  1. http://firstinning.com/daily/fla Meh
  2. Hensley's fastball was sitting at 86 tonight. Is he still hurt or what. Even I could have gotten good wood on his fastball tonight.
  3. http://firstinning.com/daily/fla Canha two bombs, wow. Nice start by Poveda. Koehler, not so much. Marinez is really struggling to throw strikes.
  4. http://firstinning.com/daily/fla Smolinski having an impressive start. 21 BB 17 k. 857 OPS
  5. http://firstinning.com/daily/fla Back to back quality starts for Rasmussen.
  6. I heard somewhere that geography is the reason for low attendance. Most arenas and stadiums are built in population centers. Because Florida is a peninsula and a good portion of it is the Everglades, that's not possible here. That makes sense to me. 60% of the fan base is to the North 30% to the South, and 5% each East and West. That's just a rough estimate. People in the Ft Myers/Naples area are Rays fans right? You saying South Florida isn't heavily populated? Compare the population in a 50-75 mile radius from Joe Robbie to the same thing around all other stadiums/ball parks. I think he means that it's hard to have a population center because its populated in a strip along the east coast, so it's a little harder to have population concentrated around the ballpark.
  7. I kind of look at the Rays as brothers in a way. Very similar teams. Allies in the battle against baseball fascism.
  8. Maybe they'll send down Cishek and bring up Koehler when that rotation spot comes up again? I was thinking this was an option.

  10. I don't understand the Skipworth situation. Was the move to AA depth related, or does it have to do with the FSL being so tough on hitters.
  11. Noone has any idea what you're talking about. 1) Because noone watches Soccer on TV here outside the World Cup. 2) Because all of our "top" soccer announcers are foreign. There are plenty of people who watch foreign soccer on Fox Soccer and Gol TV. The announcers on those channels are great. They have a real way with words. They make a lot American sports announcers seam dim and uncreative.
  12. http://firstinning.com/daily/fla Good to see West pitching again. Kyle Jensen right back in the swing of things. Skipworth ties his season long hit streak at 3. :|
  13. While I do enjoy Mars Volta and the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, I really do miss At the Drive-In (which I got into right as they broke up). Classic.
  14. Did I read that correctly? 5 wild pitches for Ceda? Wow I didn't notice that. Effectively wild? lol I guy throwing upper 90's with the potential to uncork one, must be a very uncomfortable at-bat.
  15. http://firstinning.com/daily/fla Ceda is dominating. Can't wait to see him up. Nice start for Koehler. Wonder if we could see him instead of Buente next week.
  16. Marlins are 5-4 when Javy starts.
  17. I would've been more excited for Koehler, to be honest. Ya, I would have liked to see someone with a little more upside. My only guess is Koehler really struggled his last time out. Only gave up 3 earned but walked 5 and only lasted two innings. Buente has more upside than Koehler. He's 27. I don't see too much more up. I'm not throwing parties for either guy, but Koehler is supposed to be a 4/5 starter if he pans out, but Buente was just converted back to being a starter and has shown some nastiness (stats-wise, anyway) Buente does seam to have a little more dominating stuff, just a little old, we'll see. Hopefully one of the two pan out.

  20. http://firstinning.com/daily/fla Pretty uneventful day. Is it a sample size fluke or has Ceda gotten his control together.
  21. Yap, says he joined in 07.
  22. http://firstinning.com/daily/fla What is up with Rasmussen's control?
  23. To me that would be like going to Thailand and looking for a McDonalds to eat at. Kind of sounds like that movie The Beach/ What you're saying is really true. I mean I've found things to do in those smaller cities I was referring to do as boring, you can have fun anywhere. But I think Miami has to offer it's demographic far more than most cities in the country. What other city have a draw like South Beach on a Saturday night, or just the beach in general on a Sunday afternoon. Few have similar but not many. Baseball has more to compete with than other cities.
  24. there will be i think 2-3 surface lots for tailgating. i'm 100 % on that. Also, I don't know what the environment is going to be like for Marlins games but for Hurricanes games I had a lady that I knew and me and about three other guys parked in her yard consistently every year. There was usually a block partyish atmosphere on gameday. Then again... there are 80+ baseball games and not nearly as many football games.... What's a surface lot?
  25. I took a tour of the ballpark today. Ill make a post with pics later tonight. Nice. Weren't you the one who originally leaked the early concepts of the ballpark?
