Where's Lenny Harris?
Jburque... you there? Thought Lenny Harris went to 'Topes same day as Chad Fox. Checked last seven games, Harris in not in line-up. "Topes transactions show Fox but not Harris. Did he take the wrong bus? Or was he sent somewhere else?

Chad Fox to be up by Friday?
I cant wait to see him pitch. Tommy Will go down because of the Elbow to bad for him but Chad Seems pretty good and is a big Help to our bulllpen. Can't imagine September being more exciting than August! This is fun. Bring up Chad... send down injured Phelps... bring up Lenny Harris... send down... ?

I don't get it
Everyone loves DW.They needed to clap because he is young and when young Players dont get any Support they get down on themselves.... I agree. Youngsters need support so they remember tomorrow is another day. But, next time we have a rain delay, even before the game starts(!), I think I would pull D-Train.

Additional Hitter
With Lee's Injury still hurtin him, would the fish go after conine? Conine fits my profile perfectly. And I do not believe Mr. Marlin is in love with Baltimore, as reported. Guess it's a matter of contractual dollar and cents. With his current batting average of 285 he's highly marketable. But, he could come in now, help us, and if we don't resign Lee, take 1st next near, and then have a long, secure relationship as a utility back-up/pinch-hitter for years with the Marlins.

Additional Hitter
For more than a month I've been calling for a good stick Bench OF that can play all three OF positions plus first base to give our great starters a break. I'm sure FO was looking. Didn't happen. But, not because they didn't try. But, now, I am not as concerned. Banks, Fox, Mordecai and maybe even Hollandsworthless, will rally if they get AB's. What has made the difference is our pitching. And with Tejera back on track... we can make it. (actually we only need a good Bench OF for left and right... Encarnacion can cover center.) p.s. I'd like to see Lenny Harris in our clubhouse.

Make a strong case to be called up
Stratton. I read the 'Topes forum. Thing I liked best about Stratton is that he is a "beast." Cool. But, I don't think he's ready yet. Still learning the strike zone (otherwise hitting 500' HR's.) Like to think that Lenny Harris will help him.

Make a strong case to be called up
Like? Would take me hours to re-research (though I watch the minors pretty closely). But relatively easy to review in terms of what we need. We need a back-up first baseman and outfielder (could be same person or two). No doubt. And we have exciting players in our system. Don't have to buy other's discards. We need one or two bench players now to break our great starters, not in September. Let's draw on our own. Only a few weeks left for the minors, they would not be losing any "experience."

Make a strong case to be called up
Interesting... A conflict for Beinfest. Make him a September call-up? But then he can't be used in the playoffs. Or call him up now, and take the risk of him being bad and having to send him back? I think there's a couple of players that should be called up now. September is too late. And we don't want line-up disruptions in September. Need to get gutsy now. We can make room for two roster players.

Michael Tejera for The Stretch
Yeah he looked sharp last night and before.... also....Almanza...maybe a help? is he getting his act together now? :o Couldn't believe the confidence-building statements McKeon said about Almanza (the heart-attack in waiting) a few weeks ago. Maybe Jack was right. Now, I think Almanza will give up only one run before getting the third out.

Michael Tejera for The Stretch
Tejera was strong when he joined the Marlins. Then, he struggled and looked like a flash in the pan. Last couple of outings, he looks strong again. If he keeps it up now, he will be a great asset in the pennant run. And the kid is cool. And I think he's going to keep it up (while Spooney is still indeterminable!)

CNNSI Burning Questions.....
Ozzie is definately a managerial candidate when McKeon decides to step down. But, Doug Davis may be the choice of the "Master Plan." A young minor-league operator, credentialled with Loria and company, he was brought up as Bench Coach when McKeon was hired. Doubt he was McKeon's choice. Davis was the FO choice and, I'm learning, they don't do things casually.

DLee injury has people in the FO concern?
Perez? Very interesting. Just a few days ago I was arguing with a distinguished forum member herein that we needed a big-stick veteran to back up Lee (one who could also play some outfield.) When he said Lee would be back soon and thereafter would not have to sit out again this Season, I suggested he "patent his crystal ball." There may be several players who met the profile I presented. But, now I realize that Conine fits it perfectly. And I do not agree that Mr. Marlin is in love with Baltimore.

E Reed
Good stuff. Thanks. If we go into the Play-offs with MO-mentum, I'm sure we are really going to work our prospects this winter. Let's get ugly! No mercy next year.

Spooney Rehab' Update?
Any up-date on Spooney's rehab' progress? I hadn't been confident in his timely return, but I'd love to be surprised! p.s. Understand Olsen is throwing a little but still having problems with dizziness and vision. So sad.

Bench, Round the Horn
Fish Fan, thanks for your reply. But, there are so many geniuses on this forum (okay, simply a lot of people smarter than me)... I just don't know how this Ramon Castro fiasco is going on without question. Again, I think something stinks. It ain't baseball as I knew it.
-
Castro as 1st Sub for Lee
if fox and mordi are simply band aids at first, then what are they at second and third? question Second, short and third subs are defense. First requires a power stick.
-
Castro as 1st Sub for Lee
how many AB's would Pudge have if you got your way? Maybe 3 or 4 games all season? Fans questioned the Pudge acquisition because Castro was ready to step in. Other than that, there's just not much room left. Now that his streak is over, Lee will rest about as much as Lowell, which is to say rarely if at all. My suggestion to have Castro ready to sub for Lee has nothing to do with Pudge's at bats. (What are you talking about?) But, if Iron Man Lee does need to take a day or two off, what good stick do we have to replace him?
-
Bench, Round the Horn
Isn't Castro a bit....uh....big-boned to play 1st?? I mean, he's no Tommy Tune. Oh yeah, And Mo Vaughn isn't. There must be a problem between Jack and Castro. He could make a good back-up 1st basman. IMO he's the best hitter on the bench...If Jack isn't going to use Castro, He might as well send him to AAA. He's being used as the BULLPEN catcher for heavens sake. Why? Why? Why? How come no one can answer?
-
Castro as 1st Sub for Lee
We have depth at all infield positions, except 1st base. We have band-aids Banks, Fox and Mordy. Big stick Castro is not allowed to play. Something stinks. Nobody can tell me why he is benched. I'll give up some defense to get his bat in there when Lee is out. Can't understand why more fans are not questionning the hibernation of Ramon Castro.
-
Bench, Round the Horn
geemoney... stick your face 90 feet in front of Ramon Castro when he's at bat, and then tell me about "big bones."
-
Bench, Round the Horn
Because Mckeon doesnt know where Castro is? Castro never does anything but pinch hit.... Not very responsive.
