  1. They dont have to. In fact, his recent call up shows that they are rather apathetic to it. I'm surprised he wasn't traded to the Red Sox who showed interest in Gaby.... I hate how the front office bulks at giving any of our 1b or 3b prospects a shot! They did the same thing to Jason Stokes who never got a shot, and to a less extent they did it to McPhearson! Yet they go, and get players who can't help us 1 bit in Nick Johnson! I swear this is the most counterproductive front office in the entire league! The Pirates traded away players but they are loaded with prospects, and the guys they brought up we're all ready to go, and were good! We seem to shy away from giving our own hitting prospects much of a shot, and tend to like to trade for hitters. with maybe Cabrera, and Coghlan being the 2 main exceptions... We tend to mostly promote pitching from within.
  2. I understand Gaby Sanchez, but Brett Carrol? Sucks for him. He was playing well. yeah the move is bad especially since Lindstrome sucks anyway! I rather have BC then Matt.
  3. HA Thankfull now that we didnt trade Uggla, and Ross? HA! I love those guys... Awesome win! :notworthy
  4. I dont know if this is for real, but my brother said he heard on the radio that the Marlins were talking to washed up Glavine. I wouldn't call him washed up! That would be an interesting pick up...
  5. I know he was pissed-off back in '02 when Floyd was traded but other than that I don't remember him complaining about anything. He was eligible for arbitration and his trade was a classic salary dump. Yeah I don't even remember them making a big deal about the Floyd trade I know some players were upset but thats normal when you see your friends on your team get dealt for cheaper parts. But a full season later they won the world series, and I highly doubt that he wanted to be traded from the team he just won a ring with! I mean if we would have kept him in 2004 who knows if he would have helped us repeat! The dismantling started in 2004... Wayne did it in an off season when he broke up the 97 team... Loria did it in the span of 2 seasons he got rid of the players slowly, and painfully will not stop. This club doesn't believe in paying players period, and this is why you will see all these talented players come, and go, and there will always be an incredible turn over of players who when they reach their arbitration year they will be traded away. Uggla, Ross, Cantu, Hermida, Nolasco, Josh Johnson, and even Hanley when the heavy part of his contract kicks in he will also be dealt. Remember the long term deal he signed I believe is back end loaded which means they get him relativly cheap this year, and next year, and then in 2011 he will see a major increase in pay. Now if this is the case expect him to be dealt in 2011.
  6. It's easy to say the Fish should have gotten more Lor lee except for one factor, Lee openly did not want to be here, made it abundantly clear he wasn't signing here and wasn't about to to lift a finger to in any way make moving him more equitable. This happens in baseball and sports generally frequently so it wasn't the end of the world for either side, but let's not make it seem like the FO didn't do a reasonable job under the circumstances because they did. I never once heard Lee say he wanted "out of here" where did you hear this, and better yet can you back up those claims? As for that it doesn't matter you still should get more then we got for him... He is a gold glover who just came off a fine year which he helped lead his team to a world series win! His stock was very high at that point, and we should have got more then a failed cubs prospect.
  7. and you realize Lee would have been a FA at the end of the year and was actually a non-tender candidate. So saying we only got 95 games out of Choi is kinda when you consider the fact we'd only have gotten 162 at best out of Lee. Plus Choi was then traded for other stuff, who was then traded for other stuff, and so forth. ergo we continually were getting value for the choi/lee trade up until last year when Arthur Rhodes walked. Yeah but for a player like D. Lee we should have got more then Hee Sop Choi, and if you keep Lee in 2004, and he has a good year, and you trade him at the deadline if your out of it, and im sure they would have got more then just Choi. And the people we got for Choi later on SUCKED anyway... We got nothing productive for Choi or Lee... And Lee until last couple of years due to injury is a very productive hitter, and is a gold glover at 1st. He is worth more then a failed prospect...
