  1. This is the kind of trade you have to make at this time of year. It's not like we had anything else to give up anyway. Paddack is a total wild card. Either he'll be good, or he'll flame out once he faces decent hitting. I don't have a problem with it.
  2. I mean it looks bad now, but at the time Nicolino was considered equal with those guys. It's very hard to project out of A ball. The more frustrating one was in '03 when we let the Rangers take their pick between Jason Stokes and Adrian Gonzalez (who were both at the time considered big prospects) in exchange for Urbina and they chose the guy who would actually have success. At the time the Marlins felt they were both equal.
  3. You're getting a bit ahead of yourself here...he's a guy in A ball. He's also started all of 5 games this year. By default Braxton Garrett is our best prospect. It's a big downhill slide from there. I'm really not sure what we have that the Rays would want. I guess pitching prospects but we have very little of that. Our farm is in the bottom three in the majors.
  4. The problem is that it's basically unused revenue the team could be collecting. Not that they're going to put that money into the team, but it's pretty telling that no one wants to touch that.
  5. While I agree that some of those people are not going to win because they signed a contract, it's pretty clear that the Marlins severely overestimated their success at this ballpark even prior to day one. They used that to sucker some people into deals that were not worth what those people thought it would be. By the way, still waiting on those stadium naming rights that they keep saying are coming 'any day now'...
  6. I told you guys months ago that trading him would be a mistake...now you have the proof.
  7. Easiest prediction in the world though...
  8. I will be shocked if it's not Fredi....I didn't think he would survive the year to begin with but this team is underperforming even the low expectations

Expectations are a bit different when you are running a team that has the highest payroll in franchise history. In fairness to Ferrell, he didn't pay a billion dollars for guys like Rick Porcello and Pablo Sandoval.

This team is going nowhere with this pitching, if that wasn't already pretty clear going into the season You can't afford to lose Jose starts with the guys you have pitching in slots 3-5.
  11. So far this season the pitching staff, which was my biggest concern, has lived up to those concerns. I just don't think you can go anywhere with who you have. The bullpen just makes it worse, but if your starter can't even clear 4 innings against the godawful Braves, even the best bullpen in the world won't save you. I'm not that concerned about the hitting as much. There's way more talent out there than in the pitching staff.
  12. I'm more worried about the rotation than the bullpen. If the rotation is a mess, it's not going to matter how good the bullpen is
  13. Yeah pretty much this...I mean if the ownership was that interested in winning this year they would have done more than sign Chen and call it a day.
  14. The Mets have way better pitching depth than we do, and their overall pitching talent as a whole is stronger. Outside of Jose I'm not sold on the rest of the guys.
  15. You blew his cover, now he has to change his name to Jose Notleonunez
  16. I really hope you're right because I'm done with Loria
  17. Keith Law has Kolek at #97....doesn't look like the BA Top 100 has any Marlins either
  18. I feel like we're going to end up getting more Wilson than the other two, since they have other jobs. Which is not good.
  19. ST is the place to get autographs. None of the team Fanfests in MLB are good for this.
  20. Perez also works for ESPN, so this whole thing is odd. I have to assume they didn't have someone who would agree to do full time that was good then?

    Fanfest

It's way worse now than it was last year, too
  22. According to Barry Jackson of the Herald, Michael Hill is trying to add another starter but apparently he's running into Loria's hard budget number already. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/2016/02/three-analysts-assess-um-class-um-waiting-word-from-several-whiteside-heat-personnel-notes-dolphins-.html
  23. Well this has to be why he signed for less than most people anticipated.
  24. Yeah I'm not surprised. Only the Marlins were high on Naylor. Jury is still out on Kolek because he's so young, but he did not look very good in Low A this year. I'm sure when the org rankings come out this month the Marlins will be between 28th and 30th. This is what happens when you put so little effort into the draft and trade away Comp Pick slots, as well as mentioned doing nothing internationally. They've made it clear through Loria's tenure that they are not willing to pay competitively to get actual international talent. To add insult to injury, the Astros' #2 prospect now, Frances Martes, came from the Marlins in the Cosart deal.
  25. Fister actually signed for less than I was expecting, to be honest.
