  1. It's funny how alot of the same people that ran Eddie Jones out of town want him back now that his replacement (Antoine) is even worse. Anyway, I wouldn't object to bringing EJ back...as a free agent in '07. He can sign for the vet minimum ala Zo and Payton and be another veteran contributing off the bench. I also like the sound of bringing Mo Pete down here. He's a nice player and can bring consistency off the bench instead of this hot/cold nonsense we've grown accustomed to with the Heat. Oh yeah, and one more thing...keep Posey! He's one of the better defenders on the team and he's proven to be a clutch player. Keep him and sign him to an extension in the offseason. And Antoine - do whatever, ANYTHING, to get rid of this guy. Ugh.

Actually if you count last years playoff mishap and the foul earlier this year then this is his third strike. None of it really looked intentional but I can understand where you are coming from as a Bulls fan. Not sure why this couldnt be discussed in the Heat/Bulls game thread. Oh well, you have a right to be upset. Which game was the foul earlier this year? I don't think I saw that one. Anyway...I thought it was a pretty hard foul. And even if Posey wasn't thinking about injuring Deng, it sure didn't look like he was thinking about going after the ball either. When you foul like that, people can get hurt pretty easily. Ask Deng how he feels today. He's lucky it wasn't worse. So, yeah, I think Posey deserves a lot of blame. I can only imagine how this place would react if Nocioni or someone did this to Wade. We'd probably be calling for the death penalty. He elbowed Tyrus Thomas and broke his nose in the first game of the season. That wasn't intentional. Please. Do you play basketball at all? There's going to be contact. It was only a few days ago that a friend of mine caught an elbow in the face. Intentional? No. Part of the game. It's one thing if it's a hard foul/intentional foul and another if you're fighting for the ball. And by the way, I have yet to see the play from last night so I couldn't tell you if it looked intentional to me or not, but if we're going to call Posey a dirty player or a "goon" as they did in the Chicago paper should we not take a look down the hall at the United Center at Nocioni? You know, the same guy that got tangled with Wade not too long ago and threw him to the ground AFTER a play was whistled dead. :mischief2 I play basketball in high school, does that meet your qualifications? I don't remember the play, so it could have been unintentional on Thomas. All I remember is Posey breaking his nose. I would bet it was intentional considering his past. He basically tackled Deng last night. No way you could argue that wasn't intentional. Are you going to tell me this was just basketball also? Well, there you have it. By playing basketball in school you should know that there's going to be contact. And on the play Posey elbowed Thomas I believe he had just come down with a rebound and swung his arms with his hands on the ball. No harm there. The foul during the playoffs on Hinrich is a different story, but other than that can you name another incident? Maybe last night fits into that category. That's all well and good. Haven't seen it, like I said. You talk about the guy as if he were some kind of head hunter because he has a "past." 2 incidents that no one outside of Miami or Chicago is going to remember next week. I'm not condoning what he did/has done but let's not blow this up into something bigger than it is.

Hell, if Zito's getting that much money D-Train should be near $80-90 million. Maybe more.
  4. The amount of money that average players get in sports nowaday is disgusting, not to mention it makes me want to cry.

I suppose it's just a matter of time until Sly makes Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot Again! Hell, Sly...if you're going to get sequel-happy lets see a Demolition Man 2. I've been wondering all this time how to use the 3 sea shells.

  7. Also what teams out there would be interested in Gary Payton and Antoine Walker? None. Honestly, unless the Heat pay the majority of what's left on his deal...NO ONE. Who would want Antoine for more years? That was a horrible deal by the Heat. And they usually get it right. As for Payton, there might be a handful of teams that might be interested in having him come off the bench but he's not going anywhere. No trade clause.

    I missed it. What happened?