  8. No firesale but this team needs a change. The pitching staff of Johnson, Volstad, Miller, West, and Nolasco should remain intact but we need to change and trade some parts on offense. First, time to trade both Dan Uggla and Jeremy Hermida. I would much rather see this 2nd Half Lineup.... 1) John Raynor (LF) 2) Chris Coghlan (2B) 3) Hanley Ramirez (SS) 4) Jorge Cantu (1B) 5) Cody Ross (RF) 6) Gaby Sanchez (3B) 7) Cameron Maybin (CF) 8) John Baker ? I would love to see this lineup. 1) Raynor has hit everywhere he's been (.300) and this spring. He's a 10x smarter runner than Bonifacio. 2) Coghlan will continue to improve and take over 2nd. 3) Hanley continues to be a beast. 4) Cantu continues to get RBIs 5) Ross will become one of our best 2nd half hitters. 6) Gaby will get his shot and has a good eye at the plate. 7) Maybin gets recalled and doesn't have to bat 8th. He sees better pitches and hits .275 8) Baker will be our best #8 hitter because he's smart! I don't think you understand the whole "Market correction" a few seasons ago means we are rebuilding... We have been rebuilding since 2003 really thats when the pieces of the WS started to fade out for cheaper parts, and after 2005-2007 the front office got rid of what was left, and has been rebuilding since!!! We have been playing bad because we keep rebuilding! Every time we have good players who are developing, and are about to enter their best years we trade them away... Sending those guys packing is rebuilding but it's nothing new it's what this front office always does... Uggla, and Cantu will be gone this year, and mark my words Hanley wont live out his contract here either... For all the lies Loria tells the fans the top lie is that he wants to win. Talking about trading Uggla, and Cantu, and picking up Daniel Cabrera doesn't show me he wants to win lol shows me he doesn't care about winning now or ever again! He got his ring in 2003, and his new park in 2012.... Now he can sit back, and collect his millions, and let them team stink up the place.
  9. I stopped reading at that point, as I do with many "Beinfest makes bad trades!" posts. Did all of you just read somewhere that we used to have Choi and say "WHAT WHAT?!"? Do you all forget that he wasn't only a HUGE prospect at the time, but that he was REALLY good for us? I mean, really really good. Choi did hit pretty well while with us against He hit .270/.388/.495 for the Marlins in 95 games, which came out to a +132 OPS, which is obviously very, very good. But they shipped him off to the Dodgers, where he hit just .161 in 31 games in '04. In '05 the Dodgers used him in a platoon role and he hit .253/.336/.453, a +107 OPS, but he got caught up in political front office battles apparently. And now he's back home in Korea. With the Marlins while he was good as a hitter he was terrible defensively, and that's why he was traded away... Trader Jack, and his coaching staff tried to work with him over, and over, and he wouldn't get any better, and so he was sent packing to the Dodgers, and so I say if he was so good why did we just trade him away to the Dodgers with Brad Penny, and Double-A lefthander Bill Murphy in exchange for Guillermo Mota, Paul LoDuca and Juan Encarnacion. So while he did well with us he is a failed prospect, and he didn't last even 100 games here... So the guy we sent Lee packing for didn't last even 100 games here, and the 3 guys we got in return did nothing for us! Lo Duca was garbage by the time we got him, and Mota was terrible... Juan Encarnacion was what he was just an avarage player nothing special... Brad Penny went on to anchor their staff for a few years, and so one could say that the Dodgers got the best out of that deal also... Can someone please come up with a better insulting nickname for Bonifacio? I can't believe "boner" and "bonerface" are the best that can be made up. Kinda grinds my gears. I have my own pet name for him.... Bonifraudio! Because him being a 3b in the majors is the biggest Fraud going on in baseball right now!
  10. There is no possible way this guy should be leading. Fredi open your dam eyes and check the stats. He has an OBP of .293!!!!!!! that makes me want to vomit! Only batting .253, has 45 STRIKEOUTS and ONLY 12 WALKS!!!!! What kind of leadoff man is this??? Another thing I don't understand. He only has 9 SB and has been caught 4 times. That's a terrible % He might be one of the fastest players in baseball but has no clue how to steal a base. Maybe he can get some lessons from Carl Crawford who's 30 for 30 this year!!!! Talk about impressive?? FREDI PLEASE NO MORE BONIFACIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not that I like but!!!! Just peep my name! lol Yea it's plain as day that the guy does not belong in the majors, and it's a shame that for some odd reason the front office or Fredi hasn't benched him or demoted him. He has no idea what he's doing out there as a player... I mean if they think Maybin has 5 tools, and he's terrible!! Doesn't have 1 of those tools if you ask me, and they think Bonifacio is a gem, and a good player then I think it's time Fredi, and the rest of the front office got fired! This includes the idiot who traded for him Admin Beinfest! I swear can you name me the last good trade he pulled off? One that brought us good players in return where we got the better of the deal? He has NEVER done this! The best he's one is getting Hanley but look at the cost! Josh Beckett one of the best pitchers in baseball, and Mike Lowell who would become the Red Sox WS MVP! And Hanley has yet to win anything here, and really soiled himself in the public eye