Matt Lindstrom had a meltdown tonight too. It's his second in less than a week. He's been surprisingly solid this season but it seems like he's coming back down to earth. 1.61 WHIP. I don't know why his WHIP's are continuously so high, but that's not a number I'd want for my "closer." He has great stuff, but he was hittable here, and is still very hittable, for some reason. You know I got to come back and defend this right? Can't argue with the WHIP thing, however, he has only had 2 meltdowns so far this year and both of them were because of nagging injury (he is having a problem with his landing hip this year). When he feels 100% he is rather effective. 22 consecutive saves before he blew the one isn't bad-getting the job done anyways. His second half of the year is usually better so for him to have decent numbers in the first half is good for him. Needless to say he wouldn't hurt anyones bullpen, especially not the Marlins this year...correct me if I'm wrong. HE HAS A 1.61 WHIP!!!!!

Ronny comes through with the big 2 out hit to barely give Ricky the win. Ronnys been clutch several times. This year its Nolasco with the problem with home runs and it's troubling. Can the offense come through tomorrow facing Milwaukees best pitcher? That will be a great test. Ricky pitched a good game.

Just so you guys know we are facing a guy with a 67.5 ERA Well, his ERA was 6.10 before we beat his ass. No it was not.....his 1st game of the year. That's what I figured, since his ERA went down exactly a third in 1/3 of a inning.

The guy thought it's extremely unlinkely we win 90+ games?! EVERYTHING has to go right? I think not. I think Ricky Nolasco revealing his potential and being consistent all year, and Josh Johnson staying where he was at or taking a stride or two. And then the core of the team doing about as well as last year. I think that would be a for sure a 90+ win team. It wasn't out the question for us winning 93 games this year either, as I swear we had the stupidest breakdowns that were extremely avoidable.

Nolasco is a beast. His 2008 was amazing and he finished strong last year. I don't think much will separate him and JJ going forward. I even saw a top 200 fantasy rankings for the 2010 season that had Johnson at like #97 and Nolasco at like #88

Thinking that you build around offense is a just a common misconception. Defense in the MLB is comparable to an offensive line in football. Rarely gets any credit, yet is one of the key components to success. Tell me, what exactly is the difference between a guy that can win ballgames and a guy that won't lose it for you, and how does that apply in any way to this situation? Did you happen to forget one of the early games this past season when Carroll came in for Hermida and made the game-winning defensive play, and then did the same thing just a few games later? According to you, which category would that fall under, if there is any difference? If I said "Did you happen to forget the game tying (or winning, can't remember specifically) home run Uggla hit against Kevin Gregg in August" you probably would dismiss it as irrelevant to the conversation. Your point is similarly irrelevant. Hermida made a game saving catch against the Phillies at one point last year. The example was mainly an attempt to try to figure out which of the "categories" it would have fallen under. It also was more relevant than the one you provided as my example resembled the the difference between the original player and the impact his replacement made (Hermida for Carroll). The likeliness of Hermida ending the play with the same result would have been much smaller. Also, I bet if Hermida threw the ball at the EXACT same time Carroll did, with the EXACT same percision, he wouldn't of made the out at the plate. His arm strength was just too weak. So yes, the chance of Hermida making the same play is VERY small, and the fact he did it twice in a short period of time is something Hermida could never do. I like Carroll, let's see how he does offensively in the beginning as a platoon player for lefties.