It is amazing how much the Flyers suck Just as amazing: No, not how much the Panthers suck, but that there's still an NHL franchise in South Florida.
  10. I could care less about the award, it's pretty disgusting that the fans and players voted for a steroid user to go to the Pro Bowl. It is extremely hypocritical that Barry Bonds, who has never failed a test in his life, gets as much grief as he does while Merriman gets a walk. And believe me, I want to hang Barry as much as the next guy. If this happened in baseball, Congress would be subpoenaing people left and right. It just goes to show you the free pass the NFL gets in today's sports climate. I agree completely, but let's remember that up until recently performance-enhancing drugs WERE NOT against the rules in baseball.
  11. Stadium Arcadium - RHCP When Your Heart Stops Beating - +44 A Beautiful Lie - 30 Seconds to Mars (came out in 2005, re-released last month. Still counts.)
  12. Where exactly would the Lakers have traded Shaq? Their hands were just a bit tied. The deal centered on Odom, who has worked out for the Lakers. The relationship between the Lakers and Kobe/Shaq was over. The Lakers decided that Kobe would be the face of their franchise, so they had to trade Shaq. The Lakers hands were tied and they got a pretty nice package for Shaq. There have been far worse trades in league history and just shows how little you know about the league. It worked out nice? No playoffs in 04 and eliminated in the first round as the 7th seed last season (in a tougher conference, I'll give you that.) This year they're doing good, but are they going to be much better or make it much farther? I doubt it. Not in that conference. And I agree, Odom is a nice player, but to say that he or anyone else LA acquired for Shaq makes the deal worth while? Blehhh. I was giving my opinion, no need to get snappy and question how little or how much I know about the NBA. Are you some kind of Laker apologist? Maybe a bitter Mavericks fans? Sheesh. Well, since I don't know much...enlighten me. Worse trade than the LA/Miami trade? :whistle Denver has proven nothing. They haven't. I agree with that. BUT they just acquired Iverson and are a few weeks from getting Melo and Camby back, JR Smith also. They're going to be better than the Lakers, whether it be this year or next when the pieces are in place for a full season. Right now they don't belong in the conversation with Phoenix, Dallas, or San An. When I said Denver I didn't mean right now at this point in time.
  13. If JT gets beaten out by Merriman, in the words of my friends to the North, "I'm gonna be supa wicked pissed." Taylor deserves it. He's played at the same level all year while Merriman got caught using something he wasn't supposed to use (whether it was "unintentional" or not. Pff, yeah right) and didn't play 4 games. The NFL and the voters would be sending the wrong message to anyone, kids or fans that have been watching for years, the wrong message if Merriman wins it. "Hey, kids! Feeling down? Not performing the way you wish you could? Take THIS! It's illegal, but it pays off!"
  14. Kobe and Lamar will get a ring before it's all said and done. Maybe more then 1. Not aslong as the Suns, Spurs, and Mavericks have the same core players they have now. You can even throw Denver in there.
  15. The old man deserves to get the axe.
  16. VIEW TRAILER In a world where super hero movies just continue to get better, one will rise above the rest...will it be Ghost Rider? Spider Man 3? In The VOICE's opinion, the battle between the Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer will rise above all. Fantastic 4 was lame. Hopefully the sequel is better than the original. Ghost Rider doesn't look like it's going to be any good. Looks like it'll go down along with Daredevil, Hulk, and Blade Trinity as one of the worst Marvel movies. Spider-Man 3 is going to be huge. It'll be one of the biggest movies next year. Top 3 for sure.
  17. Phil Jackson is an overrated loser who was lucky to win championships cuz he had some of the greatest players of all-time on his teams. Couldn't have said it better myself. Phil Jackson is a joke. First he wins a bunch of championships with Michael Jordan, and then he wins a bunch of championships with Kobe Bryant and Shaq. It doesn't matter who the coach is, if you have a team with those players you're going to win championships. He was in the right place at the right time, nothing more, nothing less. hahaha.... puhhhlease Jackson should be in the HOF for managing those egos, let alone winning with them You can't even make that argument, becuase he WASN'T even able to manage their egos. He did an awful job handling the ego's of Kobe and Shaq and allowed the several year long feud to spiral out of control and beyond the breaking point eventually leading to the trade of the most dominant player in the league and his own resignation. If he controlled their ego's, Shaq would still be with the Lakers, Phil never would have resigned, and they probably would have had a lot more than just 3 championships. I didn't mind trading Shaq. Odom is (arguably) better player then O'Neal 2 years later, and Brown (who we got for Butler) has been pretty decent. I don't think anything could have stopped the Kobe/Shaw food. Anybody with 9 titles is a good coach. Odom will NEVER in his prime have as big of an impact as Shaquille O'Neal will even in his mid-30's. Miami robbed the Lakers. They gave them Odom, who was good but was never going to evolve into a top-tier player. The gave them Butler - who was traded a year later. And threw in Brian Grant's bloated contract along with a draft pick. The Lakers were stupid to give up Shaq for so little. Worst trade in history. Well, not for me or any other Heat fans. Miami raised a banner. The only thing the Lakers are going to be raising from now on are ticket prices.
  18. No one besides Michael Jordan is Michael Jordan. Tell that to the "experts" who have knighted Kobe the closest thing we'll ever see to Michael Jordan. If he's THAT good, the flu shouldn't slow him down too much.

Besides seeing local teams win more championships (mainly the Heat and Dolphins) I'd like to see every team in the 3 major sports (yes, 3. Hockey doesn't matter in South Florida) -20 down, 10 to go in the NBA -26 down, 6 to go in the NFL -18 down, 12 to go in MLB That's without possible expansion, of course. Seeing a Finals game or two and a Super Bowl would be nice too.
  20. Let's not forget that Kobe was sick with the flu. Doesn't change Wade's sexiness, however. Didn't some guy named Michael Jordan have the flu on a day he dropped 50+?

I don't know anything about this show other than it's theme song that FX has been playing non-stop since August makes me want to makeout with a shotgun.
  22. Those "Kobe Sucks" chants filled me up with warm Christmas cheer.
  23. Can't argue with what the man is saying. One year Philly boy is writing a book about how Kobe is "uncoachable" and the next he's back on the sideline...coaching Kobe.
  24. It was a joke....Jags will end up being the best team not to make the playoffs. Any idea when the hats and t-shirts that say "Jacksonville Jaguars: Best Team Not to Make the Playoffs" hit the shelves?
