chris Volstad, Anibal Sanchez, Andrew Miller, Rick VandenHurk, Hayden Penn. * Leo Nunez is the frontrunner to be the closer. Matt Lindstrom would have to win spot back. * Team is prepared to lead off Chris Coghlan once again in 2010, although his speed isn't prototypical for the position. * Alfredo Amezaga remains slowed by his microfracture surgery to his left kneecap. The hope is Amezaga will be ready for Spring Training, but that is unclear right now. * Cameron Maybin (shoulder), Cody Ross (wrist) and Jorge Cantu (ankle) are all progressing nicely from their end of season injuries. * Without offering specifics, Beinfest didn't dismiss the prospect of still trying to work out a multiyear contract with Josh Johnson. -- Joe Frisaro http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/12/state_of_marlins_update.html If rumors are true about only keeping Nunez or Lindstrom then maybe that signals the end for Matt in a Fish uniform? Also interesting to see that he expects Amezega to be with the team next year, all indications and projections so far were that he wouldn't be back. No other real surprises.
  24. Can't we have a gentleman's agreement with both players where we offer it but they don't accept? Seems like a boneheaded move to me, not that it's a surprise though.
