I went 97 because I was actually there for game 7 sitting by the right field foul pole. I will never forget that night!!! Now the 03 playoffs were more exciting, but the drama in 97 was just crazy.

Actually....here is a 2nd draft of what the lineup should be: 3B Amezaga RF Hermida SS Ramirez 1B Jacobs LF Hammer(when he's back 2B Uggla CF Jones C Rabelo/Treanor Pitcher spot Heck we can even do the LaRussa deal....Have Jones lead off, the pitcher bats 8th and Amezaga 9th Cantu cant play defense at 3rd for the life of him and Amezaga's speed and defense is something we can definitely use....Remember in 2003...speed kills Not if speed can't get on base. Don't get me wrong. I think Amezega is a nice litttle player, and he brings a great attitude towards the game, but he is not an everyday player. If Cantu can't play better defense, then maybe it will be time to give McPherson a chance. To be fair, Cantu's biggest problem are his throws. He fields everything smoothly but then throws it away. I think given more time he can improve the throws. He is learing on the job. Absolutely correct!! That would be the next option especially since Amezaga has been kind of fiddling with the bat lately....

Cantu's numbers are mediocre because he struggled in the fourth spot in the line up, a place he should never have been in the first place. Cantu is just horrible!!!

Rabb, well if you heard it too and I only said "I believe Robert Andino can play some outfield..." what are you busting my balls about? I'm not busting your balls about anything, I'm letting you know that he can't. If I said "I believe Josh Willingham was drafted as a catcher", I would hope you or someone else would correct me. I much rather be corrected than stay wrong. I wasn't wrong. The operative words above are "can" and "was". One refers to the ability to do something whether called upon to do before or not, the other "was" refers to something that is a statement of fact and has happened, There is nothing for me to be wrong about unless you are stating flatly and undeniably that he is unable under any circumstances to play the outfield. Marlins2003, you're a great poster, but you must be the most defensive person on the forums. I'm not even gonna go into it. Great move by the Fish to bolster their outfield....We need all the help we can to improve our wonderful defense all over the diamond...

I wonder what they're (Marlins, other franchises on one side, Jones and his agent on the other) negotiating over since he's being paid 100% of his contract by the Tigers and Cubs? Playing time? Parking space location? Buffet menu? More money on top of his existing contract? Does he really want to play for Padres because it's an easy commute and spend the summer in the basement? I wonder if either of the Gonzalez' have spoken with him? I would think Luis Gonzalez is probably someone his side, if not himself directly, would seek out for advice and some insight into the team. Gonzalez after all is a veteran who made the move from AZ to play here. We really need Jones now that Willingham will be out much longer...
