Craig Brazell laughs at the PCL
The Royals have one of the best minor league systems in the league. Well, they've been awful for a long time, you would hope so. But then, so have the Pirates...

NCAA moves back 3 point line
What team would that be? Team name + year + their success. k thx. Also, this smells like most of your 'stances' and has more to do with your own feeling (whether it has anythingto back it beyond your own words) and thought than actual reality and truth. oh, like our disagreement the other night where i provided 4 sources of information Including some blatant propaganda by pro-marijuana groups. And was this the same time when you ignored every other piece of information that refuted your point? But that is neither here nor there. This rule won't change too much. The "streetball", whatever that means, aspect of the game is what makes college different and more exciting. Most of these guys aren't going to play in the NBA, so we shouldn't expect them to be as good as NBA players, and we shouldn't move the line back just so the 2% of players who do move on to professional ball will be accustomed to it. The NCAA is not a breeding ground for the NBA, and it shouldn't be treated as such.

Knocked Up
The more I hear about it, the more excited I get. This movie is going to be great. (It helps that like half of the cast of Freaks and Geeks is in it).

Someone recommend me a Sonic Youth album other than Rather Ripped to start out with. Daydream Nation, Sonic Nurse, and their most underappreciated album, Murray Street. I really can't reccomend their Jim O'Rourke era stuff enough. I think he added a lot to the group. And really, I can't reccomend Jim O'Rourke enough, as long as he's not by himself. By himself, I'm not a fan (he does have that one good album that I can't recall right now), but when he works with other people he really brings out their best. For example, check out the Loose Fur albums he did with Jeff Tweedy. Those are great.

I've not been able to get into anything by Palahniuk but his book of essays that was released a few years back. I want to give Fight Club a chance, though.

5. Frank McCourt - Angela's Ashes Have you read Teacher Man? I think it was even better than Ashes. Here's another top 5 books list, probably different from the one I posted in Chat: 1. Life of Pi 2. Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff Christ's Childhood Pal 3. High Fidelity 4. Me Talk Pretty One Day 5. Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs I can't really pick my favorite books. There are so many out there, I often neglect the classics (Great Gatsby and Catcher in the Rye, which I love) for more contemporary stuff...

I'm a fan of Superfudge, for sure. But Dostoevsky? Yawn. I appreciate that it is good literature, but I can't get through his stuff...

Mitre pitching tonight
Serg has pretty solid peripherals, and I'm suprised at his fairly low BABIP (.270) considering his awful defense. That is probably going to rise unless the defense can step it up, which I think they can. Gotta love less than 2 BB/9.

The Book Thread
Next up is I,Lucifer thanks to a recommendation in the chat thread by I think the Bobs? Like others in this thread, I read way too much. :cheers Enjoy it! I'm thinking about reading it again pretty soon, once I get through Fargo Rock City by Chuck Klosterman. To anyone who is fanatical about pop music (or, in the case of Fargo Rock City, 80's glam metal), or really just fanatical about pop culture, Klosterman is a great read. Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs is probably the best book to start with, but Killing Yourself To Live is one of my favorite books by him.

Jeter is an average defensive shortstop, but Arod is a much better defensive ss. Jeter has no range to his left.

Of Mice and Men is great. A well deserved classic. I read a ton. Probably too much, as I tend to finish books in a few days and then have to find something new to read. Really looking forward to the new Harry Potter book, as lame as that may be.

Cards RP killed in car accident
has anyone on this board ever heard of a pothead who crashed into anything more serious than a stop sign or curb checked their car LOL People who drive after using marijuana are nearly twice as likely to be involved in a fatal car crash. French researchers studied all drivers involved in fatal car crashes over a two-year period and found 7% tested positive for marijuana, including nearly 3% who tested positive for a combination of marijuana and alcohol. http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/news/20...fatal-car-crash This is from your own link that you posted that you begged us to look at: There is almost universal agreement that a prominent danger of marijuana is its effect on motor performance. Preclinical, clinical and even actual driving tests under the influence of marijuana support an impairment of motor performance. Reaction time, judgment, and the use of peripheral vision are negatively influenced in the two to three hour period following acute intoxication. Some negative effects may be clinically relevant for 24 hours after the acute intoxication (Harris and Martin, 1991, p. 136). This is from the NEXT FREAKIN' SENTENCE after the one you wanted us to see: While the figures for marijuana are quite small, nonetheless, the most frequently used illicit drug in these fatal crashes was marijuana. http://www.miqel.com/reading_library/archi...ve-on-weed.html epirev.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/reprint/21/2/222.pdf http://www.norml.org/pdf_files/NORML_Drivi...d_Marijuana.pdf http://www.cedro-uva.org/lib/harrison.cannabis.02.html hey...on that last link...do me a favor...read under where it says driving...then tell me what the significance of the number 1.1% is i did look at the truth Really? You looked at your cherry picked statistics and ignored all others. And picking NORML as a sight to show statistics is like using Bill O'Reilly to back your opinion. You can do it, but you look like an ass.

Jimmy, just shut up. Please, you are making yourself look bad. Stop talking, man. an opinion backed by facts makes me look bad...well then, id rather look bad in your eyes than good...and obediant You have ignored every single fact everyone else has put up. Thats why you should shut up. Not because you have an opinion. Having an opinion is fine. But not when you refuse to acknowledge the absolute truth in front of your eyes.

hey...on that last link...do me a favor...read under where it says driving...then tell me what the significance of the number 1.1% is It says they only tested 18% of the fatalities. So I wouldn't say that is conclusive at all. But good job.

Most Overrated Players
Kevin Youkilis belongs on any underrated list. For those of you who bet, putting a little bit of coin on Youk to win the batting title this year may prove to be very rewarding. He doesn't make enough contact to sustain that average over a long period. I'd be surprised if he even finished above .300. Ban bet? I'd definetly take a ban bet on the batting title, but not on .300. Plus, you already got me on a ban bet.
