  1. Good Minirveni interview with Lowell at 1:20 p.m. Mike is still the team leader! Says he will see the Doctor later today.
  2. McKeon says Cabrera at third, Banks in left, today.
  3. Apparently, an interview with Mike coming up on the Fox "fluff" pre-game show.
  4. Edcanes, What do you think of Conine? And isn't he available "today"? Read earlier today a post herein saying Conine can't play left field. I don't believe that.
  5. Can we use this as a mini-thread for reporting FACTS on the Lowell situation? e.g. Doctors report today, confirmed FO moves? Lengthy opinions can be posted elsewhere appropriately. I just want to monitor one place (all day!) for actual news. Thanks.
  6. I was listening to the game on radio, so I didn't see the pitch that hit Mike. But, I was amazed when Vladimer got up the next inning that he wasn't dusted off or given a little chin music. Would have created umpire's warning but would have made a statement. (I wouldn't want Pavonno to nail Vlady because it could have caused an ejection that we can't afford.)
  7. WildCard, I'm not arguing what will happen to Lee I'm stating that When Lee is gone Conine will be the replacement. If we don't get Conine tommorrow, we aren't getting him at all. Yes,I know that. What's your point? But you have to agree that If we decide not to stick with the bench that Conine is the best option. He is relatively cheap,a solid player that provides veteranship, and he could ignite the Interest of more fans. He can be a big financial help also. I agree, Mr. Marlin is a quality, versatile veteran and a Marlins fan favorite. But, bottom-line... we're going nowhere if our starters don't bring it up a level, at least to the level of Pierre and Castillo.
  8. 83Gator, I NEVER, never said Gerald Williams should replace any of our starters. I said we could use a fourth outfielder, a versatile veteran. We have only Banks, who is also our first-base back-up. I get questions like "Who would he replace?" HE WOULD REPLACE NO ONE with the roster expansion.
  9. what makes Gerald more of a base stealer than Andy Fox? and who would Gerald be ball chasing instead of? See you came back for a double dip. Regarding G. Williams and A. Fox base stealing, check their career records including this year! Regrading ball-chasing, I suggested him as a fourth outfielder, maybe taking Banks place or splitting with him (we have no other). All within the expanded roster. If you're going for a triple-dip please say something substantial without your cocky critical attitude so often expresed to me and others.
  10. Marlins2003 Harris was brought up because that was the deal when we signed him. And his function is totally different than Gerald Williams will be. Harris is a pinch-hitter and potential (last resort) back-up infielder. Williams is an outfield ball-snagger and potential base-stealer. You're comparing apples and oranges.
  11. Well it's already too late for that. Get out of here you Braves suck-up. You contribute nothing. We have other fans, BoSox and Expos, who bring something to the table. We welcome them. You can't even find the table.
  12. Gerald Williams keeps on getting hits. Everytime i see he is like 3-4 or 2-3! I cant wait untill he comes up and he has very good speed since he is getting on base it will intresting to see what he does... Before yesterday's 3 for 4, he was hitting 300, with 20 doubles, 13 HR's, 521 SLG, 354 OBP. And 15 Stolen Bases. And he has Play-Off and Series experience. I particularly like he is good defense (all outfield positions) and still has his good legs. He can be valuable to us. Play our good rookie prospects if we give up on the Wild Card.
  13. Batting lead-off for the 'Topes yesterday. Gerald Williams went 3 for 4. After a dismal Spring with us, he has done very well and still has the tools in addition to experience. (I cited his good stats a few days ago.) I'm anxious to see him up here not just as a Pinch Hitter/Runner but fourth outfielder capable of all three positions. I'm pleased McKeon has played/started Mordecai and Fox. They didn't do much but they are, as a result, better prepared for their next sub assignments. This playoff-stretch is going to be demanding on our starters, physically and mentally. Call-ups will not be here for a cup of coffee or personal/future experience value. I think McKeon will only use those he believes will actually contribute. McKeon wants to win THIS YEAR. This is going to be exciting!
  14. im speechless... And I think we all should be... until we learn the facts. At the very least, he is guilty of the "appearance of impropriety," something every celebrity needs to be sensitive to. I am interested in early reports that there were teammates with him at the bar when this scene started going down. Did anyone remind (warn) him that the scene was bad. Or did they condone?
  15. I got slammed herein five weeks ago when I suggested bringing up Gerald Williams as a fourth outfielder (capable and experienced at all three positions and with Playoff and World Series experience.) He didn't have a good Spring with us and so the myopic among us assumed he was finished. This season with the "Topes he is hitting 300 (313 AB's), 20 doubles, 13 HR's, 15 Stolen Bases, 521 SLG%, 354 OBP. Tell me he doesn't belong here now!
  16. I don't want to see Almanza back with the team this season. But, I am looking forward to seeing him in Spring Training in Jupiter. You don't know the blood and guts and sacrifices it takes to be a major league player. To suggest he be replaced by a pitching machine is not funny. It's disgusting.
  17. Pre- All Star Game I answered Lee Bashers by noting he always rallies in the second-half. Also said he is worth one or two runs a game defensively! I did get worried when his traditional rally was slow beginning. On a "cute" note, last year one of the Marlins wives (perhaps Millar's) who is a dance instructor said Lee was the first baseball player she ever saw who moves like a ballet dancer. He is smooth, graceful and a joy to watch at first base.
  18. I said a couple of times a month ago that I would not be surprised if Spooney did not come back this season, and if he did wouldn't be ready to contribute. I still believe that. (Also said that Tejera and Bump could alternate pitching ahead of Urbina and Looper.)
  19. Fish Fillet, I did not say Looper was inadequate for lack of experience. I said he's only "average" and that won't cut it. Please read the post before you respond.
  20. well, you have given no reasons as to why Looper is "mediocre" You want stats? Stick the stats. They work like figures work for an accountant... anyway you want. Fact is, right now, you don't want to bring Looper in unless you have a three run lead.
  21. well last time Arnie went on his little rampage, so did Looper and he was unstoppable.... keep it up Arnie.... Not correct. (and certainly not a "rampage.") Once again you shoot from the hip. And once again you get personal, sarcastic and vitriolic. Admin needs to change your diapers.
  22. Looper is mediocre (an "average" closer.) Not strong enough for a pennant performance. Urbina has not performed better. But, he has more experience and the requisite closer attitude that Looper pretends to have. And I think that Loop is weakening, not strengthening. I know the "clique" herein loves Looper. He certainly belongs on the team. But, down this stretch, the closer will be critical. And I have doubts that Looper will rise to the occasion.
  23. Pudge and Lowell have two days off. Great! Now, the rest of the starters. Abbreviated: Fox at short one day, second next day. Banks at first one day, then right next day (with Encarnacion in center), then Banks in left, then Banks in right. Bench players are all different. Lenny Harris claims he plays best when he doesn't play much. Others need a couple of consecutive games to get their timing back. This is exciting. I have confidence in McKeon and anxious to see how he will play this.
  24. From the begining (when this kid was brought up and asked to play a new position). I was amazed at his POISE. This kid is cool and smooth. If he makes an occasional misjudgment in Left Field... that's the price we pay. And I'm willing to pay it! Tip of the hat to FO for not trading for a left fielder (surely a last minute decision and a good one!)
  25. I'd like to see big Ramon behind the plate today That would be fun. But, I'd like to see him there for two consecutive games. And Fox at short for two games, Mordecai at third for two games, Banks at first for two games, then either Fox or Mordi at second for two games. Get the cobwebs out of the bench. Give the Starters a break. They need it. And it shows.
