Post Game 5/27

Pretty f***ing awful loss. Javy pitched well so I am really encouraged from what weve seen from him.

shot ourselves in the foot all night and blew a huge opportunity in the 8th.

also have lost a lot of faith in hensley. hes just not been the same.

Clay Hensley should not be the setup guy right now.

That's really all I have to say about this game.

Leaving guys on base and losing a close game happens. As long as they win the majority of the close games, they'll be fine; they've won the majority of the close games thus far this year, so whatever.

Even though we lost, I'm really excited about Vasquez. If he can keep this up, our rotation will be complete.

1 run losses aren't "terrible" in my opinion. In fact, when the Marlins lose, they rarely if ever lose big this year...

Already they have been involved in 19 one run games in 49 games played. That's almost forty percent. I wonder if that's unusually high or league average.

They've also won about 75 percent of their one run games, which is amazing considering those games are usually decided by one or two plays. These things tend to even out as the season progresses, however. I certainly don't expect them to always win one run games.

So Gaby had a bad game, I take it? Those aren't allowed.

Well, more like a slump. He's also grounded into 3 Double plays in two games. And he really f*cked up in the 8th inning with his base running. I have no idea what he was thinking.

Watching the replay, if Gaby doesn't hesitate, everyone's calling his idea heroic to win the game. No one on the Dodgers was paying attention.

Obviously its allowed, but as many have speculated Gaby probably has overachieved quite a bit so far, and expecting some kind of slump or fall off coming soon.

yeah, i expect gaby to hit in the .280s maybe .290s, so i dont mind him hitting into two dps. It happens, but that baserunning.....If your going go - you´re forcing a reliever to make a catch and tag at the plate, but he went after the pitcher already had the ball....

Don't know what happened as I was enjoying dinner (Game 7) and the Hangover 2 (which was hilarious) with friends.

Just saw the late recap, don't know what Gaby was thinking there... I guess he was thinking from when LoMo scored on Stanton's pop fly a few days ago.

Would like to see Stanton have better at bats late in these situations thats 2 games in many days where he has hit a shallow pop up with a chance to gain the lead with a good at bat. That being said he is young and it will happen.

You also all sound extremely ridiculous to be worried this much about Gaby Sanchez, he even had a hit tonight for goodness sakes not all is gloom, relax he will have his slumps sure, but I don't think he is over performing as much as you all believe.

Hanley managed 3 walks but still not hitting the ball... eh, what's new.

Hensley's box score sucked, and no outs recorded, are you kidding me? Not the same guy we all know and love from last year.

Even though we lost this game the biggest thing is Javy Vazquez pitching way better, if this is just a sign of things to come, we should all be very excited as Marlins fans for our near future and our chances this year.

All that being said tomorrow is looking to be tough starting Sanches but hell who knows what could happen, I would like to see a few wins by more than 6 runs, have we even done that this year?

I won't be worried about much when JJ gets back though I can promise you that.

Oh.

Then comparing him to Bonifacio and Cousins makes perfect sense. Keep up the good work, guys.

Only watched parts of the game; does anybody know why Vazquez was lifted after 76 pitches? I assume Edwin wanted the matchups with Choate, but considering the need for the bullpen tonight it seemed unnecessary.

I agree with the statement above about Gaby being called a hero if he hadn't hesitated.

I want to fight minervini.

RAGING

What brought this on  ??

Sucks that we lost :confused I didn't see the game and I guess I'm glad I didn't stay up to watch it. Good to hear the Vazzy pitched well again though

Evidently, Edwin was going for offense. Cousins did get a hit, but I didn't like the move. Thought the intentional walk in the 9th to load the bases and then bring Cogs in to the IF was also a bad call. Think this was probably Edwin's worst game this season.

And I disagree with Gaby being called a hero. No way that move works. The pitcher already had the ball and there was someone paying attention to him. The 3B. Not to mention as soon as that ball was thrown to the IF the two guys that chased it down were hollering and pointing towards him. Overall Gaby had one VERY bad night. But I did think we were going to see some extra innings until Big Mike bobbled that ball.

Bad nights happen. Bring on the next game.

With the exception of Blake who was right there or near 3B covering the runner, which is his job on a play like that. And of course Loney and Barajas who were pointing and hollering after Loney threw the ball back to the pitcher covering home. In "live time" I was wondering what they were pointing at until the camera moved and showed Gaby in the run down. That would make "no one" as being the pitcher who had the ball a few feet in front of home and was walking back towards the mound.

It was a base running error plain and simple. These things will happen from time to time.

1. You create a force out at every base.

2. Matt Kemp is a fantastic hitter.

3. Dioner Navarro is a decidedly unfantastic hitter.

4. Anything hit to the outfield is almost certainly scoring that run, so having 3 outfielders is kind of pointless..

I literally have zero idea why you'd have a problem with that move with runners on first and 3rd and no out.

I fell asleep before the game even started ooops, i guess my tiredness overcame me, though ive had a 12 hour sleep so im ready for Barca to win big and the Marlins to win tonight as well.

I'll look at this game positively. The guy who we have been worried about all season has turned in 2 good starts his past 2 times up on the bump. Two guys who have been pretty solid made a couple of gaffs, but will almost certainly bounce back later in the series.

It sucks we got the loss, and the pitching matchups don't really favor us (though Ricky vs Clayton should be a nice one on Sunday) but we can still take the series or at least win one game. Sweeping the Giants takes a little pressure off of this roadtrip, but there's still a long ways to go.

Go Brian Sanches! :thumbup

Well,, I think a lot of those 1 run games should never have been so close. I remember too many times when the game should have been over, but we didn't take advantage of an opportunity to score more. I'm actually suprised how many games we have been winning still, but I think a lot of that has been down to the starting pitchers.
