Muslim Congressman: Bush Like Hitler
Jimmy, I find it a joke that people want to "negotiate" with terrorists. Yeah, let's sit down with the people who want to chop our children's heads off. Sounds logical to me. I'm all for our govt protecting us in any way it must. I'm not interested in trying to understand why the terrorists do what they do. These people hate us, will do everything in their power to kill us, and until the moderate Muslim voices are heard and embraced (and Muslim children are not indoctrinated to hate us and the Jews at age 6), this trend will continue. But I hate debating politics. Let's just agree to disagree, and continue our Marlins discussions. :cool

cabrera fan, you do realize that we partnered with iraq to try to basically desrtoy iran right? remember rumsfeld shaking hands with saddam? yeah...it seemed like we were really concerned with bringing freedom to the iraqi people then right? sh*t, we wanted them to wipe each other out... and our troops are doing their job, their orders...and while yes, noble...bringing democracy to iraq is not for us or anyone else to decide other than the iraqi people themselves... thirdly...when we went into iraq without any help(sorry britain, your contributions have been minimal at best) we effectively ended any power the U.N. did have...which is ashame because the U.N. in cooperation with us really has potential to be able to minimize threats to our country with negoiations and international pressure...now we are on our own and doing such a brilliant job! fourthly...in the eyes of the international law community, our war is illegal...and no...that doesnt supercede our own Constitution, but with the Iraqi war, we made the preemptive strike, which is new in American history...and still just as wrong... also...id like to point out...that how come that I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that Iraq had no WMD's...am i more intelligent than the intelligence community? no...but damn...for a country that prefers bullets and blades, there was no way in hell iraq had WMD's unless we put them ourselves...which is possible...and also very retarded on our own part... Yawn. We also supported Osama bin Laden against the Russians. The troops "are doing their job, their orders?" Stop trying to minimize their efforts. They VOLUNTEERED to serve for their country, and you would never know it by the news reports (because the media like to report every explosion that occurs), but the troops are doing a fantastic job. And if bringing a democracy to Iraq would stabilize the region, then yes, it is in the world's best interest. But let's forget about that and talk about the fact that Saddam slaughtered 750,000+ people. So much for the left caring about human rights. They want the U.S. to act in Darfur (and I'm all for sending troops there), but they're against removing Saddam. Hussein has toyed with us and the U.N. for the past 15 years. His psycho sons, who some say were even worse than their father, were in line to succeed him. When is enough enough? The U.N. has the ability to minimize threats? LOL. Haven't you heard? They run away from explosions. Everyone criticizes the U.S. for sanctions against Iraq, yet it was the Oil-for-Food Scandal that killed thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) of Iraqi children. And to be honest with you, I don't give a sh*t what the international community thinks. Do you think I care what France has to say? They weren't attacked on 9/11. We saved their as*es in World War II, have thousands of U.S. soldiers buried there, and they refuse to help us with the war on terror. Ok, so you were against the preemptive action in Iraq. Fine. But are you are against all preemptive strikes? Sure, let's wait for these people who want to chop our heads off to strike first. Then we'll respond. Wow. You knew "beyond a shadow of a doubt?" How is that, and why the hell aren't you working for the CIA? Or, maybe you should read an insider's account of Saddam. Georges Sada was an Iraqi general under Hussein, and described a regime more murderous and evil than anyone can imagine, and said Saddam shipped his WMD to Syria prior to the U.S. invasion. But you most know more than him.

7/19 - Reds @ Marlins - 7:05 PM
Did Cabrera just spank Hermida's butt in the dugout on that replay?

he also wasn't standing in the shade. you've probably never played an inning of baseball at any level in your life The problem is, Hermida's been making these types of plays this season, sun or shade.

according to the U.N., the iraq war is illegal...and being that the president had to LIE to us, LIE to congress, and LIE to the world in order to get his war...id say that there is quite the case for this war to be illegal...and U. Grant had alot of corruption during his presidency yes...but his presidency looks like a shining gold trophy when compared to the quagmire known as the W.(orst) Presidency ever Pardon for this rant, but this subject really gets me heated. First off, I love the "Bush lied" people. What did he lie about? Bush believed the CIA, Egypt and Britain's intelligence that all said Saddam had WMD. So did a slew of Democrats, including Hillary Clinton. (I still think Hussein had them, and shipped them to Syria, but that's a different argument.) I believe the exact words from the CIA director were: "It's a slam dunk." Do you not see the difference between relying on faulty intelligence and knowingly not telling the truth? Secondly, our troops are doing a noble thing in Iraq, whether you agree with the war or not. We are trying to bring democracy to a country that's been terrorized for 30 years under Saddam. I'm sick and tired of the mainstream media (New York Times, etc.) making us out to be the bad guys. A perfect example is the way they covered Abu Ghraib, as if torture represented the U.S. govt/military. I don't recall the Times covering the U.N. Oil-for-Food Scandal. Of course, the U.N. is a wonderfully effective organization. Where are you, U.N. supporters? I think it's obvious that many on the left, more so with the far-left, do not want to see America make progress in Iraq, because that would mean a victory for Bush. Here's a test: Ask your left-wing friends if they want the U.S. to succeed in Iraq. If they pause or waver, I just proved my point. Lastly, the Iraq war is not illegal. Bush had the authority to declare war for any of Saddam's numerous U.N. resolution violations.

