August 31, 200322 yr Marlins 3B Mike Lowell breaks left hand; out at least four weeks Associated Press MIAMI - Florida Marlins all-star third baseman Mike Lowell suffered a broken left hand on Saturday night and is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. Lowell was hit by a Hector Almonte pitch in the eighth inning of the Marlins' 4-3 win over Montreal and was removed from the game. He was taken for X-rays, which showed a break in the Lowell's fourth metatarsal. He would be examined by a hand specialist on Sunday, team officials said. Lowell leads the Marlins with 32 home runs and 105 RBIs, both career-highs, and is hitting .277 this season.

He's a 10-5 man this off-season so Baltimore won't be able to trade him after this month even if they wanted to. We need to do something. Maybe we can bring up Gerald Williams to play LF. It would cost us any chance at the Wild Card but at least we wouldn't have to listen to Arnie talk about Williams' AAA stats anymore.

August 31, 200322 yr Conine would cost us DLee That is not true. The Orioles were trying to trade Conine to the dodgers, diamondbacks, and Mariners and did not ask for any big name players or prospects.

August 31, 200322 yr shamrock, i think they will be adequate to cover us up like a patch until the playoffs, but the will in no way be able to replace Lowell's impact on the team on the field.

I want to see your input on this matter, DR! Mordy and Fox suck. I wouldnt want them in the infield. They cant hit and they can even get on base but GW is hitting way more than .300 and has been in the ML for like more than 10 seasons.
August 31, 200322 yr Sanders been hot lately i doubt he'd be traded. Yea, the Pirates will ride his bat to the playoffs. I think Brian Banks would be fine if he played in LF the rest of the way, but Sanders can obviously be had, and not at an amazing price, with only a month remaining.
