December 9, 200916 yr According to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, the Phillies have signed free agent Ross Gload to a two-year contract. Source: MLBlogs.com & Rotoworld :( Not the biggest loss in the world in terms of personnel, although I do think we will miss his pinch hitting tandem off the bench with Wes ... but for him to go to the Phillies just sucks, he will do much better for them than Stairs.
December 9, 200916 yr Good, I'm glad. Didn't want another Wes Helms signing where we signed another pinch-hitter for 2 years. At least Helms gives this team more, though, since he can play 3B.
December 9, 200916 yr i liked having a righty and lefty off the bench w helms and gload, two very professional hitters, and gload could play OF if needed.. another former marlin to stay in the divison.
December 9, 200916 yr Maybe he'll suck with them like Helms did and we can get him back for a buck. I did like having that good lefty PH though.
December 9, 200916 yr That one burns, but it at least prevents the team from starting him and his .260 average and little upside in favor of getting a guy like Gaby some at-bats. He had some timely pinch hits, but its time for the organization to stop making guys like him more than they are.
December 9, 200916 yr I'll miss him and I had no problem giving him an extra 400K a year (no idea how much the Phils gave him) but it's not that big of a deal.
December 9, 200916 yr Wow, I didn't see this one coming. I'm anxious to see what the dollar amount was.

December 9, 200916 yr f***ing traitor nah he's not a traitor. its just a business. Im sure the phillies offered more money than the marlins did, and he took it. Which sucks for 2 reasons: 1. because we lost a good lefty hitter off the bench 2. now he's with a division rival.
December 9, 200916 yr Maybe he'll suck with them like Helms did and we can get him back for a buck. I did like having that good lefty PH though. I was thinking the same thing
December 9, 200916 yr http://www.youtube.c...rom=PL&index=55 Wow that was awkward. Almost like when Hanley was speaking in an interview about preferring hitting leadoff (prior to this season) because if doesn't come up with a big hit in the 3rd spot his "teammates cream on him". Weird phraseology is too funny.
December 9, 200916 yr We didn't get Gload till April 1st last year so I'm thinking it will be easy enough to get a similar replacement for him before the 2010 season.