2-25, 4 K, 8 LOB
the Cardinals have been one of the most productive offenses in the national league this year Not really. And certainly not against LHP. I think Chewy was being sarcastic.

I wasn't able to watch the game tonight (Thank God), but I noticed a lot of posters bashing Fredi. Bad decision-making tonight? Did he keep Dontrelle in too long?

Winning Thoughts, 7/17
Jeremy looks so slow in the outfield. That is why I always thought of him as having average speed.

Nice Cabrera article on SI.com
i hope they can find some way to keep him. unlike some others in the past that were fan favorites, cabs has superstar potential. He's already a superstar. He has Hall of Fame potential.

Winning Thoughts, 7/17
I think we should move Amezaga to the 2nd hole. Uggla is looking ugly out there. Hanley Alfredo Miggy Jake Uggla Hammer Hermida TREANOR Willis Hanley Hermida Miggy Jake Hammer Uggla Alfredo TREANOR Willis That looks much better to me personally. I'm undecided about whether I would want Amezaga or Hermida in the 2-hole. If Amezaga were batting in front of Cabs, and got on base, a double almost certainly scores him. I think you want someone with pretty decent speed batting ahead of Miguel. Hermida has just as much speed if not more, a better eye as well. Hermida has just as much speed as Amezaga?

Hermida looks silly again He crushed those balls to deep center, just the wrong stadium to do it in. You left out "in the field" in Hanley2's post. He wasn't talking about Hermida's offense.

Crappy Monday Thoughts
Fun game fact: Cabrera's last 4 hits have been home runs. :o same for Hammer Ahh. I hadn't realized that.

Dan Uggla
All of Ugglas swings are homerun swings and its making me sick. Make some damn contact. What I have noticed about Uggla is when a pitch is on the outside of the plate, he reaches out and tries to pull it. His feet are always moving around in the box. He needs to learn to shorten the swing and go the other way, particularly when he's struggling. Maybe Cabrera can teach him how. :mischief He just looks lost at the plate right now, and I blame Fredi for not making a change.

7/16 - St. Louis Cardinals at Florida Marlins
Oh man I hope we tee off on Looper. Not that I have any ill feelings toward the guy, I'm just stunned that he's proven good enough to be a starter. Yeah for real, remember how much he stunk it up down here? Yes, definitely. But to give Looper credit, I remember him coming in with the bases loaded and 1 out in the 2003 World Series, and not giving up a run. But for the most part, yeah, he was pretty bad.

Sergio's FIRST EVER win at home
I don't want to hear any more "lard-ass" comments about an obviously slimmed-down Cabrera :mischief , not after making that slow-roller play last night (and who's been doing it with consistently lately.) I'm not one of the "lard ass" posters you are talking about but I am of the "lazy" variety. Nice play. But I still wouldn't go so far as to say "consistently." I will say he has been playing far better D the past few games. That first slow roller by Zimms he either couldn't or didn't get enough on it, an arced throw to 1B, but the second one by Zimms he threw on a clothes line for sure. Identical plays resulting in different throws and outcomes. That bouncer by Young that got by him for a double was questionable, IMO. From where I sit it didn't look like it took any abnormal bounce, it was just misjudged by Miggy. But of course actually going to the games we don't have the luxury of slo-mo instant replay when the other team gets a hit. Overall I'll give you this, Cabrerafan. He's playing better D right now. For whatever reason. Still not of the GG caliber that we have become accustomed to with Mikey over there, but better than the first few months of the season. Bronco, I watched Saturday's game on TV, but I must have missed the first slow roller. When I say "consistently", I mean most of the time. No player is expected to make great plays 100% of their attempts. Besides the slow roller I missed, it just seems to me that Cabrera has been making that play much more these past few weeks. I remember at the beginning of the year, he would miss them 85% of the time. As far as Young's double, it was a tough play. From what I saw on the replay, Cabrera was there, but the ball took an odd skip away from his glove. I hope he can be GG caliber one day; even if not, Lowell may be better defensively, but Cabrera's offense >>> Lowell's.

Fabulous Sunday Thoughts
Fredi mentioned that Cabrera wasn't even 100% for the game. :|
