Move the Fish??

Featured Replies

Man what do the Marlins have to do to get a stadium?? If they don't get one it brings up some possibilities, most not good. My question is would you rather see this team(Beckett, Cabrera, Willis etc...) move to someplace else intact or keep selling off the more expense players hoping to get lucky like last year, while constantly rebuilding.

Enough of this losing crap for me. I would rather have the team hit the road than rebuild again. Would you still root for them if they played in DC? I'll cheer them on anywhere, but thats just me.

I'm a Florida Marlins fan, not a DC Marlins fan or whatever....although I'll probably still be a Marlins fan wherever they move to if they move, you gotta admit it's not the same!!!

[yeah I'm sick of all the losing too. I mean when will this team ever win anything? ]

I like your irony...hehe....

It's sad to see how greedy politicians don't give a s*** about this franchise. They seem to forget about the happiness of their constituents and about the importance of sport in our society today. Settling for a compromise which would give the city power over concessions and parking would leave us in the same place we are right now!

We can't keep losing our best players b/c of budget constraints...I want a winning franchise, and if that can't happen in Florida, then I guess it's time to move on.

Out of frustration, maybe I missed my point. I wanted to say I don't want this team broken up, piece by piece. That's happened several times before. This team is too good and all Marlins fans have waited too long for a winner. My memory hasn't been fogged and I do remember winning last year and it felt gooooooood!!!! I would cheer this team on no matter where they went as long as they go as a team.

if they cant get anything this year than forget it ... id rather have them moved somewhere else, because south florida doesnt deserve a team.

They'd be my team no matter where they were, but I can certainly see why those in South Florida would choose not to root for them should they move.

And if I had my choice on where to move, I'd move them to Columbus, Ohio. I hear that's a hell of a town. :thumbup

The place to go would be Northern Virginia. Lots of money from corporate season tickets, (beltway bandits). Lots of money from Gov employees.Decent climate. :mischief2

We have the Fish guaranteed until at least 2006, and knowing MLB's stance of moving teams and a new commish coming in that year, it can be longer.

Let's worry about this team now and here.

Move the Devil Rays to Virginia and move the Marlins to Tampa. I'd be very happy if that could happen. :thumbup

I can dream, anyway. :D

I honestly only want them to stay in Florida for the rest of you fans...I personally will love them wherever they play.

I'd prefer St. Pete...

I am a Marlins fan. Whether that be Miami, Orlando, DC, whatever. I stay a Marlins fan.

However, with that said, I must say that I would without question prefer 9 losing years in a row and then one winning year, followed by nine more losing, and so on, then have the team win a world series every year in another city. I'd like to root for a team, no matter what the success rate is, in my hometown. Is that too much to ask?

I think people need to calm down. The sky is not falling. There is plenty of time to get this done and the Marlins want to get this done as does some of the key politicians like Penelas. The County has a lot of options to offer the Marlins and something will get done. Relax guys.

Agreed. It may not be with the City of Miami, but no real reason for it to be as well. It could be said the team wasted alot of time even thinking the City could provide a workable solution.

They have good support with Miami-Dade, and given more time they will work something out. Have faith.

This team is ours. How many teams have moved in the last 30 years?

Answer: None

And wouldn't the Expos have moved by now?

The Expos have been moving for 10 years now, before them was the Blue Jays, before them the Giants, before them the White Sox.

Hey moving franchises has happened a lot in MLB through the years, even if it hasn't happened in the last 30. It could always happen again too. I don't want the Marlins to move anymore than the next fan, but face the facts they'll continue to lose money in PPS and unless something, someone steps before May 1, they'll be gone. I personally won't mad at them, other than 1993 have they made a profit for any of their owners? I'm only saying if they go, I won't hold it against them.
