  1. Very encouraging indeed. It would be great to see Hanley start practicing that throw across the diamond. I'll volunteer to hit all the grounders for him to field.
  2. Quote from his twitter: Today I was very impressed ... As I said before is a desire to be a marlin. We aver. \ .. suppor fo fans than u. !
  3. What a lineup!!!!! Nat's are indeed scary. Signing Buehle (former teammate) just became more of a big deal. Just as Jackson can tip Nat's batters about Buerhle's ways, we will have the same intel on him. Things like if you see him point his toe this way... expect _(insert pitch type)_ to be hurled.
  4. It is really amazing to see what can be done in less 970 days. I can't wait to see how this field plays. As a fan and someone who appreciates what it takes to build something like this... to those construction workers... thank you.
  5. They want it open as much as possiable, but they will also monitor humidity and threat of rain since they can't close the roof once play has begun.. MLB rule I think to keep playing conditions fair for both teams. If winds are low enough, they will open the left field wall with the roof closed as well. Samson said the ideal plan for Opening Day is to have all the warm-ups and pregame with roof closed, then open the roof for the first pitch cermony with everyone able to watch it open. I would be cool with a military flyover or a US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team landing in the ballpark. Normally they will have to decide if roof will be open or closed approx 3 hours before game since that's how long it will take for the a/c to spool up and clear the humidity out.
  6. A Cubs fan is dating my daughter... needless to say... I "encouraged".... yeah, that's a good choice of words.... him to embrace the Miami Marlins and he will in fact be routing for them while dating a Marlins fan's daughter. CONVERSION COMPLETE!!!
  7. Stay thirsty my friends...
  8. He'll go where the $$$ is. And yes, I do believe that him visiting Little Havana will allow him to feel more comfortable with the transition to the states.
  9. They're getting the water from the tears of other team's fans. Mostly Met's fans. .... actually mostly Met's ownership.
  10. End this mother fuggin thread. DITTO
  11. Anyone tried that iPhone Add to Home Screen feature yet? This has to be photo-shopped. No AT&T phone ever gets that many reception bars....
  12. Twitter Dome is the best name Tweet from yo seat
  13. I've thought about an app in the past but the problem is I don't really know what I'd do with it beyond what the mobile skin already does. That and creating an app is costly if you don't know how to program them which I don't. There are free app makers but they won't create anything of any real value. I'm exploring some ideas though to see if there's anything I can put together. I have tried the mobile theme and can say I do like it. However, I believe that an app will greatly help this site as more fans would be inclined to simply d/l an app vs. deal with the web browser on their phones. Since I have gone through the MLB message boards in the past... I didn't even know this site existed until recently. It was weird when we acquired such big talent and the MLB boards were essentially quiet. Since I'm out of state...this is my best way to talk Marlins, which I haven't been able to do in a long time. Feels good. I know more publicity will get more trolls. Oh well. We'll answer them with the teams winning percentage. :exercise
  14. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/fashion-ump-braves-don-cool-cream-colored-alternate-162832445.html;_ylt=AqdVKKfGnWcGtKW0esQw97YRvLYF Not a Braves fan, but I won't hate on their new uni either.
  15. Depending on support.. I hope the powers that be look into creating this app. It would be great to keep up with the forum on game days.
  16. Do you guys think that attendance will be significantly better at the new stadium once the novelty wears off? What's your sense of that? Being a current resident of the DC area and now a Nats fan, but a former Miamian and still a Marlins fan, as well, I'm curious about what the feeling is down there about how much difference the new ballpark will make in attendance. I'm expecting around 20-25k on weekdays depending on day/night game because of working the next morning and 30k+ on Fri and Sat games. Major division rivals will draw 30k+ even on weekdays.
  17. Stoked that I will be able to watch the first two games of the season here in Chucktown, SC. Already told the boss I won't be in for those 3 days... yeah... I left a recovery day.
  18. http://network.yardbarker.com/mlb/article_external/carlos_zambrano_is_adopting_a_guatemalan_child/9289544 The calm, cool-headed side of this all-star. Apparently this has been in works for years. Way to go Big "Z"!!!
  19. I really thought that the Herald would embrace this team since they are now representing Miami. Seems like I couldn't be more wrong. The Sun-Sentinel is even worse. Of the big three papers.. the Palm Beach Post looks to be the "fairest" reporting.
  20. I'm guessing that there won't be a ballpark sponsor by Opening Day. (79 days, 9 hrs, 36 min, 50 sec @ time of this post) I think Universal should buy in to it... after all... they did film Field of Dreams. If you build it...
  21. I have followed him on Twitter for a while and he is a long-time legit fan of Miami sports. He drives down from Tallahassee routinely for South Beach nightlife and to go to games.
  22. Not the biggest fan of this thing... but I wasn't a huge fan about the logo either. Now I PROUDLY wear the big "M" and getting lots of compliments on it here in Charleston, SC. I will hold judgement on the HR thing until it is complete and give it time to soak in a bit. BTW.. Stanton will probably aim for it and it might break with all the use it's going to get.
  23. Shout out to @DCMusicNation for making this awesome video. I really hope that the team uses either this or throw him a bone to make something for the team. Maybe replace the GhostBuster music for the Maroone Call to the Bullpen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K7PA3ovk5A I probably listen to this a few times a week getting amped up for Apr 4 @ 7pm.
  24. Understanding that this is pure speculation, I was curious who you would like to see as the sponsor for the Miami Marlins ballpark. With this team building and the whole nation talking Marlins baseball as of late, wouldn't this be a prime time to get the most out of corporate America for them to put their name over the entrance-ways??? I think the 'Fish could make a killing if they market this right. Who do you want as a sponsor-ballpark name? Verizon Wireless - VZW Field *park-wide WiFi for the twitter accts* The slogan can be "Tweet from these seats!!" Discuss>>>>>>>
