Bud Selig annoys me with the way he pronounces everything. "With the 28th pick in the 2010 first year player draft, the Los Angeleez Dodgers select..." I know that was so effing annoying by Bud Light.

I think for the rest of the year Stanton will have the biggest impact on a team. This is for two reasons he will either perform to expectations and put the Marlins solidly in the pennant race or he will fail and all that entails with that and the Marlins falling further from contention. Anything the Braves or Nats do at this point is a bonus as neither had high expectations for this season despite what their fans say, they've already competed above and beyond. I have to disagree about the Braves. I believe they UNDERperformed the last couple of years and are just now doing what is expected. The addition of Troy Glaus has really helped them tremendously.

"We all know how he was when he was with the Expos..." How was that exactly? He came in saying he would save the team and make the city happy, but in the end it was all a lie. How is a team suppose to do good in a city, where they have no English radio or tv? He was a awful man,,,,the fact that the Expos moved to D.C. even though minority owners had a case that was shutdown in court is a disgrace to MLB. Did I miss something? 790am carries all the games in ENGLISH and 150 of the games are televised (mostly on Fox Sports) A majority of the people that work at the stadium speak english... so what's the big deal? The Expos had attendance problems too... I believe he is talking about the Expos experience with Loria. There was no English TV or Radio for the Expos the last 4 or 5 years they were in Montréal. Loria was owner during the time the contracts expired. Attendance really fell only after Loria was the owner, and he made it clear they either got a new stadium or he would move the team (sound familiar ?), and he refused to spend any money on payroll (again, does that sound familiar ?). Of course, it would have been better for us had Loria remained with the Expos and moved to Washington, but I am convinced that MLB wanted no part of Loria and his abrasive style of ownership in Washington. I'll never forgive Selig for shoving Loria down our throats. I would have rather been under MLB control until an owner was found for our franchise. I believe had we had a local Latino owner buy the team in say 2003 or 2004 a stadium would have been built by 2009. Of course 2003 World Series may never have come our way, but in the long run I think the chances of winning another World Series with Loria are next to nil, because of his cheapness. Loria has a lot to prove to South Fla before they will believe he is serious about winning a title.

Mike Stanton won't save this team. Our problem is pitching. He's not a pitcher. He's not in the bullpen. The problem is not fixed. It's plain and simple. Our offense is plenty capable and so are our starters. For example, someone please tell me how he would have prevented us from losing Sunday's game in New York. P.S. He is not going to hit a home run everytime. This might sound like I don't like him or I think he is going to be a bust, but that's not true. It's just that our downfall has been the bullpen and he doesn't help that. Oh boy......this should be fun

This. By mid-season '11 we should have most of the pieces for the 2012 season in place, and what we need we go out and get on fre agent market just prior to 2012 starting I hope Loria realizes that just having a new stadium is not gonna bring ppl in, there needs to be a team in place with hardly any flaws (not like this year where we all knew the pen would suck) that knows how to win (unselfish at-bats, moving runners to get a run) and has the killer instinct to put teams away.. But he is counting on that it looks like. Not moving Uggla this past off-season showed us that. If he does a fire-sale before July 31st and we see Uggla, Ross and Cantu gone, even a new stadium will not bring people in (well maybe for a few weeks but it will wear off soon like it did in Washington). Going with all minimum wage guys or all cheap azz free agents won't do the trick. I think he missed his window with Uggla to maximize the return, and that just shows me this front office is not clued in on how to build this team for 2012.

Looking ahead, I think we need to now go 4-2 in Philly/Tampa which will be extremely difficult I can see 1-5 at best. Just look at the matchups. Maybe the Rays will still be struggling as they have of late, but its just our luck that they get their 2nd wind and beat the snot out of us.....for the 4th year in a row no less.

This is getting old. We had a 5-0 lead and still lose. I feel like this team is where we were in 2003, just muddling along until we changed managers and added some top rookies who helped to stabilize the team. I agree, sir, this is getting old, but this feels more like 2005 to me. A team that could never win more then 3-4 games in a row that had good starting pitching and an offense that was just under performing. McKeon was moving JP all over the lineup to get him going, Lowell never got going and while that team had good defense and a better bullpen... my point remains that 2005 was a year when the Marlins NEVER got hot. Their only sweep of the season came in the very last series against a Braves team that had already won the division. Yes, we're not out of it and if we went on a tear of winning 6 games in a row... we'd be right in the thick of things, but what if it just doesn't happen like in 2005? That team was flat, it needed a spark and so does this one. I hope Stanton provides the spark because it needs something bad. Of course you remember what Loria's answer was to 2005 don't you ? Lowest payroll ever. I have this gut feeling that the only thing exciting in 2012 will be the new stadium.

Debuting Stanton the same night as Strassburg is just dumb. I guarantee that ESPN will hardly mention Stanton. Look this team is going nowhere fast. Why not wait til the next homestand and debut him at home to get a buzz going with the home crowd ? I swear they are frustrating the hell out of me and a lot of other Marlins fans. Seriously? You're worried about publicity? This the Marlins...they will get no publicity no matter what. That squares right on the front office. They seem to do everything they can to hobble their own team. But yes, publicity = more buzz about the team = more fans in the seats = Loria might think about spending money next year on a bullpen

I don't approve. Stanton is the shake-up this team needs, not line-up changes that entail Hanley Ramirez hitting behind the pitcher. Just like Hermida was to be the shake-up a few years ago ?; Guys just don't get too, too disappointed if MS isn't a panacea. He looks like he is going to be great, but he cannot by himself cure all the ills of this team. He doesn't pitch and that seems to be our weakest part, especially the bullpen.

i just find the song asthetically displeasing. I agree with that, our national anthem should be Ameria, The Beautiful. But its not the song "The Star-Spangled Banner" you are respecting, its that it IS the national anthem. It can be "Mary had a little lamb", for all I care, but if it has been desginated the national anthem, by an act of Congress no less, it deserves respect.

What would be your feeling if is was Josh Johnson Instead of Armando Galarraga, i would be at Bud Selig door asking some questions, that hurts. It's outrageous no matter what, but don't expect baseball to do anything about it. Bug Selig has repeatedly said "there is a human element to the game" and this is part of it, as awful as it is.

A bar I go to in Boston rings a bell and everyone stands up and takes off their hats while they play the national anthem on TV. I think pretty cool, other than the fact its the Sox on TV and not the Marlins. I have no idea where the whole taking off your hat thing came from. You take your hat off when a funeral cortege passes by.... You take your hat off when the flag is presented (and that is when the national anthem is played). I can't believe people on here are defending the rudeness of what I have seen too. I have seen this happen this year a number of times and found it rude when watching Conine and Minervini/Forte/Allison host before the games. Its just another sign of the moral decay in our society and seems to be more prevelant in South Fla than other places where, shall we say, allegiance to the USA is not as heartfelt as say in St. Louis where its more "real" America. I was with you up to about here. A belief in ritual has zero to do with moral decay. I mean, the three or four people on this forum who have seen me during the singing know that I take my nation's anthem extremely seriously but I think to say that it's a sign of "moral decay" is just silly. Then we will have to agree to disagree on this subject.
