3rd Base: Lowell, Cabrerra, Lenny Harris, Mordecai, Fox

SS: Gonzales, Fox, Mordecai, Cabrerra

2nd Base: Castillo, Fox, Mordecai

1st Base: Lee (Banks, Mordy and Fox are band-aids)

Don't we need a big stick sub for Lee?

Still totally confused why Ramon Castro isn't being used.

Cabs cant play SS anymore(well he could but i dont think they would put him there)

once DLee is healthy, dont expect him to sit out another game this year

Ramp, re-read what you wrote. I cited Cabrera as a fourth short-stop. And your opinion that when Lee comes back he will never be out again... better patent your crystal ball.

i know you put Cabs as a 4th SS, but whats the point?.... i dont think he would ever play there again

and if DLee is healthy when he comes back, he wont miss another game this season

My point, Ramp, is that we have enough depth at every infield position except first. And you contend that when Lee returns he will never be out again. As I said, patent your crystal ball.

Mike Redmond can play both 3B and 1B.

Mike has only played third once, and that was for two innings last year. He's only played four innings in two games at first.

He played third in Texas this year.

I dont think Mike Can play 3B. Maybe 1st but anyways McKeon would stick him as Catcher...

Mike has only played third once, and that was for two innings last year.? He's only played four innings in two games at first.

God. We don't need Mike Redmond at 3rd. We have Lowell, Cabrera, Lenny Harris, Mordecai and Fox. Where did this thread get so untwined???? And we don't need our beloved Mike at First. We have the Fox and Mordecai and Banks band-aids. Why has no one answered my question: Why not Ramon Castro as a back-up 1st base????????

Because Mckeon doesnt know where Castro is?

Castro never does anything but pinch hit.... :(

I mean, he's no Tommy Tune.

Maybe Mckeon is resting him up for next season?

geemoney... stick your face 90 feet in front of Ramon Castro when he's at bat, and then tell me about "big bones."

so who do you suggest for the backup first baseman?

again you cant have top players at every position even as your backups.

Hollandsworth can also play first.

Isn't Castro a bit....uh....big-boned to play 1st? I mean, he's no Tommy Tune.

Oh yeah,

And Mo Vaughn isn't.

There must be a problem between Jack and Castro. He could make a good back-up 1st basman.

IMO he's the best hitter on the bench...If Jack isn't going to use Castro,

He might as well send him to AAA. He's being used as the BULLPEN catcher for heavens sake.

can't find the article at the moment....but Castro said last week that if Pudge returns (which he won't) that he hopes he is traded.

Who knows why he never gets any ABs...it's a difficult situation. The problem is Lee never sits and I don't know if Castro's ever played any OF. So you bring him in as a pinch-hitter, but then you've got to either take Pudge out of the game, or take an outfielder out of the game & replace with Banks or something. Just throws everything out of whack. It's tough though, all the guy has done is hit when he's in there.

Seriously how are we supposed to know why?

Fish Fan, thanks for your reply. But, there are so many geniuses on this forum (okay, simply a lot of people smarter than me)... I just don't know how this Ramon Castro fiasco is going on without question. Again, I think something stinks. It ain't baseball as I knew it.

You can't just stick anyone you want at 1B. It may not be rocket science, but some people just don't take well to a position. And we have a million back-ups at 1B anyway. Banks is no stiff with the bat (when he starts). Neither is Redmond. Mordecai can play their, too. And if you just want offense from 1B when Lee isn't playing, out TH there. You have a lot of options. Castro is a catcher. Nothing else. Hell, if I were Castro, I'd be begging for a trade. He needs to play, and I'm sure he's fed up catching bullpen pitchers instead of the starter on the field.
