I think 2005 was a much better year for albums but good call on the The Hush Sound, I really like "We Intertwined". Their style reminds me a tad of Panic! At The Disco but in a good way.

The songs are much better live than they are on the record. It's their worst since Clouds Taste Metallic, but that's only because the albums they've released since then have been among the best released period. Top 10 of 2006: 1. The Crane Wife- The Decemberists Song to Hear: The Crane Wife 1 &2 :thumbup I've always liked them but often for me just a "good but not great" kind of band. Love what I've heard from this album though, I need to pick it up. I thought Picaresque was a great album, and it was probably my top album in 2005 (or was it 04?), but The Crane Wife is even better. With the exception of one or two average songs, everything is absolutely amazing. It is truly a masterpiece.

After that I'd say Amputecture by the Mars Volta, Wolfmother by Wolfmother, Springstein's Seeger Sessions, and Endless Wire by the Who. Wolfmother's album is awesome. Saw them in concert when they opened for The Strokes and they were great as well. I'd recommend the album to fans of Led Zeppelin.

I think the Breaking Benjamin one was really solid, but it kind of tailed off towards the end which put IV over the top.
