Today's Loss

Featured Replies

If any of you think our current bullpen corps is up to the job I suggest you read the last few pages of today's game thread (thanks Admin). Pathetic, disgusting, absolutely a waste of an afternoon effort by the rest of the team. If I were Jack I'd be up one side of these guys...oh nevermind you'll get the idea when you read the thread.

Beinfest better be planning something because Carl Pavano's incredible outing today was completely wasted when our bullpen pitched like a bunch of little leaguers. No insult meant to little leaguers, they could have done a better job than our guys today.

How the heck did we not get Juan Cruz when the Braves gave up so little to get him? Why are other teams dealing for bullpen help and we're sitting on our hands?

Is this what we have to look forward to in 2004?

Grrrrrrrrrrr

I had similar thoughts. Tejera, Neal, Perisho- 3 of the guys expected to be part of the 'pen imploded (and two are lefties). Getting a little more worried now.....

Carl and Justin did fine jobs today its a shame.

also dont forget our O is really starting to come around especially our future Bench players.

What do we have to do... go to a four man Rotation and put one of our starting lefties in the pen?

This is not good.

And the pickin's have gottten very slim.

Relax...I think you are over-reacting a bit. Remember in a regular season game you would have seen Fox and Benetiz. Granted the other four in the bullpen definately need some work. I'm sure Beinfest and Hill are monitoring roster cut-downs and other teams' needs. If a deal can be made...I sure the will make it.

BTW - why is Juan Cruz all of sudden the second coming of Goose Gossage? Last time I checked he sucked for the Cubs and they just dealt him for marginal players to a team that already has Antonia Alfonseca and Armando Almanza in their bullpen. I don't necessarily think Cruz is the answer.

:hat :hat :hat

I don't know what's the fuzz over Cruz either...HE SUCKS. As for our bullpen, it's disguting to see how the screwed up today. Tejera shouldn't be on this team, if you ask me, I've never liked him, although he's cuban..hehe

btw, great outing for pavz....wow

... and you all thought Neu was our savior

Not me, I knew we needed more bullpen help, but the team didn't listen.

what the hell happened to Neu? we traded one of our best pitchers for him and some other prospects. I thought this guy was good!

Guys, Neu was a Rule 5 pickup for Oakland which means he had to stay on their roster last season. He had 3.64 ERA and averaged 5.6 walks per 9 innings. A pitchers with a 1.64 WHIP will not be a successful relief pitcher so all the hype was just Marlins fans wanting to hype someone.

That being said he will head to AAA and work on better command of his pitches, not falling behind on batters and becoming a smarter pitcher. Peterson the ex-A's pitching coach/now Mets pitching coach likes Neu and that should mean a lot. Give him time, he will be back.

Bullpen= in trouble

we need some help.

These guys have got to get it together our we gotta start making trades.

Guys don't balme it on Beinfest. Is up to Loria to open his wallet and allow Beinfest to do his magic.

Can we all also realize that Blaine Neal is not good at all...He is not a major league talent and I wouldnt be sad to see him get picked up by some other team or get traded somewhere else where he can stink for them.

this much is true... it's Fox & Benitez who'll be in there closing games like yesterday's, not Tejera & Perisho.

Still, they can't pitch every night, & on those nights where Penny or Beckett ring up 4000 pitches through 6 innings, someone's gotta come in & hold the fort. If it's Darren Oliver eventually, that's fine.

It's not a make-or-break the season decision right now, because looking at what we had going into the season last year, most of the relievers wound up sucking.

Still, the bullpen blew quite a few games early on & those games can come back to haunt you at the end of the season when the wild card or division lead comes down to a one or two game lead...

I just want ONE more decent bullpen arm.... :pullhair
