  1. Wes Helms is the worst player in baseball. Silly. Can't hit, can't field, can't run. No upside, just horrible. f*** him. How can you make a statement like that. His "VETERAN PRESENSE" is absolutely worth his million dollar salary. LOL! Beinfest
  2. . Hanley needs to get it up in the air and out of the infield. Somone mentioned his GroundBall/FlyBall ratio in a previous thread... its currently about double his career (and the league) average. In other words, he is hitting twice as many ground balls as the average player. This is probably the main reason for his .254 batting average for balls in play, which is almost .100 points off his career average of .344. . Hanley needs to start hitting with consistency. I do not agree with the Hayes bunt, especially with Cousins amd Buck up next. If the heart of the order were up, then maybe a bunt situation. That being said, overall Edwin has been making the righ moves. I must say, I appreciate his efforts this season over last.
  3. Bonifacio also looked good in the first week of '09. Better be careful whay you say. Our Manager says he wants Bonifacio as an everyday player. On a positive note, nobody mentioned the AB by Giancarlo. He is showing a tremendous amount of plate discipline, which he lacked last season. I am confident once he is healthy and back in the lineup the dynamics will change. (mainly risp) for the better.
  4. Problems existed all over in the game. Like others have said it looked similar to what we have seen over the last couple years. Problems in the bull pen, again; (last night and today) errors abound from two of the same players who have done it year after year; no situational hitting; not working the counts. I know we are really in the beginning, but I'm putting this out there. (Don't kill me please :pray ) I'm not convinced our manager has enough experience. There is a lot of difference in managing a minor league team getting players ready for the big leagues and managing players in the big leagues and winning games. Now I'm not saying our manager lost the game for us; I'm just questioning whether this drivel/play is going to continue until we really have someone leading the helm. And I mean really leading, that is, managing, and knowing how to do it. I totally agree. And, any manager that makes a comment about Bonifacio playing everyday is NOT a real Manager. Sure he got a few slap hits. You gotta love his throwing error. Like I have been crucified for saying this before, this lineup is totally a different dynamic without Danny. The only power source we have is Buck, and he too loves to K too often. Also, I am not too confident with Giancarlo getting injured so much. Maybe they are being overcautious. I did not like the Vazquez signing then, and I certainly don t like it now. Money could have gone toward keeping Uggla this year, even if they did not agree on an extension. I am really sick of Beinfest and company preaching the gospel"pitching and defense". Refer to last game. This team is what it is. A .500 team at best.
  5. Is Baker really going to make the team? That would just be another dumb decision, at this point. Dobbs makes a lot more sense for this team, right now. Left-handed hitter, been good in Spring Training, can play 3B and even has some experience at corner outfield. Bottom line is, Baker can't play a position, right now. Waste of a roster spot, specifically in the National League. Baker will be on the roster when he can catch. If Dobbs does not make the team, the FO is completely clueless. Everybody here forgets : Edwin will be granted his wish, and Bonifacio will be an everyday player. How comforting!
  6. His problem isn't his K to AB ratio. Even in 2009 he was about the middle of the pack on our team. He just has to hit the ball on the ground more often and let his speed work for him. Whether that means making the defense hurry their play and make an error, or by bearing out the throws dosen't really matter. Heck, I watched him try a bunt Sunday and he still dosen't have it. Wouldn't bother me a bit to see him chop it more often. Anything to lessen the amount of fly balls. Those are his downfall. He actually does play a pretty good 2B. I could see Edwin putting him in there if/when Matt goes to NoLa. But my pre ST dark horse was Dobbs. And he is having a very nice ST. Real nice glove at 1B. Haven't seen him play 3B, springbut I assume he can handle it. He may be an option until Matt finds his bat. I think Dobbs earned his way this spring. Not for nothing, Bonifacio today:0-4, 2ks. Typical Boni. But our skip wants him in our everyday lineup. I just don t get it. Yeah great speed (walking from the batters box to the dugout)
  7. He does? F him. If I was Loria, I would fire this idiot on the spot. Circa 2009, when Beinfest did not want more egg on his face, that experiment failed pretty awfully until he was finally pulled mid season. Furthermore, like I was bashed on the Loria "pissed" thread, he expects this team to compete with Bonifacio in the everyday lineup? Good Luck to them. First Reggie then Maybin (Reggie # 2) and now Bonifaco. I get it, lose your 30//90 guy for better defense (peanuts). How many HR's hit this spring? I realize Giancarlo has not played, but I think we have hit maybe 6 so far? Like I said before, the catalyst in our lineup is wearing a tomahawk on his Jersey. We seriously need another Manager who lights a fire under this teams ass, evaluates talent at a major league level, and does NOT make lame excuses for mediocrity. If Jack was 10 years younger this would be a moot point. This guy has to go!
  8. Loria put the hammer down and sparked the Marlins to a victory over the Cardinals. Thats more like it.
  9. Loria shed payroll by adding $10 million total to payroll? He's a worse businessman than we thought! Look how he spent the 10 million. Also see the 10 million or so saved on the Uggla trade.Z(see: 30 plus home runs and 90 plus rbis) Javier Vasquz , John Buck & Randy Choate.I call that real "GOOD BUSINESS".
  10. Owner Jeffrey Loria calls #Marlins play this spring "uninspiring. We need to b playing as a team n we need to hit #Marlins owner Jeffry Loria. I'm not happy. Very few guys focusing on what they're here for I know it's Spng train but time 2 look in mirrr From Capozzi I agree. this is starting to become pathetic. they are showing nothing and the pitcing has been horrible. This is a joke. First of all, been a lurker since 2003 and fan since 93. Lorias comments are a reflection on himself, and only has himself to blame. Lets start with the glue that held this lineup together since 2006. He is now in a division rivals uniform, of all places. 30 plus homeruns, 90 rbi given away for what? Oh, I know: freeing up money for John Buck and his career .243 average, and a "journeyman" in Javier Vasquez? And lets not forget their 1 million giveaway washed up third baseman for "veteran presence"? I happen to agree with Mr. Beinfests theory in you win ballgames with pitching and defense. Does anyone care to look how it has improved? (See the box scores: of the past 18 games). It is only Spring Training, I realize that. However, I do have a problem with the bargain basement person who is supposed to be motivating his team. His comments about not being at all concerned, makes me sick: (See: Bobby Valentine). Look at the "face of the franchise" for example. He is going to be a leader? See: who "leads"the team in errors ". I am really appauled at the way this team conducts its business. As much as I wanted to see this team in a new baseball only stadium, once again Mr. Loria has shown he will shed payroll (locking up Uggla) to turn a higher profit. As sad as it is to say, maybe Norman Braman was not as wrong as we all thought See: todays Miami Heralds headlines. Sad.....very sad for the loyal fans this team has left.