with his stunt this spring asking to be traded over his hair. Admin Beinfest is just not as good as some people would make him out to be... And he can't keep trading players that are good, and expect to win games! I mean you remove 50 plus Home runs, and how many RBI's by trading Jacobs, and the Hammer away, and you replace their production with a guy who will hit you .240 with 1hr, and 24rbis with 25 SB and 30 caught stealing! (If he gets enough playing time to steal 25 bags! That's the pace he's on.) And an OBP that make some of the posters here vomit for godsakes! Time to demote this guy, and forget he's even in our system! GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO PLAY 3rd, and HIT THE BALL PLEASE! Talk about a dumb post. Admin Beinfest has made plenty of good moves, especially considering the budget he has to work with. Guys like Cody Ross & Cantu were left as nobodies...given a chance by Beinfest. Dan Uggla in the Rule V. Got Nolasco, Pinto, and Mitre for the overpaid Juan Pierre. How about his Dan Meyer / Kiko Calero pickups this year? He seems to do it every year picking relievers off waivers & such. John Baker was also gotten for practically nothing. We stole Matt Lindstrom from the Mets, considering Jason Vargas sucked for them. etc., etc., etc. Lets look at what you said here... First off I was talking about the trades he's made which have ALL been terrible... This man traded away D LEE for Hee Sop Choi for crying out loud. Now he got a good pick up with Cantu, and Uggla ill give you that! But Nolasco was a fluke last year believe me he will be out of this team by next year, and Pinto is terrible, and with all the terrible guys like Jorge Julio that he's picked up it's nice to see he gets lucky once in a while with people like Kiko, and Danny Meyer. But seriously look at his trade history the only one that comes close as being an even deal for us was the Hanley trade, and right now I'd take Josh & Mikey over Hanley ANYDAY! And Matt Lindstrom puts fear into me for all the wrong reasons! Every time he's out there I expect him to blow the game... But he does have potential. You can say that deal we got the best off tho I mean Vargas has vanished quicker then the Titanic sank so I'll give you that one. As trades go he's got Matt Lindstrome for Jason Vargas as his claim to pulling off a trade which worked more in our favor then the other team. Oh, and remember this he didn't find Uggla one of our many good scouts saw him play for the D Backs minor league system, and loved him so much he asked Admin to see him play, and made a case for him, and when the rule 5 draft came by he was left un protected, and so Admin took him. But while he should get some credit for that he had help... As for Cody Ross & Cantu they were both projects we took on because we knew both could hit in the majors it was just a matter of could they stay healthy enough to play in the majors a full season. But Cody, and Cantu have been productive in the majors, and we took them in knowing this, and took a chance on them because yes nobody else wanted them, and it was a great pick up on our part no doubt. But it's not like they were prospects we traded a future hall of famer for...
  11. Funny story... Wes Helms is becoming the club house leader.
  12. There are plenty of threads and people just need to realize he is the leadoff man. He is their guy. Next game he will be hitting first. And aside from rare games off, he will continue to lead off. Just learn to accept it. You can sit there, and type that garbage after tonights game, and the year he's having? Accept nothing!! If we are vocal enough they have to listen!!! If not well it's still fun to complain online lol

  14. Blalock is basically Mike Jacobs at this point Blalock is basically Mike Jacobs at this point I'd tAke that over boni. Much better then what we have now!!! LOL Deff upgrade. When will it end. When I own all the fine tea in china! Or until Bonifraudio is demoted, and released or traded! :mis2
  15. We also signed Gary Glover. Oh yea? Well hand us the world series now, and forget about playing the rest of the way! No need!
  16. I hate you Hanley. Ahhhhhhhhh crap look what your hate did to him! :pray PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET IT NOT BE SERIOUS!
  17. As long as we don't end up with Jonathan Sanchez. Walk machine. I want Matt Cain. If we trade Uggs, I want Cain. I don't care much for Sanchez, although he would be a good addition. He is a walk machine, but when he's on it, he's great. But the guy I really want is Cain. Do whatever it takes to get him. Yeah having Matt Cain join this staff would be sweet! Think of the rotation! Josh Johnson, Matt Cain, Chris Volstad, Sean West, [Anibal Sanchez, Andrew Miller, Ricky Nolasco] who ever the 5th guy is doesn't matter! That starting 4 is very nice on the eyes... For Cain I would pull the trigger on Uggla... But If you trade him you MUST keep Cantu.
  18. ^^ Nice User Name :lol lol I do what I can... Wes isn't an every day player. That's how you see it. But I agree, there's no way to defend Bonifacio being in there with both bench players playing better than him. lol well Bonifacio isn't an everyday player neither but it hasn't stopped them from playing him sadly, and Wes has been a starter in the past, and is fully heallthy! I don't see why not! He is not worse then Bonifacio lol infact he's a major upgrade! It's like if we had traded for a 3b lol
  19. I can't see how Wes isn't playing 3rd tomorrow, and Coghlan leading off again! I don't know how Fredi could not play those guys again! The line up looked real good tonight.
