May 23, 200323 yr Marlins vs Reds Austin vs. Penny Wilson vs. Phelps Graves vs. Willis on paper, we could easily sweep em... unfortunately, we will be swept
May 23, 200323 yr After the Expos debacle, yep - we may win 1 game. But who knows, maybe the Marlins show up.
May 23, 200323 yr Author we kind of have something going for us.... whenever the bats are supposed to 'break out' ... they have (ie: SD, Colo, Milw) this is one of those times...... come on Fish, give is a slivver of hope
May 23, 200323 yr whenever the bats are supposed to 'break out' ... they have (ie: SD, Colo, Milw) Unfortunately, thats also when the starting or relief pitching goes on vacation. :banghead Maybe, just maybe they can plug the holes to salvage part of this sinking ship. later...... p.s. I'm not holding my breath though :plain

I'm not holding my breath though :plain *puts rose-colored glasses on* 2 of 3 is a must.... and maybe, just maybe, if Penny gives us the 'start' we have been waiting for from him, and Pudge returns with some 'might', this could get the train rolling back towards the track
May 23, 200323 yr Well, I just hope they can take 2 of 3 or you might as well kiss this season goodbye (I already have...but for those who still have hope...)

As a Reds fan, I am very worried about this series. The Marlins haven't been playing well and they're definitely due for some good luck. On the other hand, we always struggle with teams that aren't playing well. No matter what, I expect to get the Marlins best games, especially with Penny pitching tonight. Hopefully, our players are ready, but with this Reds team, you never know.... Anyway, let's play ball!!
May 23, 200323 yr So Pudge and Hollandsworth will both be back in the lineup? H'Worth may be out 1 more game and pudge may play today.
May 23, 200323 yr I cant wait untill Willis pitches against Graves that should be good...Lets see if we can at least win one.
May 23, 200323 yr I cant wait untill Willis pitches against Graves that should be good...Lets see if we can at least win one. why should it be good??? cause willis has been so phenominal in his 3 big league starts so far...each being worst than the previous.
May 23, 200323 yr Good luck to you guys, it should be a fun series. The Reds have been hot, but you never know. The Reds just took a series from the Braves, and it was the first series the Braves lost in something like ten series. They'd been 27-5 in their last 32 games, so you just never know about when you're catching a team. They say in Vegas to never bet the "due", but I'm a little worried about this series as the Marlins seem due to break out a little.
May 23, 200323 yr If The Marlins had Penny vs Dumpster, and Nate Bump vs Graves i might be interested in tuning in... Bump is one of the Unkown guys who win Cy Youngs :whistle
May 23, 200323 yr The Reds will probably sweep us. Next month the Rangers probably will do the same. It sucks to be a Marlin fan these days.
May 23, 200323 yr Well lets see... The year's leading up to 97 were not bad. Mainly cause expectations were low and the team slowly showed signs of improvement. I think it was 2000 when times were also good, when this team did a really good job throughout, finishing just under .500. Since then this team has been stuck in neutral and going back occassionally. This team is NOT showing signs of improvement, which is the most discouraging thing of all.
May 24, 200323 yr What was the marlins record through 50 games in 1997? Marlins were in 1st.. like 16 games over .500 I believe..
May 24, 200323 yr In '97, game # 50 was on May 29th and was a 6-5 loss to the Rockies. That put their record at 30 wins and 20 losses. Just slightly different than this year, eh? later........
May 24, 200323 yr Congrats to the Marlins for the win. It looks like my concerns were very valid. Pudge looks like he's heating up. Great job by your emergency starter. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game.
May 25, 200323 yr Congrats on taking the series guys, hopefully we can avoid the sweep tomorrow. I had a bad feeling about catching the Fish on a six game losing streak.
